THE FORGOTTEN HEIRESS-Chapter 126: Let’s Trust Our Daughter
Meanwhile in the Director’s office at the top floor of Wyatt Corporations, a small gathering of a group of four was in progress.
"What did she say?" Stacy asked Ariel who had received Kathleen’s call.
When the call was going on, she wanted to grab the phone from Ariel but was stopped by her husband.
She had to endure until the call was over before expressing her concern.
"Let’s trust our daughter," her husband said. "Since she said she will be back soon, I believe she should be safe."
What he didn’t let her know was that he had already made arrangements with Kathleen before Kathleen set out in response to Ariel’s call.
Since then, her every movement has been under their surveillance unknown to the other party. They deliberately did not send anyone to follow her inorder not to alert them.
But as soon as she placed a call to Ariel just now, people had already been sent to her exact location.
"But it’s been so long, when is "soon" going to be?" Stacy whined.
She wasn’t going to sit back and watch something bad happen to her daughter once again. She was only coming from the shadows of the past and knew she wouldn’t be able to stand another cruel blow of missing her daughter again.
"Come here, it’s time for the kids to close from school, let’s go and pick them."
He brought that up as a way of distracting her. If she found out that he was in on the plot, he was certain that she would not talk to her for a week.
"But Janice..." Stacy began,
"She will be fine. Or have you forgotten about your daughter’s abilities? If she needed our help I’m sure she would have contacted us by now," he coaxed his wife who reluctantly nodded.
During the time she returned back with them to Luxembourg, they have employed one of the best martial arts masters to teach her. Although she was not on a professional level, she knew enough to defend herself in any emergency situation until help comes.
Moreover from Janice’s relaxed tone when she spoke on the phone with Ariel, everything should be under her control.
"Remember we are going to pick the kids, don’t give them any reason to worry."
"I know, I’m not a kid," Stacy scowled as she stood from her seat.
She didn’t understand why her husband was so certain their daughter didn’t need their help. She made up her mind that if anything happens to her, she will never forgive him.
"Dad, mom, I will be in Ariel’s office, I have something to discuss with her."
Cheryl cleverly excused herself when she saw that they were about to head out to pick the children.
"Go ahead dear," her father in-law to be answered.
Apart from Cheryl, Ariel, Director Wyatt and his wife, nobody in the company knew anything about what was going on.
"Who do you think might be behind this," Ariel asked when they got to her office and the door securely closed behind them.
"Who else but the Beazell family," Cheryl snapped.
Ariel laughed at how angry Cheryl got all of a sudden. "You seem to be so sure of it."
"I can bet my career on this fact," Cheryl said.
"Don’t you think there is something fishy about the whole thing? One minute you are caught and your phone could no longer be reached, the next minute you are released without any torture or ransom, then the next minute again, Janice is no where to be found."
"That means they were after my boss all these while. They used me as the bait to get her."
"Are you just realizing that?" Cheryl’s sardonic smile was an unspoken critique to her slow thinking. Sometimes she was disappointed at how slow Ariel’s brain operated at critical times. Maybe that was why they were able to kidnap her in the first place.
"What will happen to my Boss now?" Ariel asked, unaware of what was going on in Cheryl’s mind.
"Although it looked as if Director Wyatt was saying that to console Stacy, I also detected that he might be aware of the whole situation and there was nothing to actually worry about. If that wasn’t the case, he wouldn’t be talking about picking the kids now. He would have sent someone to do so."
"You think so?"
"Mm-hm. I know so," Cheryl answered and switched to what she’s been wanting to ask since Ariel returned.
"But You haven’t told me how you ended up being kidnapped in the first place."
"About that," a pensive look came over Ariel’s face.
After she spoke with Kathleen that morning about going to meet with some stakeholders of Beazell Group who were willing to sell off their shares, she set off immediately.
She had a successful meeting with two and they even signed the already prepared transfer agreements.
When she went to meet the third person, everything was going smoothly when the man’s phone rang and he excused himself to go and pick the call with the explanation that it was a private call.
Suspecting nothing unusual, she relaxed and started scrolling through her phone for any update on the online lashing on The Beazell Group.
Not long after, the man returned and told her he had something urgent to attend to and the share transfer had to be postponed to a later date then hurried out.
Thinking it was one of those hitches that one encounters in the line of business, she readily agreed and was about to exit the private room when all of a sudden, she lost consciousness.
She woke up to find herself in an unfamiliar room with just a man that looked like a bodyguard standing by the door.
When he noticed that she was finally awake, he took her phone from her, demanding she call her boss. After that single call she made to Kathleen, the phone was turned off and only returned to her before they released her to go.
