Chapter 226: I’m Meeting Kathleen Again.

When Kathleen returned home yesterday, she had given the children the news that they would be dining with their father the following day, and since she heard the news, Eleanor was beside herself with excitement.

She could hardly sleep last night and chatted with her brother till late in the night, until their mother who had woken up in the middle of the night to drink some water saw that they were still awake and forced them to sleep.

Despite sleeping so late, she still woke up very early. She rushed to her brother’s room to wake him up.

If there was any day in her life that Eleanor didn’t want to go to school it was today. She felt it was a total waste of the precious time she would have spent with her father.

But she had no choice as it was. Even when she pleaded with their mother last night that they should skip school, she refused without any room for argument.

As usual, when they passed by Hudson corporations they talked about the company, but this time around, their discussions were not with the deep longing it usually had for the place, as they knew that it won’t be long before they unravel the mystery about the place.

During break, Eleanor did not fail to boast to her friend Sophia that they would be having dinner with their father that evening.

In the blink of an eye, school was over and they couldn’t wait to get home and prepare for dinner with their father.

Meanwhile Shawn found his way to his grandmother’s apartment to receive her blessings before setting out.

"You seem particularly happy today, my dear. Are you and Kathleen finally reconciled?" old Mrs Hudson asked hopefully.

"Soon, Nana. As soon as we reconcile, I will give you the greatest surprise ever."

Old Mrs Hudson was so happy seeing her grandson’s face beaming with smiles just like when he was still a young boy and would come to share his happy moments with her. It was so good seeing him this excited after a very long while. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖

"Do you want to surprise me with my great grandchildren?"

Shawn was taken aback? How did Nana find out about the children?

Seeing the stunned look on Shawn’s face, old Mrs Hudson’s laughter rang out.

"I was only joking dear. As much as I crave for a great grandchild, you can take your time and give me one wherever you are ready."

"Oh," Shawn sighed in relief.

"I’m meeting Kathleen again this evening, Nana and I came to get your blessings."

An affectionate smile danced around old Mrs Hudson’s lips as she said, "But I already told you that you always have my blessings. You don’t have to ask for it everyday, except you want to come and brighten my day with your handsome face every morning. You can be sure, I wouldn’t mind that."

Shawn couldn’t help but chuckle at his grandmother’s compliment.

"You are so old Nana and you still joke around."

"I have to be on my way, Nana. Do take care of yourself and call me if there is anything you need."

He bent over and plastered his signature kiss on her forehead.

At the same time, old Mrs Hudson raised her hands to gently rub Shawn’s back while it was still bent. "Take care of yourself too and be patient with Kathleen. Remember to indulge her in everything."

"Trust me Nana, I’m an obedient student," he said jovially before striding out, leaving his grandmother staring after him with an affectionate smile lingering on her face.

After leaving Hudson Manor, he went straight to The Masters Place, where he met the manager, Mr Felix, perfecting the preparations for the special dinner.

He headed straight to his luxurious penthouse located on the rooftop of The Masters Place.

It was a private and opulent space overlooking the cityscape of Baltimore.

He nodded with satisfaction after surveying the effort Mr Felix had put in to make it more appealing to the children’s taste. "Thank you for arranging this, Mr. Felix. I want everything to be perfect for my children’s visit.

Mr. Felix nodded eagerly, relieved that the boss was pleased with his hard work.

He had worked overnight with the staff to ensure every detail aligned with Shawn’s instructions.

He was still shocked to find out that their boss was already married.

Who would have imagined that their cold faced boss was interested in a woman enough to go as far as having children with her.

"I’ve set up the dining area here to give the children a beautiful view while they dine," he said as he gestured with his hands.

"It looks wonderful. I appreciate your attention to detail," Shawn said.

"Thank you, sir." Mr Felix could tell that the boss was highly impressed from the way he nodded from time to time.

"We’ve also arranged for a variety of activities to keep the children engaged before and after dinner."

"We have placed the game selections you sent into the appropriate places and also designed a small area for drawing and crafts," he announced as he showed Shawn around.

"That’s fantastic," Shawn confessed. He was rarely one to compliment others, but seeing that the penthouse has undergone such transformation from the monotonous lonely apartment to what looked like a home, left him awed.

What gladdened him most was that all this was for his own little family.

He made a mental note to increase the manager’s salary by fifty percent.

The manager had no clue that his fortune had automatically changed for the best when Shawn still asked in his usual emotionless voice. "And the menu?"

"Just like you requested, the ingredients all arrived this afternoon and the chef will soon be done with the dishes," the manager replied.

As Mr. Felix and the staff went downstairs to see the chef, Shawn eagerly awaited the arrival of his children, filled with hope and excitement for the precious time he will be spending with them.
