"That’s true. And I especially chose Ethan for that because I know how much he hates reporters and how rigid he is. Forget that, Chris, and let’s get back to the matter at hand. Ethan took perfect care of her already and I am ready to transfer the shares, not minding if Shikera turned out to be my daughter or not, so what is her problem with all this?"

Chris nodded,"Let’s get this straight. Ethan did not ’touch’ her so you are fulfilling the terms of the contract now; that’s a different case. Now, I’m asking what you plan to do to her when she finally divorces Ethan?"

"I told you this already. She will stay with me and if I have to adopt her to give her that status as a princess once again, I will gladly do so. The worst that can happen is that she lives as Elizabeth’s twin!"

From where Shikera was, she could deduce from her father’s agitated voice that he was angry. She held her breath and stayed quiet, wanting to hear the conclusion of the men’s discussion.

"That’s not the worst, Liam. You talk like this only concerns you when it concerns every member of the Mega families. From what your source and mine found out, Shikera is like a part of the Jordans. What if they suddenly approach her and...Liam, my point is that she being anywhere near us is just like keeping danger under our roof. There is a high chance that the Jordans will approach her just like they have done before and will manipulate her this time!" Chris stated.

"I understand all you are saying but my answer remains the same. Dangerous or not, she will remain my daughter and I won’t just throw her out because her presence can mean my downfall."

Shikera walked away from there. She didn’t need to hear more because...she just realized that her presence could mean the downfall of so many people around her. Her father, all members of the Mega families, and finally, Ethan.

She had been praying to get pregnant some months ago, not knowing she was actually digging for both her and his downfall. If she got pregnant, that was direct evidence that he touched her and his father would have to give up all of his shares to Liam. This whole situation was confusing!

But she knew the confusion would be diffused, as long as she was out of the picture.

With that thought in mind, Shikera took out her phone and dialled Noah’s number. She was not sure if he was going to pick up the call, and he didn’t. There goes her last thread of connection to the Mega families.

Struggling to regain her composure, she walked back to the table with a bright smile on her face.

"It’s my birthday dinner and there’s no cake? Where does this happen?" she asked in disbelief, surprising everyone at the table with her suddenly cheery tone.

"What? Today is mummy’s birthday?!" Esther screamed in excitement. She looked around the table at the shocked faces of everyone, and her face fell. "I didn’t get a gift for mummy. Don’t tell me everyone here did not too."

Ethan went on eating like what Esther said did not concern him. Enoch, Raymond and Ruthlyn had this guilty expressions on their faces and one could tell at a glance that they totally forgot that it was Shikera’s birthday.

"I’m sorry, Mummy. Don’t worry, i will get you a gift next time," Esther promised.

Shikera was about to assure her that she was alright, when Elizabeth chimed in, "It’s my birthday too. Don’t forget to get me a gift next time."

"Uh...okay," Esther replied. She then turned to her grandmother,"Where is mummy’s cake?" 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

Raine was flustered, as she believed that Shikera was not supposed to be able to eat cake. Why did she suddenly ask for it?

Shikera seemed to guess her thoughts, for she replied to it immediately,

"It’s alright, I can eat sweets for a day every week. I will eat the cake today and then forget about ice cream on Saturday."

"I didn’t prepare a cake. Should I just order one then?" Raine asked.

"Yes! Just that the delivery must get here as early as possible since we still have to return home," Shikera replied and continued with her meal.

The bright smile on her face stayed there till dinner and dessert was over, and even until after the cake was demolished. In short, she kept her cheerful mood up all through the time until it started getting dark and the moon appeared up in the sky.

"Do I get your rooms ready for tonight?" Raine inquired, hoping that they were planning to stay behind at the mansion for tonight. However, even though she expected that her offer would be refused, she didn’t think it would be by Shikera.

"No, I have a lot of things to do at home. And I’m sure Ethan does too."

Ethan backed her words up with a nod, rising up from his seat to join her in standing.

"Let’s go," he ordered.

"Give me five minutes to say goodbye to daddy. I will join you outside." Without waiting for a reply, she rushed into the hallway that led to the study.

"Daddy!" she yelled out loud, subtly trying to alert Liam before she got there. Her tactic worked and he immediately came out of the study.

"What’s wrong, Shikera?"

"Nothing. Just wanted to say goodbye...and also tell you that I will be heading home now," she announced cheerfully.

Liam was surprised at her enthusiasm.

"A minute, will you take the divorce paper home? It appears Chris has already prepared it," he said.

"Really? Can I get it now?" She couldn’t be more delighted that there was a faster way to cut ties with everyone in this house.

Liam smiled, thinking that Shikera could not wait any longer to divorce Ethan and come back to him.

"Wait here, I will get it for you," he pronounced.
