The Faceless Billionaire Celebrity Wife-Chapter 101: Ray Of Hope.
Enoch, Raymond, Esther, and even Hazel, with the exception of Ruthlyn, watched as Ethan pulled Shikera’s luggage after her, as if it was the most natural thing to do. His facemask was already fastened across his face, since he was the one who gave Hazel the permission to come and get Esther prepared for school that morning.
Shikera, oblivious to the strange stares she was getting from the people downstairs, said to Ethan, "Woah! You’re lifting that with just one hand? One would think it’s completely weightless!"
Before Ethan could answer her, a small childish voice chipped in,"Daddy, is Miss Anderson going somewhere?"
"She is," Ethan gave a short answer. Presently, they were at the foot of the stairs and we’re now walking towards the others."Why do you ask?"
"Nothing, I thought I could play with her but I guess I will have to play with Miss Hazel," Esther replied. Unknown to her, she had caused a ray of hope in someone’s heart and dulled the light in another’s.
Hazel, who was standing beside Esther, bent slightly and in the most sweetest of voices, said, "Of course, Esther. It’s a pity that you don’t have other children to play with but don’t worry, it’s just a matter of years. Also, I can play with you just until then."
No amount of words could express the joy in Hazel’s heart at this moment. Throughout the previous day, she had been stuck in the villa at the back as Ethan didn’t call for her. The only time she dared to come out was late at night when she caught a glimpse of him, with his nosemask on, and his wife getting into the car. She had stayed up waiting for them but at the end, they didn’t come back until she fell asleep and that had dampened her mood up till this morning.
’If Young Master Ethan and his wife has such a good relationship, will there be any chance for me?’ she had been wondering since but now, Esther had just shown her that she still had hope.
First of all, Esther still addressed Shikera as Miss Anderson which meant that the relationship between them was still strained. Secondly, Ethan didn’t bother to correct Esther and that could only mean that whatever relationship was between him and his wife, he didn’t intend for it to exist for long.
On the other hand, Shikera frowned as she sensed a hidden tone of voice in Hazel’s words. As a reporter, one specialized in entertainment at that, she could filter gossip out from the most normal of conversations. And with this skill, she could tell that Hazel’s words had a hidden meaning.
Walking towards Esther, she patted the little girl on her head and assured her, "I’m sorry, Esther but I have no choice..."
"You do have a choice," Ethan chimed in, the expression on his face hidden behind the mask.
Shikera ignored him and continued, "I really have no choice cause I’m not my own boss but trust me, I’m sure I’ll have a day off when I come back and then we can go have fun."
"I don’t trust you, but I will wait," Esther nod her head. Turning to her father, she bade him goodbye and walked towards Enoch, the one tasked with taking her to and fro of school.
"Let’s go," she slipped her hand into his and pulled him outside.
Watching them go, Shikera turned to greet Raymond and Ruthlyn when she noticed the packed backpack beside the former.
"What? You’re going somewhere, Ray?" She asked, hoping against hope that Ethan had not arranged for Raymond to follow her. The way he had quickly approved of her going on the trip was still suspicious to her, and she was still wondering why so she was praying that it wasn’t because he had planned for her not to go alone.
"He is. He has to represent me in a meeting outside the country and will be back in a week," Ethan was the one who replied her.
As they were done exchanging pleasantries, they walked outside the house after Shikera had picked up her car key.
She would be driving together with Ruthlyn and when she alighted, Ruthlyn would drive the car back.
Outside, after she was sure Hazel had gone far enough, Shikera walked towards Ethan and leaned in to give him a hug. Tiptoeing, she whispered into his ears,"Bye...husband. I clearly remember advising you to go to the bar to let off steam but if you take a woman along, then be ready to deal with the consequences."
Out of the surprise her sudden hug caused, Ethan was barely able to process her words until she was in the car and with Ruthlyn beside her.
Smiling, he watched as the car pulled away from the driveway before turning to Raymond.
"Ray, we have a lot to do. I already broke the main clause of the contract," he announced.

Few hours later, Shikera was sitting in the back seat of the big bus which the company provided for them. As they were only five in number, apart from the driver and his assistant, the bus was spacious enough for them.
Presently, Shikera was on a video call with Cyprian who was not in a good condition like Shikera was.
"Can you imagine, Kera? We have to share this first class cabin with the president, his secretaries, ministers and some other reporters from their country. This place is so fucking cramped!"
Shikera giggled, teasing her friend with a I told you so look.
"And what do you want me to do, Rian? I didn’t choose for you baby girl. You wanted the one week trip, didn’t you?"
"And you too,Kera? Everyone here is teasing me and you too! Anyways, forget about that, how will you go about your feeding? You definitely know that you can’t eat just anything, right?"
"Of course," Shikera replied, "I’ll make sure I find a way around it. Even if I eat only snacks, I’ll make sure they are healthy"
Cyprian face contorted into a frown at what her friend said,"Wait a minute, Kera. You didn’t tell your husband about this, right? Did you lie to him?"
"I did," Shikera answered her without wasting time. "You don’t expect me to bother him with what I’ll eat when he doesn’t want me to go in the first place so I lied to him that it’s not my first time going on a trip like this and that I’ve made provisions for myself."
"What are you saying, Kera? You know you will be..."
"Reporter Leigh, your attention is being requested by one of the president’s secretaries."
"... Excuse me, Kera. I’ll call you back when I’m done cause it seems like it has reached the ears of the president that I have been uncomfortable."
"Bye," Shikera said enthusiastically. She was not ready to answer a series of questions from Cyprian anyway.
Meanwhile, in the plane, Cyprian found her way through the chattering passengers as she followed the person who came to call her.
"Have an idea why he’s calling me?" She asked the person.
"No, but I think I heard him saying his fiancee was among the reporters cramped in there."
