The Faceless Billionaire Celebrity Wife-Chapter 106: INVADED!

Present Day.

Chris jolted out of his reverie, hearing Ethan’s voice reaching out to him.

"I just asked a question. Did you come to ask me about Raymond travelling out of the country?"

"Not at all. I just wanted to ask if you are alright. You have been helping me this past few months and I want to know if it hasn’t been too troublesome," he smiled, trying to dissolve the suspicions he could spot in Ethan’s eyes now.

"It’s nothing, you said it isn’t for free," Ethan replied him, his later sentence meant to show Chris he didn’t forget what happened. Now, the problem was getting Chris to tell him what exactly he would get for this and what was also at risk if he defied the contract. That way, he would be focused solely on avoiding every harms the contract would bring while enjoying his time with Shikera at the same time.

"I did say that. It’s just something I have been requesting from Liam for so long and he finally agreed to give me in return for signing that contract," Chris agreed. Noticing how Ethan’s black eyes sparkled in curiosity, he was quick to change the topic, "I wanted to ask you how your cooperation with Lucian Groups was going, is it going to be beneficial to only Anderson Corp. or DL can join in somewhere?"

But his son had ignored him already, looking down at his phone instead with the frown on his face still intact.

"I will see you at home then," Chris called out, turning immediately as he could tell that his son had shifted to the bratty and nonchalant personality.

Oblivious to his father’s mood, Ethan was looking intently down at his phone and wondering why it wasn’t ringing yet. It had been five hours since she left now so she was supposed to have arrived in wherever the place was so why had she not called him yet. He would have called earlier if not for fear of being termed as clingy, but now he wasn’t sure if he cared about what he was termed as.

Dropping his phone and retrieving another from the drawer, he called the number on the speed dial one and waited as it rang.

The call was connected on the very first ring and a voice, low, cold and steely just like Ethan’s, spoke, "Ethan? You have been calling so much these days."

"Which is something I absolutely hate to do, but have no choice on. Where’s my wife?" He asked, not bothering to exchange pleasantries.

"She’s cool...and beautiful too," the voice replied, holding a teasing tone now.

Ethan didn’t seem to notice that however, as his next words came out in a growl.

"Ezekias, don’t you dare touch her? And I asked where she was."

"In her tent, I think. I kept my promise of not telling anyone who she was and not delegating your assignment to any one else; a whole Captain Ezekias Lincoln degraded to a watch dog," the person sighed, as if trying to evoke sympathy from Ethan.

"I don’t care about that. Just make sure no one, and I mean no one, knows you’re watching her. Did she eat?" 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

"I’m not sure of that, but I could check if she bathed. Want me to go check for that?"

Frustrated, Ethan hung up on the call. He would deal with this idiot later, he vowed inwardly, even though it was not going to be easy as the idiot was also a Mega family member.

"Ruth," he called out, knowing she would be lounging somewhere around his office with Enoch and he wasn’t wrong, for she replied immediately.

"Sir," She appeared at the door, a professional smile on her face which Ethan didn’t need at his moment.

"Call Shikera, and ask how she is and what she’s doing right now...Just make a video call and screen record it," he ordered, watching as Ruthlyn’s eyes strayed to his phone which was lying on the table.

"Is your phone’s battery drained, Sir? Do you need me to help with charging it?"

"I would ask if I needed your help. Just call Shikera and do as I said!"

He ignored her after that, going back to the contract he was reading.

"Hello?" Shikera picked her phone without bothering to check the person calling. A smile broke out on her face when she heard the voice on the other end.

"Hey Ruth," she repeated her greeting which was returned immediately.

"..."

"Yh...we arrived like thirty minutes ago and I already settled down. Did you call for that?"

"..."

"A video call? Sure, I don’t mind," Shikera agreed to Ruthlyn’s request as she removed the phone from her ears to accept the video call switch.

The call lasted for about five minutes, with Shikera basically answering Ruthlyn’s questions of how she was feeling and if she was uncomfortable. For a moment, she almost thought Ethan was the one who asked Ruthlyn to call her but when the latter informed her that he had been swamped with work, she stopped hoping. It wasn’t like she had high hopes before, and even the little hope she had was because of the novels and dramas she had watched.

Wiping her face dry of the water which she had used in washing it earlier, Shikera laid down on her cot, a camping kind of bed which was soft but still uncomfortable. She wanted to get enough sleep since her brother said the first footage would be that night.

When Shikera opened her eyes next after what she thought was a few seconds, she jolted at the unfamiliar place she found herself. Suddenly and without reason, her heart started beating fast and faster that she felt it would burst until her eyes cleared and she took in the place she was.

It was still the tent she had slept in earlier, but also very different. There was only a lamp hanging on the roof of the tent while everywhere else was dark, and outside too...was super noisy. Jolting up, her eyes widened as the thought occured to her that they had been invaded. After all, this was still a military training ground.

Wearing her boots, she rushed outside the tent and...indeed they had been invaded.
