The Faceless Billionaire Celebrity Wife-Chapter 210: Getting A Phone.
"We—we can’t find her. She only left a message for you, through Miss McCallum and that is...’i signed the divorce papers’."
Ethan raised his brows, staring at Ruthlyn like she was speaking a completely different language from the one he was familiar with.
"What are you saying?" he asked gently, the calmness in his voice scaring the others in the living room.
Ruthlyn inhaled deeply, summoning up courage to rephrase her words.
"I met Miss McCallum yesterday...and she told me Shikera only met her briefly before leaving. She asked her to visit me and tell me—"
"Tell you what?" Ethan interrupted.
’There,’ Ruthlyn thought, ’It’s getting to him.’
She continued,"She wanted me to tell you that she signed the divorce papers and that she placed them in the top drawer of her bedside table."
Ethan didn’t say anything, his gaze fixed unwaveringly on Ruthlyn. They stayed that way for five minutes until Enoch came to stand between them, breaking Ethan’s gaze.
"Oh..uh...Ethan, what do we—" he struggled for words to say when Ethan cut him off.
"What the fuck did you just say, Ruthlyn?"
No one replied him, fearing the descent of his wrath on them as they knew they could not escape him. With what had happened now, they were sure even Chris would get his share of Ethan’s anger.
Looking from one person’s face to another until his eyes had touched all of them, Ethan walked away from them towards the stairs. He climbed it with speed that the others could not comprehend and headed straight to Shikera’s room door, swinging the door open as soon as he got there.
The room was just as she had left it the previous day, with the litters of paper lying on her study table. He walked to the drawer and pulled it out, reaching in to take out the stack of papers that were at the very top. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
He flipped the pages, reading only their headings until he got to the last page, where his eyes strayed down to the bottom of the page.
Her signature sat gracefully there.
Feeling the presence of someone behind him, he whispered, "Tell your father I am on my way."
★★★
The time was 12pm already! Just how many hours did she sleep for?
Shikera rose up from the bed with a start and looked around the room, as if trying to remember where she was. She felt a dull ache rising in her head as she recalled the events of the previous day.
"Shit! I am supposed to be looking for a place to stay by now," she murmured, climbing out of bed. She walked to the window and opened it, before turning to start cleaning the room. The room was already clean so she just had to make the bed and push her luggage to one side; she would have to beg the woman to allow her stay one more night here so she could use today to hunt for an apartment to rent.
Satisfied with the look of the room when she was done, Shikera opened her luggage box and took out a jean trousers and white t-shirt which she wanted to wear for the day. She then walked out of the room to find the bathroom to take her bath.
As she walked around the room, she made a mental note to get a phone as soon as she could so she would be able to keep up with the status of things in the city. From her short walk around the house, she had noticed the absence of a TV which was a good thing in one way and a bad one on the other hand.
The good thing being that lack of a television showed her that the probability of the people of this town knowing who she was, was very low. She did not have to fear that anyone would recognize her from Elovien’s Spotlight.
On the other hand, the bad effect was that she now felt it compulsory to get a phone. With no one to call or speak to, and as she also knew she had to stay away from social media to avoid Ethan or Liam tracking her, buying a phone was just like buying her destruction with her own hand. She was not sure she would be able to keep from social media if she bought a phone...
"Oh, that’s the bathroom!" Shikera exclaimed in relief, when her eyes caught the two wooden door right beside themselves which had a ’Knock before you enter’ sign on it.
~~~
Shikera walked out of the door and stared down at the long street and the road that led down to the beach. Everywhere was just as quiet as it was last midnight and she wondered where the town members went to, especially the woman.
’Let’s just check the beach first,’ she decided, setting out on the walk down the street. From staring at all the doors she passed by, she noticed that they all wrote their family name on the door. She had passed by a Parker’s door, a Stanley’s, a Brown’s, a Langston’s, and a Qinn’s.
By the time she was tired of reading the names out, she looked up to see that she was already at beach which was bare just like the streets were.
"This is getting suspicious. Something didn’t come in the middle of the night to take them all away, right?" she asked out loud.
"What would come take us away?" A voice echoed from behind her, causing her to turn abruptly on her heels.
"Nothing of..." Shikera trailed off on seeing the speaker’s face. She blinked and rubbed her eyes, expecting the figure to dissapear, but it didn’t.
"Is anything the matter?" the person asked again, but Shikera was too tongue-tied to answer.
Apart from this person’s face, the voice was also familiar and Shikera knew she was not mistaken.
This person standing in front of her...was Mignon DeLoach.
