The Forbidden Heiress At The All Male Alpha Academy-Chapter 187: Sinclair Blood.
The world no longer made sense. She stared at Liam’s face, waiting for it to change into something else.
Anything else.
But it didn’t.
William Sinclair. The boy she had shared the academy meals with, laughed with, and walked around school with. The person who couldn’t go a day without checking on her.
Her... friend.
Liam lifted his head and looked at her. He looked awfully calm, and his eyes held this neutral expression in them.
"Hello, Theo," He said softly.
Theo? He knows who she is. Of course he did. Anyone who works for Cain knows.
Cain looked at Liam, his eyes glinting with something like approval. He admired Liam like a craftsman admiring a blade that had finally been unsheathed.
"You did well," He praised, "Better than I expected,"
Eric flinched beside Liam, more sweat running down his face. His gaze remained fixed on the ground.
Theo could not take her eyes off him, "Liam...?" She called again, "You were...,"
Then, Liam stood up. As he rose, the air around him changed a bit. It wasn’t pressure like Cain, but the space around him unanchored. Like...the world refused to hold onto him properly.
Absence.
Fracture.
She could feel his presence, but the world around him couldn’t.
And then, it finally hit her.
The reason why she couldn’t trace him. Why she had a difficult time catching his scent or aura.
It’s the Sinclair blood power at work.
A laugh broke out of her throat, broken and hysterical, and she hadn’t noticed blood dripping out of where she had dug her nails into the ground, "Whenever you wore that mask, you’d activate your blood powers." She laughed again, "You weren’t hiding, you were rejecting. Imprint. Fate. My blood sought out alignment, and yours cut those threads. That was why I couldn’t catch your scent or aura," Her stomach twisted violently, "You erased yourself, just as you’re doing now,"
She looked at him again.
"I did, but your wolf always detected my presence," Liam said, "A silver wolf is truly special,"
It made sense now. That’s why even Zeke didn’t know he was there when they had first stepped out of the underground staircase and back to the archers’ range.
Sinclair’s blood was truly powerful.
"Whenever you stand beside me, you don’t activate it," She added, now speaking to herself. But everyone could hear, "How truly naive I’ve been,"
All this time she thought she had found Cain’s spy, being Eric. She never knew the actual spy had been walking right next to her.
"So what really happened the night you got hurt with those two men? Are you telling me it was all planned?" Her voice cracked again.
Liam looked away, a flicker in his eyes.
That was enough of an answer for her, and a tear rolled down her face.
She recalled how much she had blamed herself after that Incident, telling herself that Cain would keep targeting Liam if she didn’t distance herself from him.
"Yes," He finally replied.
Her chest felt like it was collapsing inward. Truly, being good at combat wasn’t everything in this world. She thought back to the moment her father had crowned Harrison as his heir, and for a moment, she understood why her father had made that decision.
Harrison was probably not half as naive as she was.
If Sylas had explained things to her that night, she never would have known the Alpha families possessed special blood. She had been kept in the dark for too long, and now she was facing the consequences of it all.
Gravemont hadn’t just been a temporary escape, it had refined and opened her eyes to the cruelty the world had.
Just then, A large black wolf tore into the clearing and ran toward Cain. As it got close, its fur retracted, and it changed into a walking man. He was lean and muscular, not as large as jarred and his eyes were glowing blue.
He was a beta. Cain’s beta.
"Alpha," He also went down on one knee, "The Voss and Devereux sons are nowhere to be found,"
"Hmm," Cain looked faintly amused, "It’s no problem. I know exactly how to pull them all out of their hiding places. Tell me, are all the preparations ready for the occasion tonight?"
"Yes, Alpha!" He answered.
"Go find Jarred and return back to the location in an hour,"
He nodded sharply, "Yes, Alpha,"
Then, he turned around, changed back to a wolf and took off.
"Good," Cain turned back to Sylas, who was still on chokehold, "Now that everything has been brought to light, let’s commence with the death sentences,"
His chokehold tightened, and Theo could hear Sylas’s throat cracking under the force. His face was turning purple, and blood spluttered out of his lips as his pipeline was shattered.
"Please, stop..." Theo cried.
Inside her, Seraphina whispered weakly. She had woken up, but couldn’t move at all. All she could do was watch. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
*Please tell me there’s a way to fight him* Theo asked, sniffing, *I can’t let this continue,* she added as she turned to Zeke, who had ceased moving.
He was down on both knees, his shoulders sagged and his head down. His heartbeat was weak, barely beating every few seconds as he was nearing his final moments.
*I’m sorry,* Seraphina forced out meekly, *I don’t know...*
*What if I took off the pendant? Would that work? The demon....*
*Have you forgotten?!* Seraphina breathed, *She’s on his side. She’s on Alcaeus’s side, which means you’ll only be making the situation worse!*
Quickly, she dragged herself till she knelt under Cain’s feet and grabbed a leg. She could only beg. There was no strength to fight, only the crushing fact that he had won.
"Please," She gripped his leg, "Please don’t do this. I’m sorry for running away, I’m sorry for hiding from you. I’ll do anything you ask of me from now on, just don’t...," She swallowed, "Don’t kill him, don’t kill anyone. Don’t do this,"
He looked down at her, and she quickly pressed her head to the ground, submitting completely.
"This is all my fault. If I hadn’t come to Gravemont, I wouldn’t have met them in the first place. It’s my fault, Alpha. Please, spare him and punish me instead. I beg you," She trembled.
Another pained groan fell out of Sylas’s lips as Cain crushed something else.
Cain looked amused again. To him, all this was one big amusement park, "Now, you beg?" He asked.
She panted.
"It doesn’t matter if you bury your head deep in the ground. This is a matter between my sons and me, and it has nothing to do with you. The only reason you beg for them is that you love them, and that only amplifies my desire to crush them, Runaway,"
"No," She cried, "Please, don’t do this,"
"I will," He said flatly, and then laughed out, "You’ll do as I say if I don’t kill them?" He repeated her words with another wicked laugh, "Runaway, you’ll still do everything I ask of you, whether I kill them or not, so that’s not even a good bargain,"
Cain looked back up at Sylas, "And this time, I’ll make sure I do it properly,"
Theo heard the final snap of crushing bones, and her body went completely rigid. Hot tears swelled in her eyes as she remained in her position for what seemed like hours, before she finally looked up.
Sylas’s eyes were lifeless, and the shadows around him had also stilled, like they never moved in the first place.
Cain was still holding him up.
