The Faceless Billionaire Celebrity Wife-Chapter 180: Favor.

As Skyler walked to the car that Ruthlyn had arranged to take her back to Preston TV, she replayed the content of the contracts in her head.

She had to take Shikera to the new home which had been provided by Ethan and pretend it was hers; she had to make sure Shikera’s every need was met with, and she was free to inform Miss Stone if it seemed too impossible. She was also told that Ruthlyn would deliver meals to the house every day and she had to wake up as early as she could to get it, and then pretend as if she cooked it for Shikera.

Finally, her main job was to make sure she was awake every midnight to lead Shikera back to bed if she happened to wake up. Even though Skyler had not minded since the benefits attached to this minor chores were astronomical, Ethan had promised that it would all be over in less than two weeks.

He didn’t even bother to brief Skyler about the situation, but she had guessed that Shikera angrily left home for a particular reason, and Ethan was trying to bring her back.

By the time she was done going over the things she was required to do in her mind, she had already gotten to the car. She sat down in the back seat and with a smile, told the driver she was ready.

Then she sat back on her seat and began to daydream about the benefits that had been included in the contract. The first one being that her father would be freed from prison, the second one was that her family would return to their former status in the society, and third was that the house Ethan wanted to buy for her to live with Shikera, would be registered in her own name.

The last but not the least, was that both the Anderson and DeLoach families would forever be indebted to her.

’By the way, why was I the one approached for this and not Cyprian?’ she wondered.

Back at the office.

Raymond and Enoch stepped inside the office immediately they saw Skyler leave. Ruthlyn had assumed the chair Skyler was sitting on earlier, and the rest took their seats on the nearest chair to themselves.

"Did you see her, Ruth?"

"I did. She was with Shikera so I could not approach her, I just had to dodge them," Ruthlyn replied.

"How about you, Raymond? How is it going?" he asked again.

"The same as before, with everything just as confusing. The only loopholes we are cross-checking are the ones where Mrs Natalia still doesn’t recognize some people from the past, and where she also behaves out of character," Raymond reported.

Without opening his mouth, Ethan nodded and threw a questioning glance at Enoch.

The latter understood the message and began,"I saw Shikera when I went there today and I created a lousy excuse to disable her from leaving the hotel for now. She was not scared though and I think she was actually waiting for someone to pick her up. Cyprian, maybe."

"She didn’t even tell Cyprian so that’s out of the options," Raymond pointed out.

"And that can only leave Leonard Alexander and—" Ruthlyn suggested, but Ethan cut her off.

"He is not the one. He was particularly chatty while we were having the lessons last night so I don’t think he knew anything at the time. Also, Shikera would not agree to stay with him."

"Then who? We must know the person so we can plan ahead on how to convince him or her to..." Enoch trailed off, when he saw his older brother removing his phone from his shirt pocket.

Ethan scrolled through his phone list, looking for a particular number with a concentrated gaze. When he finally saw the one he was looking for, he dialled it and the call connected after a ring.

"Hello," his tone was unsure.

"Why did you call?" Came the familiar voice from the other side of the line. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

"Did you promise to help her find a space?" he asked.

"I did. And don’t bother me...Shit!"

Ethan separated the phone from his ear when the other person started cursing, and only put it back when the line went silent.

"That should be a mission, right?" he inquired.

"What else would make me react like that?" the other person asked back.

Ethan sighed, going straight to the point. "Since you are also very busy, then I should just get straight to my reason for calling. Give an excuse for not being able to get her a place of her own. She won’t eat well if she stays alone, and also needs constant supervision. Lastly, she sleeps...well, but still needs someone to watch over her so what were you thinking by trying to get her somewhere to live alone?"

"As long as you continue to keep watch over her, I won’t need to bother myself. Got to go!"

Beep!

The call was disconnected and Ethan dropped the phone.

"Who is it?" Raymond asked.

"Noah Anderson," Ethan replied disinterestedly.

"How did you get his contact number? I heard they rarely use their phones," Ruthlyn asked. She wouldn’t have been surprised if Ethan was able to get the number of any other person, even if he had never seen the person, but this one she was talking about was Noah Anderson, a member of the Mega families.

"I found it on my phone. It was suspicious that he supported me right from the start whenever it concerned his sister," Ethan replied.

"He hacked your phone?! Do you want me to take it to a technician?" Raymond asked, prepared to get back to work.

"Leave it be. He doesn’t trespass."

Raymond excused himself while Ruthlyn walked to Ethan’s table to check the progress he had made in working, but there was none. Just like it was yesterday.

Resting on the couch, Enoch watched as Ethan pulled the tie off his neck, his expression grim and his usually sharp, black eyes, now dull. Anyone who heard about what happened yesterday, but had no clue about who turned out not to be the biological child of a wealthy man, might think it was Ethan if they saw him like this.

Skyler alighted from the car and walked through the large doors of Preston TV, instead of Preston Media House. She was pretty sure that Shikera would be with Cyprian presently, and she was right, for she met Shikera sitting in her usual desk in the entertainment department.

The atmosphere was not awkward in any way, and Shikera also didn’t seem like the same person who had talked to her and Maxwell earlier.

"Hello, everyone!" she yelled, calling the attention of everyone to herself.

Shikera excused herself when she saw it was Skyler.

"Any problem?"

"No, not at all. I just wanted to ask if you could do me a small favor," Skyler asked, her voice lower than normal.

Shikera led her outside, and Cyprian joined them immediately, her eyes expressing the worry she had for Shikera. Skyler could tell that she came outside for Shikera.

"Even though I’m not sure I can help you with the favor, I should listen to it first," Shikera said.

"This is it...," Skyler trailed off, trying to pretend that she was hesitant in asking Shikera.

She continued when she could see that Shikera was already curious,"The thing is that, I saw you at HOTC hotel yesterday and...I thought you might be there for one reason or the other. I’m not trying to pry but I just got a new apartment and you can stay with me, a week or less...or even more! You can pay me the normal charges that you would pay an hotel, and I will provide you with all the things you will find in an hotel."

Shikera stared intently at Skyler, searching her eyes for any sign of a joke.

"Why?" she asked simply.

Skyler was surprised. Was this the first thing Shikera was going to ask? She didn’t even bother to ask how she knew she was at an hotel.

"I need money. The amount you pay at the hotel for that one week can even pay forty percent of my mortgage, so why should I let such an opportunity pass me by?"

Cyprian watched the two of them staring at each other, and decided to butt in,"Shikera can stay with me if she wants to get out of the hotel. She doesn’t have to rent—"

"It’s alright, Rian," Shikera interjected. Turning back to Skyler, she added,"I will call you when I’m done thinking about it. You should go now."

"Thanks! Another thing, Maxwell decided not to send your message to the higher ups. He believes you will come back soon so don’t hesitate to call him if you want to change your mind about the contract termination."

She walked away from Shikera and Cyprian, hoping that former would call her in a few hours time. She still had to go and check out the house that was bought for her.
