THE FORGOTTEN HEIRESS-Chapter 108: Trending News
Mr Beazell sighed deeply. "Not that I’m doubting you, but we need every bit of information we can get in order to get you out of here."
Mrs Beazell was still as stubborn as a mule, and the next minute she directly snapped, "I don’t care what you have to do to get me out of here. But I can’t own up to something I didn’t do."
"Moreover, I can’t stand those police officers," she snorted as if they were less human than she was.
Mr Beazell’s face hardened, "Did they do anything to you?" He turned her around to check her body for any signs of injury.
"They wouldn’t dare," sneered Mrs Beazell as if she was there for any other business than facing punishment for her crime. "I just don’t want to see their nauseating faces."
"You have to be patient, my dear," coaxed her husband. "We are working on getting you bail."
"But dad...," Linda began,
"But nothing," her father quickly cut her off, his voice carrying a note of warning. He knew what she was about to say but he couldn’t bring himself to tell her that she had been refused bail for the meantime.
"I’m sure you know Mr Taylor, our family lawyer," he introduced, which was followed by a nod from Mr Taylor as a greeting to Mrs Beazell.
"He will be in charge of the case." You have to cooperate with him so that you can leave here as soon as possible."
"What kind of cooperation does he need? His job is to prove my innocence," she stated blandly like someone declaring the company budget for the year.
A muscle twitched in Mr Taylor’s jaw as he thought, ’it’s like she doesn’t know the shit she has gotten herself into.’
Before Mr Beazell could make up an excuse for his wife’s behavior, a police officer came to inform them that they had about five minutes left of their time and needed to leave soon.
"Darling, I will see you later in the day. By then you should be able to go home with us."
"What do you mean later in the day?" Amanda Beazell’s voice rose. "Are you leaving me here?"
"We are not leaving you here, there are some things that we need to settle before you can be granted bail and that is what we want to go and work on."
His deep gaze penetrated his wife’s scared eyes, pleading with her to trust him.
"We rushed here as soon as we got the news but unfortunately the commissioner said you can’t be released just yet."
About five minutes after that, the family reluctantly parted as they left the cell in downcast conditions.
Mr Taylor however was lost in thought as he left the cell.
He has been observing Mrs Beazell all through the time they were with her and had already gotten a rough assessment of the situation.
From her behavior, he has been able to understand that she was trying to cover up something. But to get her to open up he knew he had to talk to her in private.

As expected, before the end of that day, a piece of news began to trend on all social media handles. And within thirty minutes it was topping the charts pushing all the other news to the bottom.
"Wife of a big boss remanded in police custody for attempted murder."
"Beazell Group, hit with a terrifying blow."
"Wife of the chairman of the Beazell Group involved in assassination scandal."
"Gruesome Accident Linked To Wife of the Chairman of Beazell Group."
"Mrs Amanda Beazell’s Vicious Life, Exposed."
"Accident Victim Exposes Culprits. Will Justice Be Served?"
There were even some video clips of the scene when Mrs Beazell was taken away in a police car in front of the café.
Another clip showed the moment in the café where Mrs Beazell was trying to dodge behind Linda prior to the arrest.
Underneath was the caption: Scared Kitty Afraid Of Arrest.
Needless to say, the ones affected the most were Mr Beazell and his daughter.
It also dealt a vicious blow on the Beazell Group as they were neither left out.
After Mr Beazell left the police station, he hurried back to the company for an emergency stakeholders’ meeting.
He had been so concerned about his wife after receiving the distress call from his daughter that he forgot to call his PR department to block the news of his wife’s arrest.
Although it has gone beyond what could be suppressed, he still put a call through to see how they can salvage the situation.
"Do whatever you can to take down the news," he ordered as soon as the line connected.
"We have been on it sir. The moment we got a whiff of the news, we went into action ," explained the other party.
"Why then has it not been taken down?" Mr Beazell sneered. "Are you all so useless that you cannot deal with such a simple thing?"
"Our IT department is working with the hacker we hired to take it down and soon we will give you an answer sir."
"You better do, otherwise, what’s the use of keeping a bunch of incompetent people in the company," he threatened.
"I hope you do understand the impact this will have on the company if that news continues till tomorrow."
"We won’t fail sir," the head of PR promised before he heard a dull tone signifying the other party had hung up.
As soon as Mr Beazell got to the company, he took his private elevator straight to the top floor where his office and the conference room was located.
At the top floor of the Beazell Group, several stakeholders and directors were already seated when Mr Beazell entered.
He took his seat at the head of the table and glanced around at the people before him.
Everyone had an impatient look on their faces and appeared to have been waiting for over a decade for him to arrive.
