Raymond brows furrowed in confusion. Though he could remember the day he met Cyprian, he could not remember what they talked about therefore he did not know he asked about Miss Anderson. Thank God he could remember that it was his boss that sent him there, if not, how would he have explained.

"That’s because that was what I came to your hostel for. I wanted to deliver a message to her, on behalf of my Boss and..."

"Who’s your boss?" Cyprian cut him off, her strict tone showing that she needed answers immediately.

"I can’t say that," Raymond answered. "And in the questions I will answer, don’t ask me about my Boss too... unless you want to see me as a disabled man next time."

Cyprian scoffed, even though she could understand him. That was the same way he had acted four years ago, always fidgeting about a Boss whose information he never let out, even if he was drunk.

"If you were simply relaying a message then you could have simply done that and forget about it. Why did you keep on asking about her from everyone we met, even after we started dating?" That was the second question and Raymond didn’t find it hard to answer.

"Because my Boss liked her and even though we tried getting information about her, using his power, we were met with a hard wall." He explained. "There was no other choice than to get it straight from the mouth of students and not knowing anyone in your university, I could only ask you and your friends. I didn’t know you knew her!"

Cyprian nodded now, her expression suddenly turning serious.

"Here’s the real question, was I the only girl you knew in our university? When I sent you the break up text, why did you text me back saying you were ready to let me go since you wanted to appease for your sin? And why did you send that text message to Kera immediately after, before you disappeared?" She was panting as she had voiced out the questions the same way they came to her mind.

"Wait...Is that all? That was what made you disappear and stop picking up your phone?" He couldn’t believe what he was hearing. If he answered this question, the doubts Cyprian had since four years ago would be cleared but was that all? He knew how tenacious she was, even though they had dated for only three months, and he knew she would not disappear over some little events that she didn’t witness with her eyes. There had to be something else she was not telling him and that, was the real misunderstanding he needed to resolve in order for their future to be stress free.

"That’s all, answer my questions," Cyprian replied him, averting her eyes from his unwavering gaze. That was all she needed to know for her to forgive Raymond, if she didn’t want to cause more pain for herself.

If there was one thing Cyprian learnt from Shikera, it was that life was too short for her not to enjoy the time she had now. Shikera might have been told by her doctor that she had less than five years to live but for her, who knew what would happen the next day? And that was why she wasn’t going to dwell on the past anymore.

As long as Raymond didn’t date Shikera in the past, and was also not dating her now, then everything would be okay, Cyprian thought as she raised her eyes back to Raymond’s while waiting for his answer.

"I didn’t know any other girl who attended the same university as you, except Miss Anderson of course. I didn’t see any break up text and that was why I concluded that you disappeared; the time was also kind of hectic for my boss so I was caught up in work and I didn’t have time. When everything was alright, you went abroad with your friend. Finally I didn’t send the text message, my boss did send it to her that night but he didn’t see her after that day, because of the issue I mentioned before, which took up all our time," he concluded.

"Alright then, you are forgiven and I also apologize for misunderstanding. Goodbye, Mr Stone." Saying that, she turned away from him and walked away.

"DIDN’T I WARN YOU?!"

Shikera had to block her ears with her hands, to avoid getting herself deaf with the yell directed at her.

"I am sorry, Ma’am!" She exclaimed, cursing Ethan in her mind as this was all his fault.

"And what is your excuse?" Team leader Zuresh asked, brimming with anger as she stared at the adorable but annoying girl standing before her.

Shikera repeated the excuse she had decided on, a week ago.

"I am pregnant!" She announced, closing her eyes in fear of the thunder that would strike her the next moment. She knew her Team leader would not believe her, however, she missed the horror streaked look that flashed through Ashley Zuresh’s face.

"What did you just say?" The older woman asked, her voice too calm for Shikera’s fast beating heart.

She knew that this woman would not believe her but Shikera didn’t know she would be this angry.

"I was just joking! I didn’t come because I was really really sick!" She blurted out, opening her eyes to see her Team leader breath out in relief. Why she looked so bothered, Shikera couldn’t tell.

"You can go!"

Shikera didn’t waste a second before she bolted out of the News room where the woman had called her to, to scold her. She sprinted to her seat and slumped on it when she was finally there.

"I thought I wouldn’t get out of there alive," she panted, with her chest heaving up and down as if she just ran a marathon race.

"You deserved it. But what happened, Kera? Didn’t you know that you are not allowed to take alcohol?" Cyprian, who had been sitting on Shikera’s desk while waiting for her to arrive from the News room, whispered.

"I really can’t remember what happened but I know I can’t be that stupid to drink something that can harm me that much. Eth—my husband had to nurse me back to health without any medications!"

With raised eyebrows, Cyprian added that to the mental note she had on Shikera’s husband. Now that she was sure Raymond had nothing to do with Shikera, she could continue investigating her friend’s husband.

"Uhm...Kera, you’re married to Raymond Stone’s boss, right?" She asked, wanting to narrow down her search focus.

Shikera looked up, shock evident in her eyes.

"How did you know?!" She exclaimed.

"Why are you so surprised? I’m just asking...By the way, I knew Raymond from college so..."

"Ohhh, was that why I saw you with him in the garage?"

Just as Cyprian expected, Shikera’s expression was blank, which meant her friend had nothing to do with Raymond.

Their conversation was interrupted when their Team leader suddenly came in, yelling, 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞

"Get yourselves ready, guys! Baron’s corpse has been found in his uncle’ s backyard. His uncle has been arrested by the police and they have concluded that he’s the culprit, which is actually very shady...but as we do here at Preston TV, we prove them wrong in their shady cases. Let’s find the truth!"

Shikera, Cyprian, Erica and Jaden, who were the field reporters, picked up their jotters and cameras as they filed out of the room. The rest of the team members got on their computers and the room was suddenly busy, with each of them walking from one computer to the other as they searched for clues.

Baron Cohen, the boy, whose corpse was found, was an high school senior who suddenly went missing on the day he was supposed to collect the grand prize for a national science competition.

In this case, where his corpse was now found, the first suspect alongside his uncle whose backyard he was found, was supposed to be the runner up who took the prize in his stead but the police ignored it. The way in which the deceased uncle was hastily concluded as the culprit was also shady, as no news was released to the press concerning what motive he had for killing his nephew and that was why Preston TV wanted to dig into the case on their own.

"The spy said Miss Anderson is currently working on a murder case," Raymond informed Ethan whose head shot up immediately he heard the news.
