Chapter 154: A Little Birdie told me

"What’s wrong?" Zeke asked as he noted her unease.

The moment he asked, the gaze on her back vanished. Whoever it was, was wary of Zeke. But he was also good enough to hide his presence from Zeke.

"Someone was here," She replied, "But they’re gone now. I think they pushed me off the cliff,"

The way Zeke spun around and took off running startled her.

"Zeke!" She yelled, running after him.

He was sniffing the entire places skimming every corner and inch of the place, trying to find anything that would lead to the culprit. And as before, the person left no trace of themselves, and no scent. Almost like they vanished.

Heather had just returned from rehearsals for that day. She was insanely frustrated after everything that happened today. The school had still forced them to go to class and rehearsals after that brutal game that killed seven people.

"Fuck!" She shrilled in anger as she banged the door of her room closed.

Watching Zeke and Ava on stage was driving her wild. Why on earth did Ava have to be Lyra of all people?!

"I’m perfect for the role! Me!" She cried, "And yet, somehow, I end up with the role as the daughter of a measly messenger who helped Aeron take down Kael!"

She felt insulted. It was unbefitting of someone with her status, and she had even laid her complaint to the Commandant’s office, but he had glared at her and strictly told her she was going to get expelled the next time she set foot in his office.

How dare he?!

The only good thing about the day was watching that shorty get told around by Miss Jocelyn. Everything else was bullshit, and the stupid play was in a few days.

After the play, Luna Academy would be leaving, and who knows when else she would ever see Zeke again!

The thought of it infuriated her. It’s all because of Ava!

Ava’s the one who couldn’t give him that letter.

But if something bad happens to Ava right now, the school will have to look for someone else to play the part, and Heather was on Jocelyn’s good side.

Yes, Ava needed to go.

But if something happened to Ava right now, everyone would point fingers at her. If she was going to do anything, she needed to do it indirectly.

Just then, Heather noticed a small paper sitting on her bed. It wasn’t there when she left this morning, and she quickly got alert and looked around. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

She was all alone here.

Reluctantly, she reached out for the paper and u folded it. Something was written inside.

As she read it, her eyes slowly widened in bewilderment. She couldn’t believe what was written inside for the first few seconds, and almost scoffed at it with disbelief.

Then, she remembered something that had happened in front of her, and her eyes slowly twinkled with delight and mischief.

This was a very interesting update, and whoever had left this paper...had just given her the best gift since she arrived at Gravemont.

This here, was her golden Ticket to getting Zeke Pendragon.

Theodora was alone at the Dominion Hall. Rehearsals were finished for the day, and everyone had left. As she set the props back into the storage room, she thought back to what happened a few days ago.

Why did the person in the mask want her dead? Why did they go silent for a while, then suddenly show up again? Did they get sent by Cain? But Cain isn’t trying to kill her yet. Anyway, she needed to be alert at all times.

She thought back to the stone graves, and the memory of standing in front of a similar one, holding a wilted flower flashed in her head. She hadn’t visited her mother’s grave much after the incident, not because she was scared to go alone, but because...

Theo shook her head lightly. She wouldn’t think about that for now.

As she finished setting everything in place, she heard the door open and someone walked in.

Turning around, she found Heather and Gina walking up to her.

Theo rolled her eyes and ignored them, but they walked right up to her. Gina was chewing gum, and Heather had both hands crossed.

She gave Theo a long, curious stare and then she rolled her eyes in disbelief. Besides, there was this new...thrill in her eyes like she was going to enjoy every second of this.

Theo was exhausted. If anyone tried something, she was going to let Seraphina punch them. When she tried to walk, both girls quickly stepped in her path again.

"What do you want?!" She demanded in anger.

"Don’t be so aggressive, shorty," Heather cooed, an evil glint in her eyes, "Well, you see, a little birdy told me something about someone in this hall right now," She began walking around Theo and stopped at her back, "The birdie said that if I pulled down your pants, I’d find a vagina, and not a cock,"

Theo’s hackles rose, and you could almost see the slight shiver run through her. No, she thought, this wasn’t good. Does Heather know?

"I was genuinely disgusted that day, you know," Heather dragged on, "When you threw yourself on my brother like a...girl. I thought it was really awkward and weird and just...girly," She kept emphasising on the word ’Girl’

Theo’s fists tightened.

"And when that little birdie told me, everything made sense all of a sudden. Why you got disgusted and ran off the day Ava kissed you, how you always seem to stand out despite your... unpleasant qualities, and how you seem to think you’re some sort of big shot. It all makes perfect sense now. It makes sense, because you are a big shot...a pretty big one that’s wanted by an even bigger shot,"

"Could you stop running in circles and get to the point?" Theo retorted, pretending she didn’t care and had no idea what she was talking about.

"Damn, I respect you, shorty. I guess you’re not just good while acting on stage. You’re even better off it, Thaddeus Douglas," She paused and leaned closer, "Or should I say... Theodora Blackthorn,"
