THE FORGOTTEN HEIRESS-Chapter 128: Protecting Mummy.
"What have you done to yourself?" Shawn asked, taking his seat opposite Steffan. "It’s so tiresome falling in love, I must say."
He waved his hand and the waiter arrived, after placing his order, he focused back on his friend.
"Have you called her to find out what happened?"
Steffan just stared at Shawn’s handsome face. There was no way he was going to subject himself to another ridicule by telling Shawn that he didn’t even have her number.
"What’s the need? If she wanted to come, she would have been here," he smirked and poured the entire drink down his throat.
"Are you giving up so soon and that easily?" Shawn taunted.
Once again, he studied his friend for a long time. "Do you want me to continue to persevere?"
"Why not if you truly love her." Shawn didn’t suspect anything. He just explained Steffan’s behavior to be the result of being heartbroken. "Except you were just infatuated with her beauty."
"Of course I deeply love her. I’ve never felt this way for any woman the way I do for her."
"Then go after her," Shawn urged. What’s the use of pinning for a woman without making any effort to get her.
Steffan felt an indescribable emotion as he heard Shawn’s words, he shook his head slowly as he thought. ’What will become of our relationship when he knows the woman I fell in love with happened to be his wife?’
’If only you knew that it’s your wife we are talking about, I’m sure you would have sent me six feet below the ground by now.’
He exhaled a deep breath and just said. "Let’s forget about that for now. Drink with me."
They drank their fill and left the bar together. Luckily Shawn had come with his driver so he sent Steffan home first before driving Shawn to Hudson manor.
Since his mother left for her tour, Shawn had been spending more time in the manor inorder to keep an eye on his grandmother’s recovery.
So far, she has been recovering fast and within the next few weeks, she should be up on her feet fully by Shawn’s estimation.
He managed to take a sobering tea before retiring to bed in the wee hours of the morning. While they were busy snoring away, a piece of news was released very early that morning just before dawn.
"The date for the hearing of the case of the wife of the chairman of the Beazell Group has been set to Thursday this week."
As expected, the news garnered a lot of comments on social media.
"Justice must be served. No one is above the law."
"A murderer should not be allowed to go unpunished."
A post by someone who identified himself as Mr "A" on Facebook immediately sparked a heated argument.
Mr A: "But the victim was not killed eventually."
"Must we wait for someone to die before an evil person is apprehended?" another netizen threw back.
"What’s the difference, Mr A? If the victim was not lucky enough to escape, would she not be dead by now?"
"That is true," affirmed another person in his post, "For her to think about assassinating someone, she is already a murderer."
"She must not be spared,"
"I think Mr A’s post was just a post to get unnecessary attention, don’t take it seriously."
"Now that you mentioned it, I also think so."
That same morning, the entrance to Beazell Group was shut down and no one was allowed to go in or come out. Even the company security team were nowhere to be found.
Reporters had even taken turns to camp around the company and their residence over the night for any form of juicy revelations.
Kathleen laughed to stupor when she saw a particular article about Linda depicted as a clown who was trying to escape the crowd of reporters that caught her sneaking from the house.
"This is a lesson they will forever live to remember. I’m sure after this they will think twice before involving themselves in anything that concerns you," Stacy said, feeling happy for her daughter.
"They got away six years ago because you were a weak child then with no one to stand up for you, so they felt they could do so again, but unfortunately for them, the story has changed this time around.
"That’s right love, our daughter is a strong lady now and no one can bully her easily. They have to pass through us in order to do so," Director Wyatt said, a doting smile gracing his face as he looked at Kathleen.
"Is someone trying to bully our mummy?" The observant Eleanor asked.
They were all seated at the dining table having breakfast just before the children were sent to school.
"No one dares to bully your mummy, princess. Not with all of us here to protect her"
"Yes, grandpa," Elvis said, with a serious expression on his little face. His tone was full of determination.
Stacy laughed and ruffled his hair. "My baby has suddenly grown up, and he will protect his mummy from any harm."
"Me too," chimed Eleanor. "I will also protect mummy, and no one will be able to harm her."
Kathleen felt so loved and cared for by the members of her family and couldn’t wish for anything better.
"Thank you everyone," she sniffed, holding back the tears in her eyes.
This was what she had always wanted, a lovely , cozy family who loved each other sincerely, sitting together, facing life together, and watching out for one another.
"Hurry up and finish your breakfast, children, otherwise you will be late for school."
"Can’t we just stay at home today grandpa," Eleanor pleaded. Today her mother did not hurry out like before and she wanted to spend more time with her. She felt once they leave for school, they will be missing out on something.
"No, you can’t my princess," Director Wyatt refused softly but firmly, leaving no room for further objection.
