The Forbidden Heiress At The All Male Alpha Academy-Chapter 23: Sleeping with the Enemy
Theodora skipped classes for the day. She woke up late anyway, and facing Professor Sylas was a bit scary so she decided to postpone it till tomorrow.
When it was time to sleep, she took a quick shower and climbed into bed.
Today has been a close call. If Zeke had woken up silently and taken a good look at her face, she would probably be on her way back home by now. Seraphina was still asleep, and her lips were still full.
It didn’t matter anymore. Zeke had already seen it.
She dove into her covers when Zeke stepped into the bathroom and closed her eyes. Tomorrow would be another long day, and hopefully, Professor Sylas wouldn’t be mad that she missed one day of class.
Wishful thinking.
She heard the bathroom door open after a few minutes, but she couldn’t hear his footsteps.
Typical Zeke. He’s always so hard to sense whenever he’s in the room.
Just then, she felt a dip on the edge of her bed like someone had just sat down, and then Zeke threw the covers over himself too, lay down next to her, and threw a leg over hers.
She froze.
Then turned to him, slowly, trying not to show too much, "What in the Moon Goddess’s name do you think you’re doing?" Her voice came out much deeper, and she had a feeling Seraphina was beginning to regain her strength.
"Sleeping next to you," He replied casually.
"This is not happening!" She came up to a sitting position, staring down at him with a glare, "Get down from my bed, right now!"
He didn’t seem to care, and grabbed her pillow instead, throwing it under his head and spreading his legs wider with a contented sigh.
She was so frustrated. Pushing him off the bed wasn’t gonna solve this not just because she lacked the strength, but because he would just climb back. Plus, she was tired of arguing with him every single night!
So, she climbed off the bed and went ahead to lie down on his own. It smelled exactly like him, and that was gonna mess with her head a lot, but it was much better than sleeping next to him again, even though it was very, very tempting.
He stood up from her bed and slipped next to her again. She had spread her legs on the bed and tried to assert dominance, but all he did was push her with an arm, and her small frame rolled out of the way under his strength.
When she tried to get up again, he spoke, "Don’t move,"
She ignored him and began climbing off the bed, but he caught her by the shoulder and pulled her back next to him.
She gasped as she fell back, her face landing dangerously close to his. Their gazes met, and she was surprised to see that his were... soft.
"I find this much more uncomfortable than you do," He murmured with an edge, and his breath fanned her face, "But I want to experience sleeping well again, and I need you right next to me for that to happen," As he spoke, she noticed something shiny on his tongue.
Was that... a tongue piercing?
"And did you bother to know how I feel about this?" She asked.
He didn’t blink, and she was forced to hold that dark gaze, "You’re disgusted, aren’t you?" He paused, still looking, "But it’s better than broken bones,"
"That only happened because I tried to wake you up. Whenever you start sleepwalking, I’ll just ignore you,"
"Yeah," His eyes gleamed, "Because that’s exactly what you did last night when I started to react,"
She cursed at him silently, "I’m not gonna help you anymore,"
"Yeah, right," He didn’t believe a word she said, "I already told you, Hellcat, you’re not like me. You’re a good guy. You can’t ignore someone in need, even if it’s me,"
He was taking advantage of her, and he enjoyed what he was doing. She hated that about it. She hated it so much.
"Whatever," She turned to the other side and closed her eyes, "Just make sure you don’t breathe in my ear, and you don’t...touch me in more than one place at a time or else I’m leaving you to your miseries!"
He laughed again, and she held back from talking again. He had thrown a leg over hers under the covers, as the only form of physical contact between them so the pendant would react whenever he...
That wasn’t the issue. The problem was his scent, and he himself. The problem was breathing in his scent, and being in the range of his dark aura, and that crashing heat that came with it.
She didn’t realise when she fell asleep, and Zeke took the opportunity to look at her face again. There was something seriously odd about his roommate, and what was this... bizarre pull he had toward him?
His gaze moved to Theo’s wrist, and he gently took out another ice pack without waking him up and placed it on the wrist for a while. He shouldn’t have cared, but the broken wrist was his doing.
Moreover, she had seen him in one of his worst moments. He had always thrown out all his roommates for fear that they would discover this tortured side of him, fear that they would see the True madness he’s been trying to hide from everyone, and the greater fear that they would use it against him.
But Hellcat didn’t react like he thought. The dude had appeared a lot more... gentle and understanding. Not everyone would even want to remain in the same room as him after he had snapped their wrist and threatened them too many times.
He glanced at where he had his legs draped over hers, then to her chest. He could make out the shape of the pendant through her chest.
That pendant...was supposed to belong to a woman. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
His mate.
Not...this dude.
And yet, it still reacted to him, to both of them. He was being forced to believe that the pendant actually belonged to Hellcat.
His eyes moved to Theo’s face this time. It stopped at her lips, and his frown grew even deeper. Theo’s lips were...even fuller than before. This can’t be an imagination, he knew exactly what he was seeing.
Weird.
They were fuller and pinker, and he subconsciously leaned closer without reason till Hellcat’s face was too close.
The moment he realised what he was doing, he quickly pulled back and turned the other way. Just then, Theo stirred in her sleep and cuddled against his back, her face and body soaking in the warmth that was him.
Zeke found himself as stiff as a board, and his throat went dry. He might have suggested this, but he was slowly beginning to regret it. Would he be able to get some sleep like this?
And it wasn’t because the thought of another man touching him disgusted him, but because he strangely...liked the feeling of it.
