Chapter 61: Entertainment Reporters Turned Financial Reporters.

Raymond paused abruptly, not because he didn’t expect anyone to be home at this time but because the voice which called out for him was his boss’s. When last had Ethan come to their own Villa at the back? Most of the time, he usually called so why was he here today? And at such a bad time!

An apologetic look in his eyes, he pecked Cyprian on her lips and covered her body with the sheets before standing up from the bed.

He walked down the stairs and to the living room to see that Ethan was already settled on the sofa.

He sighed loudly, as if to announce his presence and Ethan’s attention was attracted.

"Raymond," Ethan called in a suspicious tone as his gaze held Raymond’s.

Eager to listen to Ethan and leave, Raymond stated his concern.

"Today is Sunday," he reminded, as Ethan had added in the job contract that he would have Sundays to himself.

"I know that," Ethan nodded, his eyes still not leaving Raymond’s. He continued, "But I think you have also forgotten that I signed the contract with Shikera’s friend, so she can visit Shikera whenever she wants and not you..."

An evil grin spread on his face when he was done talking, as he took in the defeated expression Raymond was wearing at this moment. How dare he take a woman up to his bedroom when even his Boss hadn’t done that to his wife?

Raymond smiled too, thinking he could lie his way out. He didn’t bother asking how Ethan knew Cyprian was here but instead went straight to the point.

"Uhm... Miss Leigh did come here to see Miss Anderson but since she wasn’t around, I decided to entertain Miss Leigh here till you arrived."

"Ah...that explains why I don’t see her around, not here or in the kitchen. Is your bedroom your entertainment ground, Mr Stone?" Ethan joked.

Raymond was speechless and he could only stare at Ethan as the latter stood up and walked out of the house. Why the heck had he come here in the first place and spoil the mood?!

"Hey Sweetie!" Shikera greeted her friend, before settling down in her own seat and lifting her hand up to check the time. A relieved sigh escaped her lips as she noticed she was ten minutes earlier that the normal sign-in time at Preston TV. Seems like their Team leader wouldn’t have anyone to scream at today.

Thinking of the older woman, Shikera turned to check if the woman was in her seat but found it empty.

"Rian, where’s Team leader Zuresh?" She asked, her eyes not leaving the empty seat. She didn’t receive an answer even after a few minutes so she turned to see that her friend had zoned out.

"Down to earth, Rian! What were you thinking about?" She tapped Cyprian’s shoulder, making her snap out of her thoughts.

"You’re here, Kera?"

"No, I’m still in the parking lot. What were you thinking about?" She frowned.

Cyprian who had been thinking about the previous day couldn’t bring herself to tell Shikera so she changed the subject, saying,

"You are early today."

"Yeah, I couldn’t sleep much so. Where’s Team leader?"

"I’m not sure but she was here thirty minutes ago and suddenly had to leave. She asked both of us to report to the Financial News department and stay there for a week until she comes back," Cyprian relayed, leaning into her seat when she was done talking.

"She didn’t tell you why? How about Vicky and the rest?"

Cyprian answered, "I think she will be on field for a few days so she won’t need our help. She only needs Vicky, Atlas and Josh since they will be on desk."

She continued when Shikera nodded to show her understanding, "I was waiting for you. Let’s be on our way."

Few minutes later, the both of them were one floor below the entertainment department’s floor, and were standing in front of the seats assigned to them which was located in the place they found most uncomfortable.

Apart from the fact that the both of them loved sitting beside each other, Shikera hated sitting beside the window because of her health and Cyprian hated sitting in a chair which was situated right beside their Team leader. Why would a lazy student want to become the teacher’s pet.

Shikera, being the more outspoken one, was the first to complain about her seat.

"Excuse me, ma’am. Can I change seats with anyone..."

Before she was done talking, the woman cut her off. "You can’t. If there was any other available seat, I would have asked you to sit there, no?"

Seeing that her new Team leader was not much different from her previous one in terms of craziness, Shikera slowly inched towards the chair beside the window and took her seat. She signaled to Cyprian to do the same and the latter complied, with the thought, ’If Kera’s sweet nature can’t convince her, then I better not waste my time."

Three Hours Later.

[Are we going to spend our whole day without doing anything?]- Shikera.

[Don’t know. But I will definitely be super comfortable if that’s the case.] - Cyprian.

[Lazy bone. Btw* there’s a guy who has been staring at you for a while now.]- Shikera.

[I’m not surprised. There are ten guys staring at Ethan DeLoach’s property right now. Say, why is there a scarcity of members in the entertainment department but an abundance in the financial department. They aren’t counting money, right?]- Cyprian.

"Of course, we aren’t. Dumb head."

Shikera and Cyprian were so engrossed in texting each other that they didn’t notice someone was already behind Cyprian. As soon as she heard the voice behind her, Cyprian jolted and switched off her phone.

"Who the f*ck..." She trailed off, seeing it was their Team leader. Were all Team leaders this annoying?

"Ma’am! That was an infringement on my right to privacy. You were reading my text," she cried out in mock indignation. Her ’pity mode’ was fully displayed. She glanced at the woman’s ID card to check her name.

"Arya Sterling," it read.

Team leader Sterling chuckled, staring down at the offended face of the new reporter who just resumed in her department. As the entertainment department was not filled by ordinary Reporter but by extremely skilled ones, she already heard about these two field reporters who were sent here today.

Coupled with the ruckus which shook their whole station a week ago, she couldn’t have known a member of another department as much as she knew this too. Because of that, she had heard of how they were the ones who made their team leader yell all the time.

"Reporter Leigh, seems you forgot that you’re a reporter... except you haven’t infringed on a person’s right since you started working."

"That’s a totally different situation," Cyprian was totally ready to argue this matter out when the woman raised her hand up to stop her from talking.

"I don’t need your input." She called out to Shikera who was a few metres away from them,"Reporter Anderson, and Reporter Leigh, you both aren’t in the entertainment department so discard everything about Ethan DeLoach for now. You can get something about DL Corporation or any of the Mega Corporations though, if you’re able to get anything till your hair grows white."

She laughed and continued,"Meanwhile, my point is, don’t dream too high but make sure you get something newsworthy. Every day!" She walked back to her seat when she was done orientating them, and just as she expected from the stubborn new reporters, they went back to texting themselves.

[OMG! Preston TV doesn’t have one sane team leader.]- Shikera.

[Thank God she didn’t fully understand my text about Ethan DeLoach’s property. I’ll be careful from now on as we are now working with creeps...]- Cyprian.

[You should. How are we gonna get financial news? I can’t ask Ethan lest he gets angry...]- Shikera

[Then, we will have to hunt for it, just like the others do. Want me to come over tonight?]- Cyprian.

[Yep! I’ll alert Ethan in advance...]- Shikera.
