THE FORGOTTEN HEIRESS-Chapter 141: Best Of Luck Ms Moore
The next morning, as if foreshadowing the series of life changing events that was to take place in the Beazell family, the colour of the leaves on the tree had begun to change from lush green to a blend of golden brown and crimson, heralding the arrival of autumn.
There were no pleasant bird songs on the trees, signaling the dreary days that were in front of them.
The sharp, prickly smell of Autumn filled the atmosphere and the only sign of life that early morning were the group of reporters that had gathered in front of the Beazell villa very early before the break of day to snatch a few minutes of interview with Mr Beazell.
It was as if they had slept there overnight as no one knew when they arrived.
By 9am, Mr Beazell who had already envisaged such a scene was escorted with Linda to his car by a group of bodyguards and armed men who acted as human barricades against the desperate reporters.
The crowd in front of the courthouse when they got there was not different from the one in his house. It was also packed full with reporters from various media outlets.
As soon as they saw him stepping out of his car, they swarmed him like bees to a honeycomb.
The bodyguards tried their best to shield the father and daughter but at the end of the day, they were still cornered by a few desperate reporters.
It was not every day they got to see a prominent family being entangled in such a high end lawsuit without pulling one or two strings to make them escape this kind of situation. So they planned to make the most of the situation to get the most captivating headlines that will promote their different media outlets.
"Mr Beazell, now that the Beazell group is a shadow of itself, what do you intend to do to bring back the glory of the company?"
"Why did you suddenly disappear out of sight after the company’s financial situation was made public? Was it to go and mobilize more investors?"
"The case about your wife has really affected your business. If you are to chose between your wife and the business, which would you choose?"
"Do you think your wife stands a chance in this case?"
Mr Beazell stared at all the reporters coldly and it was like all his hate for the media, netizens and everyone that has contributed to the current state his family and business were in was compressed into that single look.
"I owe no one any explanation, whatever answers you seek will be revealed in a few hours from the Judge’s decision."
With that, he held his daughter’s hand whom he had been protecting behind him and finally left the baffled reporters to think whatever they wanted.
Not long after that, a limited edition sports car pulled up in front of the court and Cheryl alighted from the car with Kathleen in tow.
"Ms Cheryl Moore, from Moore chambers!" someone exclaimed from the crowd.
This information sent everyone into a frenzy as the reporters rushed towards them. Only two were given the opportunity to step forward.
Before the reporter could ask her questions, someone screamed from the crowd,
"You are so beautiful and at such a young age you are already an accomplished lawyer. I love you, Ms Moore."
Cheryl darted her eyes over to where the scream came from in the crowd, then gave one of her signature smiles which instantly melted the hearts of everyone.
"Ms Moore," began the reporter, which quietened everyone down. "You have not appeared in court for a very long while. May we know why you chose to take up this case?"
"I’ve not appeared because I’ve not yet seen any case that deserved my appearance. And as to why I took up this case, I can’t stand injustice especially to people I hold dear to my heart."
’People she holds dear to her heart? What could she mean by that? Does it mean they were somehow acquainted before this case?’ they couldn’t help but muse over her words.
The next question from the reporter perfectly expressed the questions on the minds of everyone.
"Does Ms Moore have any special relationship with the victim? And do you mind telling us the nature of your relationship, if there is any?"
"Cheryl gave a mysterious laugh as she announced, "you will find out in the nearest future."
Her words doubtless was a coded message to everyone which they unfortunately could not decipher at the moment.
"May we know who the beautiful lady beside Ms Moore is?" The second reporter asked, taking in Kathleen’s breathtaking appearance.
"That’s my client whom I am here to give justice to today."
Her picture was never displayed alongside Mrs Beazell’s all through the online saga so most people were seeing Kathleen for the first time.
Her flawless beauty instantly caused a stir in the crowd in addition to the knowledge that she was the victim they were all there to support.
"I wonder why Mrs Beazell would want to end the life of such a beautiful woman?" someone said from the crowd.
"Didn’t you read the news? It was said that she had had so many fallouts with the young lady of the Beazell family."
"I’m sure Miss Beazell was the one that came looking for trouble. Who doesn’t know her character in Baltimore?" another person remarked with disdain.
"That’s true, not too long ago, Ms Beazell had even acused her falsely which made her sue Ms Beazell for defamation of character. I heard Ms Beazell was forced to pay a huge sum to settle the case out of court."
"Could that be the reason why Mrs Beazell sent assassins after her?"
"Who knows?" answered another.
"If you will excuse us, we have someone to hand over for judgment," Cheryl said to the excitement of everyone.
"Best of luck Ms Moore, we trust you to ensure that justice is served."
Having said that, they made their way to the courtroom amidst the squeals from the crowd.
But before Kathleen and Cheryl could enter the courtroom another prominent figure that almost made the crowd go wild appeared.
