Chapter 151: Lady in Annoying Heels

When Theo woke up the next morning, she found herself back in her dorm. She didn’t remember coming back here last night, but she did recall falling asleep in Sylas’s arms after a lot of... activities last night.

That means he must have left.

Zeke lay next to her, already awake and staring down at her. He looked deeply frustrated, "Someone had a good time last night,"

"I did," She admitted and smiled at him, "Thank you...for letting me go,"

Zeke did not look happy. But he still hugged her to his chest, "I regretted it," He admitted too, "The second you left me, I regretted it,"

She rested into his touch, "That was selfless of you,"

"You smell amazing, Hellcat," He looked down at her with a glare, "And you also reek of his scent. Wash it off with a bath before I lose my mind,"

She giggled and jumped out of the bed, into the bathroom. As she took off her clothes, she paused when she noticed a small bracelet on her wrist that wasn’t there before.

It was made of black and white stones, reminding her of Sylas’s space. He must have slipped it into her hand while she was asleep, and a smile broke on her face.

It was beautiful.

Theo gave the stones a closer look. She didn’t know much about stones, but this one looked expensive and was the kind of rare jewellery. When she brought it close to her nose, a bit of his scent from it had her shivering.

It was perfect.

"How was your night?" She asked, getting ready for class.

Zeke lay on his bed, watching her again with greedy eyes, "The warden came while I was asleep. Room was fucking cold when I woke up,"

"I’m glad you slept well," She leaned down and kissed his nose.

"I haven’t seen you around much with Liam. You guys still fighting?"

"Something like that," She replied as she slipped on her boots, "Oh, and by the way, in case you notice a bit of... unsettling behaviour from the lady that oversees the play, try not to rip her head off,"

Zeke blinked, "What do you mean by that?"

"Oh, nothing. Just don’t rip anyone’s head off, okay?" She kissed his nose again.

"Are you bribing me with kisses so I won’t kill anyone because... it’s working so keep on doing it,"

She laughed heartily, then came down for the third kiss. This time, he grabbed her face and kissed her firmly on the lips, "Have a good day, Hellcat," He smirked, "And when I practice my line with the blonde, try not to interrupt us again,"

She bit her lips, "You knew,"

"Of course, I do. I can feel your gaze shredding through my skin anytime we practice our lines,"

She scrunched her nose, "You’re a really good actor, and I hate it!"

"Hey!" He leaned back proudly, "I’m good at everything,"

She grabbed a pillow and threw it at him, "Well tone down on this one, or else Heather’s not the only one who’s gonna be bashing Ava’s head in, and I don’t wanna hurt Ava!"

"I love it when you get jealous. Maybe I should start flirting with the girls,"

Theo arched a brow, "Then maybe I should make out with Eric,"

Anger flared in his eyes like an impending storm.

She walked up to the door, and opened, "I thought so too,"

And then, she was gone.

"I said subtle, not clumsy!"

"Watch how Heather does it. Learn something!"

"Why are you still here? I dismissed you ten minutes ago to clean!"

"Hold the props properly, not like you’ve never been on a stage before!"

"Is that the best you can do, or should we all lower our expectations?"

"Stand there. No...there. Honestly, must I place you myself?"

"Someone get him a chair, he looks exhausted from doing nothing."

"Take these props back to storage when you’re done failing the scene."

Scripts. Costumes. Lighting notes. Water bottles no one had asked for five minutes ago. Every time she returned, Jocelyn either ignored her entirely or waved her off with an impatient flick of her fingers, as if Theo were invisible, or worse, an inconvenience cluttering the room.

The girls had stopped pretending not to notice.

"She’s not even acting anymore," one murmured loudly.

"Is she part of the play or the staff?" another laughed.

Theo heard every word. She just didn’t react.

Her breathing stayed even as she crossed the hall again. Her steps never slowed. She didn’t fumble, snap, or glare. She moved with the rigid control of someone refusing to give satisfaction, even as sweat gathered at her temples.

Jocelyn watched her pass for the umpteenth time, lips curling faintly, "Careful," she said coolly, just as Theo returned again, "You look tired. Try not to drag your feet. This isn’t a marketplace," 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

A fresh wave of laughter followed.

Theo set the items down, straightened herself and met Jocelyn’s eyes for a brief, steady second. No apology. No shame. Just a hard, unyielding stare that said ’I know exactly what you’re doing,’

No matter what Jocelyn did, it didn’t get a groan or even the slightest look of inconvenience out of Theo’s face even though she was literally boiling from the inside and more than anything, that irritated Jocelyn even more.

What actually bothered Theo was the fact that Liam might never be her friend again. The only time they ever spoke was on stage, and after that, he would ignore all her attempts. She would walk up to him and try to talk, but he would walk away like she was invisible.

"Hey!" Jocelyn snapped after another failed attempt to talk to Liam.

Theo turned to her, her expression relaxed, "You called me?"

"Stop stalking Sinclair and run this message to the Commandant quickly! We don’t have all day!"

As Theo stepped out of the door, someone wrapped a hand around her wrist and pulled her into a corner. It was Zeke.

"Hey!"

"Nice warning," He was fuming.

"What happened?"

"The lady in the annoying heels, what was her name again? The one barking orders at you. I need to rip that mouth off her,"

"I’m fine, don’t worry about it,"

"Oh, I won’t worry once I’ve taught her a very big lesson she’ll never forget,"

"No!" Theo snapped at him, then her gaze softened, and she cupped both his face and stared him straight in the eye, "Please, just let her be. I know you wanna stand up for me, and it’s very sweet of you, but I’m very capable of looking after myself. I’ll talk it out with her, and if it doesn’t work, I’ll try another approach, okay? Moreover, tomorrow is the day of the second event and there’s a good chance your name is on the list, so focus on that for now,"

Zeke gritted his teeth, rage clouding his eyes, "You sure you don’t want me to TALK to her for you?"

"No, thank you," She made sure no one was around and then kissed his nose again, "Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to deliver a message to the Commandant,"
