Chapter 105: I will make you mine.

There has always been something about these overwhelming feelings. And it had started the moment Hellcat had walked into the Greenhouse and had hidden behind the overturned desk.

Someone had disturbed his peace.

He didn’t know exactly when the feelings had started to spread, but he knew that every encounter with him, every time they argued, every time he woke up and found him looking back up at him, his heart would leap.

It was easy to ignore at the beginning, till it wasn’t. He tried to throw it away, tried to grow more armour and get Hellcat out of his head, but always found himself curious about him, about where he was, about who he was with.

And then, the night of Ashwood retreat, the feelings finally hit him hard. Especially when Hellcat had touched him. He couldn’t forget. Not even for a second.

Zeke never did guys.

Ever.

He was straight. He was goddamn straight. And even being straight, he never felt anything with the women he associated with.

But anytime he stared into those amber eyes, he felt like slipping. Anytime he looked at those lips, he felt a magnetic pull. And anytime Hellcat smiled, he caught himself unable to look away.

He didn’t know what the hell was wrong with him. It was annoying as fuck.

He kept telling himself he wasn’t turning gay, and yet every night he would pull the guy even closer and lock him in between his arms, tighter than the night before.

So when he found the courage, let himself slip, and finally kissed Hellcat, he told himself there would be no going back. He couldn’t even turn back if he wanted to.

He was ready to embrace what he felt. He was ready to put it all on the line.

But right now, Hellcat’s words echoed in his head, clear and sharp, ’My heart will always belong to Eric’

Zeke has heard people talk about heartbreak before. It sounded genuinely stupid to him, like some foreign feeling and language. When he had read about it in the Romance novels, he thought it might have been too exaggerated.

Till now.

What he felt right now was almost as if someone had taken a fist and driven it through his heart.

Zeke didn’t move.

He couldn’t. His fingers went numb where he held her, and then slipped away entirely as he slowly withdrew.

Inside him, his chest kept twisting with an old, familiar emotion he thought he had buried deep.

Eric.

It had to be Eric.

Eric, the Favoured one.

Eric, the lucky one.

He thought he didn’t care anymore. That none of it mattered anymore.

Until now that she said it.

Hellcat was choosing Eric over him.

The question screamed in his skull, but he didn’t let it come out. He forced himself to breathe and forced the fire in his chest to remain trapped there and not burst forward.

Anger would be easier. And what he felt right now was not anger.

He couldn’t even describe it. All he knew was that it was heavy, suffocating, and had drained every drop of energy he had in him.

"Eric won’t choose you," He said, his voice too controlled.

"It doesn’t matter," She said flatly, "I’ll wait for as long as it takes," She added.

"I see," He nodded stiffly, "You’re choosing Eric no matter what,"

He hated how her words made him shake even more, and he hated how much power she had over how feelings.

"Fine," He said it like it didn’t matter, like his chest wasn’t being ripped open. Like it didn’t feel like salt being poured over an old scar, "You should be with the one you want,"

That was not what he meant to say. He wanted to tell her what he had to do to make her start to look at him the way she looked at Eric. He wanted to tell her what made him so wrong for her.

He meant to say: Tell me what I’m doing wrong. Tell me how to fix it. Tell me anything, except his name.

But he swallowed it all down.

He could feel the tension radiating off her, and there was something she was trying to hide behind the neutral look in her eyes. Was it guilt? Pity?

He lay on the other end of his bed, and this time he did not throw his legs on hers, "Goodnight, Hellcat,"

He faced the other side, staring at the wall with heavy eyes. He couldn’t keep looking at her because he knew the truth.

He might start to beg if he continued.

And she had already made her choice.

*You give up too easily* Moon spoke inside of him.

*Shut it!* Zeke snapped brokenly.

*We are Alpha Wolves!* Moon fired back with a powerful growl, *Whatever we want, we take it! If you choose him, he’s yours automatically. You don’t give up. You’ll have to wake up every day and keep claiming him till every part of him acknowledges you...till his heart begins to speak your name! That, is how Alpha wolves work!*

Something struck Zeke’s chest, and then, he sat up slowly. Like a man gathering the pieces of himself from the floor.

Theo’s back was turned to him, small under the duvet, pretending to sleep but far too still. He could feel her breathing unevenly.

He swung his legs over the bed and walked over to her side of the bed.

For a moment, he just stared down at her, this infuriating, reckless, impossible person who kept tearing him apart and stitching him back together in the same breath.

Then, in a low, steady and undeniably husky voice of his, he said, "You can choose Eric all you want, but understand something, Hellcat..."

He knelt beside her, close enough that she could feel the heat of him, and hear every thundering beat of his heart.

"...I’m choosing you,"

She slowly rolled over, her eyes wide and startled in the dimness of the room. He held her gaze without blinking.

"I’m not backing off," he continued, his voice firm but shaking with the force of everything he felt, "I’m not walking away. And I’m sure as hell not handing you over just because you think your heart belongs somewhere else,"

She opened her mouth, but no sound came out.

Zeke leaned closer, bracing a hand on the mattress beside her head.

"You said you’ll wait for him," Zeke breathed, "Fine. Then you can watch me fight for you every single day until you stop saying his name,"

Zeke’s voice dropped to barely a whisper.

"You think your heart belongs to Eric..." His thumb brushed the edge of her pillow, so close to her cheek his knuckles grazed her breath, "...but your heart hasn’t met me properly yet,"

Theo’s throat bobbed.

"I’m not giving you up, Hellcat. Not tonight. Not tomorrow. Not until you look at me, really look at me, and your heart says my name,"

Her lips parted, and a shaky breath escaped.

Zeke straightened slightly but he didn’t step back, "I won’t touch you without permission anymore, and I won’t force anything," He swallowed hard, his eyes burning with a lethal promise, "But mark my words Hellcat, the day I catch you staring at me the same way you look at Eric, or i sniff a whisper of my name in your mind, I will let loose and god helps anyone who gets in my way,"

He exhaled softly.

"And trust me, Hellcat..." His orange eyes glowed faintly, his wolf shimmering beneath the surface, "...you will,"
