Chapter 143: The Errand Boy

The urge to rip out Jocelyn’s face. Almost like she was doing this because she knew Theo was pissed, watching her person kiss someone else.

Wait, did she know anything about Theo and Zeke’s relationship?

Everyone’s attention was centred on the stage again, where they wanted to retake the scene right before the kiss. Theo fought to control herself, her teeth grinding against each other, claws already outstretched as Zeke leaned in for the kiss.

No... No!

"I’m not kissing anyone till the play," Zeke abruptly said, cutting the tension and silence in half, "You should count yourselves lucky I come to rehearsals in the first place," He said it directly to the teachers and then he walked off stage.

Everyone was stunned as hell.

Theo quickly turned around and braced both hands on the wall. Her claws slowly retracted, and she sucked in deep breaths. Only heavens know what she would have done if they had actually kissed.

Just then, someone leaned on the wall next to her, "You threw the metal stand on purpose," Ava stood there, "People might think you’re jealous because you can’t stand your girlfriend kissing another guy,"

People?!

"Like Miss Jocelyn, for example. I don’t know what you did to her, but she’s been harbouring this intense hate for you since you walked in,"

Theo glanced at the woman. She was saying something to Raina.

"Anyways, just letting you know so you can be on guard around her," Ava said and tried to walk away, but Theo pulled her back. She could feel the girls glaring their way, the kind that was murderous.

"You feel that, don’t you?" Theo whispered, "I think your little scene with Zeke could mean the end of you,"

"There’s nothing I can do about it. It’s either I play the part, or I get expelled," She sighed tiredly.

"Or, you do that thing you did the other day that scared them away. You remember that, right?"

"Remember what?" She looked genuinely curious and confused.

"When Heather knocked your head into the chair and you reeled back. You kinda... awakened something in you, and you looked so powerful and--"

"I don’t know what you’re talking about, Theodora,"

Theo came closer to her, "You’re joking, right?"

"I remember passing out for a few seconds when I knocked into the chair. It was weird that I was standing when I woke up, though. I never really thought about it that much. I thought maybe one of the girls dragged me up or something,"

Pass out?!!

Theo was in complete awe, and her lips parted slightly.

"You emitted this powerful aura, and your eyes were glowing, Ava. How could you forget that?"

Ava shook her head slowly, her eyes distant like she was trying to remember, "I really can’t recall anything that happened,"

"Well, what do you think it might mean for you?" Theo’s eyes flared with hope, "Discuss it with your wolf. Ask her questions. She must know something,"

Ava blinked several times, like she was still trying to process what she had just been told, "Alright. I...I’ll make enquiries,"

"Yes, you will. And with those eyes and powers of yours, I bet you’ll come up with something soon," Theo was even more excited than her. Maybe it was because she was thrilled to know she wasn’t the only wolf that could do things other wolves can’t. Now, there were two of them!

"If you need any help, you can always ask me, alright?"

"You’re very excited," Ava commented.

"Yes, of course! I’m not alone anymore!!"

Ava shook her head quietly, "But they’re still glaring in this direction,"

"How about we go have a word with them?" Theo suddenly grabbed Ava’s hand and began pulling her toward the band of girls standing by the corner, Heather being their leader.

"No...no!" Ava cried, trying to pull her hand away from Theo’s vice grip but it was useless.

Heather saw them coming, and she returned Theo’s deadly glare with one of her own. Her arms were crossed defiantly, and chins raised with pride.

"Douglas! There you are!" Jocelyn suddenly stepped into their path.

Theo had to stop.

Jocelyn had this pretty smile on her face. She seemed polite at first glance, but Gravemont’s teachings have helped Theo be able to identify fake from real.

And this one, reeked of all forms of fake. Theo could smell anger from the woman.

Reluctantly, she let go of Ava’s arm.

"I’ve spoken with Professor Raina and we’ve decided you’ll be the one running errands during rehearsal and after. You’ll help us set everything up every day, so you have to be there thirty minutes earlier, and you’ll leave an hour later than everyone else," As she said that, she shoved a broom into her hands, "Now, get sweeping, Douglas!"

Theo held the broom in one hand, wondering if it was real.

She was the errand boy?!

"Oh!" Jocelyn turned back to her before she could speak, "Refusals equal expulsion. Remember that," Her eyes flashed with a venomous glare as she said that, then she gave another polite smile and walked away, her heels clicking annoyingly.

*We should kill her* Seraphina growled, and Theo’s free hand curled into a fist, *I mean if you’re not gonna kill her, I will!*

"Are you okay?" Ava asked from behind, kindly taking a step back. Theo’s aura had grown to the point where she couldn’t handle getting too close, "You should try and calm down. Don’t worry, I’ll help you clean up,"

"That’s not the point," Theo’s eyes kept twitching uncontrollably.

"I told you she hated you,"

"She’s gonna get what’s coming to her," Theo’s knuckles turned white.

Ava quickly snatched the broom from Theo, and feigned a small laugh to brighten up the space, "Haha, please don’t kill anyone,"

In front of them, Theo could hear the girls snickering nonstop and whispering among themselves. They must have heard everything.

If Theo was still holding the broom, it would have snapped right now from the force of her anger.

Theo arrived at Sylas’s place over an hour late. The first reason was because of her newly added ’work’, and the second was that she had a very hard time finding Sylas’s place.

He lived somewhere so deep into the paths Gravemont never used, and she got lost a few times. But thanks to her drunken memory, she was able to finally get the road right.

Sylas stood by the porch as she arrived. His shoes were dusty, but he still looked impeccable. She eyed him softly, "Why do I have a feeling you were watching me get lost over and over again?"

He shrugged, "You found your way in the end, all by yourself, didn’t you?"

She rolled her eyes at him, "Well, I’m here now,"

He walked up to her and took her hands in his. He intertwined his fingers with hers, "Now, let’s go in and I’ll give you one of the best evenings of your life!"
