The Faceless Billionaire Celebrity Wife-Chapter 66: Sterling’s Punishment.
Ethan stopped immediately even though he was puzzled, as he had promised to do earlier.
"What’s the problem?"
"Nothing!" Shikera stood up hurriedly and wrapped her robe around herself. Cursing underneath her breath, she ran out of his room without looking back. Immediately she got into her room, she locked the door just in time before Ethan could get there.
"Shikera!" His sharp knocks resounded on her door, causing Shikera to turn around abruptly. Why did this sh*t have to happen tonight?!
She heard his steely voice again,"Did I do something wrong?"
"No!" Her answer was abrupt.
"Damn! Then, what happened?!"
There was silence for a minute in which Shikera thought he had left, but he hadn’t.
"Shi—"
"It’s...uhm, that time of the month. My period..." She interrupted him with her soft voice, and another silence ensued thereafter.
Ethan broke it for the second time, this time with his voice calmer and lower than earlier.
"Do you need me to do something?"
"No, thanks," she replied. What would he do for her? Cuddle her or transfer the pain from her to him?
"Goodnight." he wished her.
"Goodnight...I hope you have beautiful dreams."
After a brief silence, she could tell he had gone back to his room so she walked to her bathroom.
A few minutes later, she walked back out and padded on the soft rug to her bed, falling on it immediately. In a bid to ignore the dull pain in her belly, she took out her phone to watch a movie when a scene from earlier in the day popped in her mind.
—
"I can see it in your eyes. You only like or admire him, but you don’t love him."
—
"You sure, Kera?" she asked herself,"You sure you only admire him?"

Preston TV.
"Why are you carrying a bigger bag than usual?" Cyprian queried Shikera, as they stood with head bowed slightly in the financial department news room. They were awaiting the punishment of Team leader Sterling for not bringing any news on the country’s financial sector as she had instructed the previous day.
"Mr DeLoach gave that to me. There’s a warm water flask and some pain relievers in it and that’s why I had to use a bigger bag," Shikera answered, smiling at the bag as if it was human.
"Ethan DeLoach gave it to you?!" Cyprian asked again, her voice loud in the empty news room. From Cyprian’s voice, it was evident that she was shocked at what she heard.
"Yes, and he said it’s part of the contract terms so..."
The door opened just then and Shikera shut her mouth immediately, as the woman they were waiting for stepped into the room.
"Reporters Anderson and Leigh...do you guys still think you’re worthy to be addressed as two of the best reporters our station has?"
"No ma’am," the friends chorused, with their heads still bowed.
"Financial news is supposed to be the most common news you can find around you, isn’t it? Different new companies emerging everyday, many others going bankrupt, business men and women protesting on the hike in prices of goods and many others like that. Was that so hard to get?"
"No, ma’am!"
"If you were desperate enough to obey me, you could have also visited the fruits and vegetables market and interview the traders there. That’s financial too."
"Forgive us, ma’am."
"Whoops! However, since you have proved yourselves to be completely useless, I have another assignment for you," the older woman paused a while to assess their reactions, before continuing, "You both will have to entertain Lady Preston and her friends when they come here for their tour of the station." 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
"Lady Preston? The Ceo’s mother?" As always, Shikera was the first to ask.
"Correct! You both will lead the tour and make sure they have no complaints whatsoever."
"But..." Cyprian tried to protest. The task they were assigned to was one which was normally handled by the team leaders of all departments at Preston TV. Even though they were experts, they always found it hard to please those hard headed noble women so how did they expect her and Shikera to do it flawlessly? Wasn’t this plain wickedness?
"No buts. Get yourselves ready and wait for them on the ground floor. Unless you want me to direct the busy reporters to do it instead while leaving you idle ones alone." As she was done instructing them, Team leader Sterling left the room.
Cyprian sighed, turning to Shikera,"You think you can walk around? Should I do it alone?"
"Why wouldn’t I be able to walk around?" Shikera raised her brows at her.
"Mr DeLoach gave you pain killers and warm water. Why else would he give you that? Is the pain bearable?"
"It is."
Cyprian stared at her for a minute, before nodding in approval."The moment you feel weak, let me know, okay?"
"Alright mamma!" Shikera joked, which turned futile as it didn’t bring a smile on Cyprian’s face.
The latter pulled Shikera closer to herself and said,"No jokes, Kera. Remember I’m not your father or your husband, so don’t think you are burdening me. Understood?"
"Aye, Captain!"
Finally letting her lips curve up into a smile, Cyprian pulled Shikera with her out of the room, and led the way to the elevator.
An hour passed with them standing at the large doors, yet there was still no sign of Lady Preston and her friends.
"I’m getting tired," Shikera whispered, taking a sip of the warm water from the flask she was carrying. The pain in her belly seemed to be increasing, as the time she spent standing increased.
"Can you go upstairs yourself? Just go wait in ent. department so no one would bother you," Cyprian said, her voice laced with evident concern. No matter the kind of pain people felt, Shikera would always feel triple times the pain.
"I’ll wait ten minutes more." Her eyes roamed around for the umpteenth time, and she caught sight of Andrew approaching them.
"Mr. Lane is walking towards us, Cyprian. He’s probably coming to welcome his mother too."
She was right because, just at that moment, the doors opened and the group of five women sashayed inside. The women looked around for those who were supposed to escort them, and Shikera and Cyprian were quick to step forward.
"Good..."
"Welcome, Missus’!" Andrew took the greeting out of their mouths, as he smiled at the group of women.
The woman at the forefront frowned,"Andrew, why won’t you let them talk?"
Seeing that his mother was about to get angry, his smile grew wider.
"Mother, this is Shikera Anderson,"he gestured to Shikera then to Cyprian,"...and Cyprian Leigh."
Shikera and Cyprian who were simply watching the show, were surprised when the frown on the five women’s face transformed into smiles.
Andrew’s mother stepped forward.
"It’s so nice to finally meet you, Shikera."
