Chapter 118: Moonlit Surrender

Silence settled between them after his confession. It was heavy with unspoken things, with things she wanted but was terrified to say, because she had a strong feeling there would be no going back once they crossed that boundary again.

Theo’s heart was still pounding too loudly for her to think straight, while Sylas stood in front of her, holding himself back by the sheer force of will.

The sun dipped lower, sinking behind the distant ridge. The forest became dark, and shadows curled around them.

Theo pretended to watch the path Thaddeus had taken. But even she knew she was lying to herself. Every second that crawled by only made Sylas’s presence beside her feel more and more...overwhelming.

Then the last thread of daylight vanished, and a cool breeze washed through the trees. The Moon rose up to the sky, its silver light falling through the loops in the trees and branches.

Still, it remained silent.

Then, a low hum stirred under her skin. She felt her wolf stir quietly inside of her, wondering if it was just the jitters of standing so close to Sylas for this long.

But then, the feeling wasn’t so different from yesterday.

The moment she realized it, she lifted her head to the sky and stared at the Full Moon. A full Moon lasts about three days, and yesterday was day one. Then, she looked down at Sylas and exhaled softly.

No way!

Sylas also lifted his head, listening to something inside of him and the moonlight hit his face, sharpening the angles of his jaw and making his eyes burn like molten ice.

He looked devastating.

More untamed than she had ever seen him.

Then, he slowly and deliberately let his eyes fall back to her, and it dragged all over her body.

Theo swallowed hard.

The temperature around them dropped and a different kind of heat coiled low in her stomach.

*Seraphina?* Theo called, almost taking a step back, *Is it...* She was afraid of the question itself, *Is it possible for me to have two mates?* She breathed.

*We are about to find out* Her wolf replied, lifting her head up to look at Sylas also, *He definitely feels something. Like Zeke... last night*

Sylas stepped closer instinctively, his fingers brushing her arm. The moment he touched her, the air was punched out of her lungs. It burned hot and cold at the same time and her eyes flew open.

Sylas froze.

"Theodora..." His voice actually broke.

Sylas looked like he might lose control, and his pupils had grown wide, swallowing the blue until his eyes were almost black.

"It’s the moon," he rasped, "And it’s you, "

His hand cupped her face, and she almost moaned from the contact.. He leaned in, and his lips brushed her ear.

"I’ve been holding myself back since the moment I walked up to you," he murmured, his voice like dark silk. The kind that sank into her body and made her fire tighten with need, "But right now? Under this moon? I don’t think I can anymore,"

His lips grazed the shell of her ears and she instinctively gripped the front of his shirt to keep herself from falling. Sylas has always been a walking temptation - the kind she thought she would only admire from afar, but when he was this close and saying these kind of things, she was completely helpless.

*Mine...* Seraphina growled, clawing at her chest, *He’s ours, Theo. Tell him he’s ours!*

Theo bit her lip, trying to breathe, trying to think, trying to do anything, when Sylas’s voice dropped to a sinful whisper against her mouth, "Tell me to stop," he breathed, "Because if you don’t... I won’t,"

If there’s anything she didn’t have to think about before she knew what she wanted, it’s the fact that she didn’t want him to stop. Gods, she didn’t want him to stop. She was just overwhelmed about the idea of having two mates.

And those two people had to be Zeke and Sylas.

If she remembered correctly, while she was drunk, they hated each other. They were more like sworn enemies, with a past that made their predators’ energy harsher when they were together.

Sylas pressed his forehead against hers, his veins straining. He’s kissed her before, and that made it even more difficult for him to hold back in this situation because he wanted more of that taste.

He wanted her.

Theo’s pulse thundered, "Sylas..." She actually had no words. His name was only on her lips.

His thumb brushed her lower lip slowly and sensually, and she shuddered.

"You’re not imagining this," he said, "You’re not cursed. You’re not unlucky. You’re mine,"

A soft, helpless sound escaped her throat, and the words finally fell out, "And I am yours,"

It was a truth she no longer pushed away, and obstructed with her raging thoughts about what could happen in the future. She’s always lived for the present ever since she walked into Gravemont, and this right here...was happening right now.

Without thinking anymore, she grabbed his shirt and pulled even closer, "I accept you," she whispered, her voice breaking.

Sylas inhaled sharply, like she’d just punched the air out of him.

And then he kissed her.

His hands slid into her hair, his mouth crashing onto hers with a feral hunger finally breaking free. Theo melted into him, her fingers clutching his shirt wishing she could drag him into her very soul.

The bond flared, scorching hot and freezingly cold, wrapping around them like fire and moonlight.

She felt him everywhere. She wanted him everywhere.

Sylas broke the kiss just long enough to breathe against her lips, "Moonlight looks good on you, Venom,"

Theo shivered.

Then she kissed him again with more need.

Sylas didn’t hold back at all. The Moon’s effect and days of restraining himself had every atom of restraint tossed to the side, and he consumed her lips with a kind of desire that had her gasping and moaning against him.

"The way you respond to me," He breathed against her skin, "You have no idea what it does to me,"

His hand slid up her waist, drawing her closer. The cold of his palm penetrated her cloth, and she arched more into him.

He lifted her chin with two fingers, forcing her to meet his eyes. The Moonlight hit him again, revealing his mussed hair and his shirt even more undone from her pulling.

"I’m aware that I’m supposed to be your teacher, and I shouldn’t be touching you like this...," He murmured, "But I can’t stop,"

His lips brushed against her lips again, and he nibbled on her lower lip. She clutched his shoulders so hard her nails dug into his skin.

"How sensitive you are...," He chuckled darkly, pulling back a little as his teeth grazed her throat. She shivered again, "You’re driving me insane, Venom,"

Then, his hands slid into her shirt, trailing up till they brushed against the curve of the underside of her breasts. She felt him hesitate, his self-control shaking badly, "I’m older, and I should be gentler with you. I should be the one with restraint, but...," He brushed her pulse point, and she almost jumped, "But you make me forget every rule I ever gave myself,"

"Good," She breathed harshly, "I’m glad I do that to you,"

He growled against her skin, and his hand slid up even further, touching a part of her that ached so much for him.
