Chapter 103: Noah Anderson.

The innocent and pleading expression Shikera was wearing, decapitated the sergeant, making him unable to refuse her.

"Miss, you should let me carry it then while you assist the rest."

He picked the luggage up just like Ethan had did that morning, and continued on his way. Behind him, Vicky whispered to Shikera, "I think I found my man!"

"What man? Don’t forget I warned you," Shikera whispered back, glaring at her.

"You disobeyed your own instructions first so why can’t I?" Vicky taunted, sticking out her tongue.

Frowning, Shikera feigned annoyance as she raised her hand up at Vicky who dodged the attack. The group burst into laughter.

"We are here," Sergeant Neil’s firm voice alerted them, as they stopped dead in their tracks and stopped laughing.

Shikera walked to the front to stand beside Sergeant Neil, while looking around the cleared campground.

"This doesn’t look like a place used for military training," Josh voiced out his thoughts.

Shikera agreed with him, as apart from the numerous tents pitched around them to leave only a small space in the middle, there was nothing else in the area to show that the military were using the place.

Neil smiled at their observation before explaining to them, "What did you expect? We will be training the children of the elites so we can’t use any extreme measures. Let’s just say we are babysitting them in form of a school trip."

"Oh..." Shikera nodded.

"Where’s our tent then?"

"About that, you will be coming with me as the leader of your team, to meet our supervisor here," Neil informed her, before turning to the rest of the group.

"We assign a tent to two people, so I think you two should take one," he pointed to Vicky and Maya, then at Josh and Henry, "And you too should take one too. Miss Anderson will be sorted when she comes back."

"Our own tents, where are they?" Vicky asked.

"At the end of the line."

The group separated into two with Shikera and Neil heading to the right while the rest headed in the opposite side, pulling Shikera’s luggage with theirs.

Shikera and Neil arrived at the front of the largest tent in the cleared area, and the latter stepped forward.

"Captain Anderson, I brought her here."

Shikera brows raised in confusion as she felt that the name Neil just called, was absurdly familiar. But then, the person wasn’t supposed to be here right?

Neil stepped inside and Shikera followed, blinking her eyes to adjust them to the dim light in the tent. As soon as her eyes accustomed to the light, her jaw fell in surprise.

"Noah!" She exclaimed.

"Kera!" A man in military uniform approached her, a wide smile on his face.

Shikera stood there, rooted to a spot as she wondered what her brother was doing here. Yes, she knew he was a soldier but she also knew he wasn’t ordinary as he was part of the Special Military Forces team captains of their country.

"What are you doing here?"

Noah gave Neil a nod, and the sergeant walked out of the tent, leaving them alone.

"I see my sister has grown up. Finally, Kera, how does it feel to be on a two weeks trip by yourself?" he gushed in excitement, ignoring Shikera’s earlier question.

"I said what are you doing here? Wait...did you get hurt? Or did you do something wrong?"

Noah sighed, "I didn’t, and I wasn’t demoted. I am here on a mission too and don’t worry, it’s not dangerous in any way. It’s just a trivial mission which is meant as a punishment."

Finally, Shikera heaved a sigh of relief. She knew her brother would not tell her what the mission was about even if she asked, so she didn’t bother herself.

"A moment, how did you know I was coming here?"

"I was the one who recommended your team so it’s inevitable that I do know—"

"And why did you recommend my team? Do you know how much trouble you put us through?" Shikera fired on, wanting her brother to spill out his purpose for recommending their station. Though she hadn’t seen him for half a year and she missed him, she was confused as to why he wanted her to be with him.

"I recommended your team cause I thought it’s the best, except you’re debating that though. But for the real reason, I wanted to ask you something," Noah explained to her, suddenly adorning a serious expression.

"What’s that?"

Noah held her hand and giving her a brief hug, he lead her to sit on a camp chair which was placed in one corner of the tent.

"Anderson Corporation was kind of quiet these past few days so I tried checking if something was wrong, and found out there’s news of father leaving the country. Seeing as you were allowed to come here too, I think it’s true. Tell me everything that happened," he demanded.

Shikera knew her brother was fast in getting information, so she wasn’t even surprised.

"Father was sick so he travelled out of the country to get treatment," She answered simply.

As if she just remembered, she added, "You can’t tell him I told you he’s sick though. He lied to me telling me he’s going on a vacation or business trip...but I learnt of the truth later. That’s all,"

"What do you mean that’s all? I know father would never leave you alone in the country, and the Corporation too. When did he leave?"

"Four months ago. He asked me to inform you whenever you came home."

"Back to my question, how did he settle the Corporation and you before leaving?"

"I got married, and my husband is also the one who’s presiding over Anderson Corporation in father’s stead," Shikera deadpanned, completely expressionless.

Noah laughed out loud, his voice filling the tent.

"You do know that you love joking, right? I came home like six months ago and you didn’t even have a boyfriend then and now, you are telling me you got married before father travelled. Four months ago?! Wait, you got married to Leonard?!"

"No, but Leonard and Krystal do know my husband. It was a contract marriage and Dad chose my husband by himself."

"What the fuck are you saying? Dad made you marry someone you did not love?! Who the hell is he?" Noah paced the room, his expression showing how angry he was. He couldn’t imagine his sister being with someone who didn’t deserve her, someone who couldn’t shower excessive love on her.

"Ethan DeLoach."
