The Ex-Wife's Revenge: Rise of the Real Heiress.-Chapter 204: Light up everything
"Who am I talking to?" Andrew immediately asked, and the lady fell silent for a second.
"Who do you think?" She asked after some time.
Andrew paused.
"Stop talking in circles and get to the point," Andrew’s expression darkened.
He didn’t hear anything for some time and pulled the phone up to his face.
The call was indeed going. Then why was she not saying anything?
He was about to speak when the woman on the other end chuckled softly.
"You are such a chicken. I just asked you whether you knew Elara. Of course, I read your file and know everything. Wait for my call," The woman on the other end said before the call ended.
Andrew looked at the number, a heavy feeling in his heart.
It was already hard to keep Elara out of his thoughts and things, and people around him weren’t helping either.
On the other hand, Elara, who had been sitting behind the laptop, looked at Daniel, who looked back at her with raised brows.
"Don’t you want to ask what this was all about?" Elara asked.
Daniel smirked as he removed the apron from around his waist and put it aside.
"I don’t need to ask you anything. As long as you are having fun and not getting hurt, that’s all that matters," He commented, and Elara furrowed her brows.
"Hey! Not fair. Aren’t you a tiny mint curious about what’s going on?" She asked as she walked behind him, following him to the kitchen, where he was cooking lasagna and noodles for her.
Daniel’s lips twitched at her childish behaviour, and he cleared his throat before shaking his head.
When Elara stopped speaking, he turned around only to see her sulking in the corner with a cute pout, and the man couldn’t help but chuckle before he walked to her and kissed her temple. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
"I want you to surprise me with the results when Andrew is destroyed to the core. But if you want to tell me the process, I am all ears," Daniel said.
Elara looked at the man. Just from this sentence alone, it was clear that he probably knew what she was doing, and why not? The man led the underworld on his pinky finger like it was nothing.
She suddenly felt a bit childish for acting like that and couldn’t help but hide her face in his chest.
"Mmm. I’ll show you the good results," she whispered, and the man nodded.
"That’s like my girl," he said before he started placing the plates on the dining table for their midnight snack that Elara was craving.
Daniel left shortly after eating with her when he received a call from Alen. Though Elara wanted to ask if everything was all right since he had left in a rush, she wanted to respect his work boundaries, too.
Once the man left, Elara immediately called Justin to proceed with the work she had told him about.
She wanted it done before her marriage. It was a wedding gift she wanted to give herself, a rebellion against the Lloyds who treated her so badly.
Honestly, she had thought about leaving things be. And she would be a hypocrite if she said she didn’t battle internally about whether to let things go or take her revenge, because for a few days she had been distracted from her goal, or maybe because she got too busy.
However, how could she really let it go so easily? She lost her baby because of what they did. There was no way she should be forgiving them.
And with that thought in mind, she decided to spice things up a bit in Andrew’s life.
The man has no idea what’s going to hit him, or how harsh it will be.
She was ready to see him on the road, begging for mercy, rubbing his nose on the ground, just like she was ready to do for his love.
Elara took a deep breath before she walked to her bedroom and turned the lights off after lying on the mattress.
She was about to close her eyes when she remembered something.
At the same time, Beatrice entered her uncle’s house, who looked visibly distressed and angry about something.
"You called me, uncle?" Beatrice asked.
The man, who was sitting in his boss’s chair in his office, turned around, a cigar in his hands.
"Do you want me to ban you from seeing your mother?" The man asked, his sudden threat confusing Beatrice.
Her heart skipped a beat. She met her mother after so long, and though her mother didn’t recognise her as her daughter, she had been abandoned at the orphanage, seeing her was still the relief she didn’t know she had been looking for.
"Why? Did I do something wrong? Is there something you wanted a bit differently? Please give me a reason before making any grave decision. Please, you can’t do this to me," Beatrice said pleadingly.
Thames looked up, his eyes dropped, and he was dark.
"You don’t know what you did wrong? How is it possible that the Matthews are working with the Lloyds again if you ensured the collaboration would be cancelled?" Thames asked.
Beatrice raised her brows.
"They are?" She asked, utterly surprised.
"So this is how we are doing this. We are going to pretend we didn’t know anything," Thames said.
Beatrice shook her head and immediately fell on her knees.
"Believe me, uncle. I really didn’t know anything. I had no idea something like this was happening. The collaboration was cancelled, I swear," Beatrice said.
A nerve in Thames’ forehead twitched at her words.
"Do you think I am a fool? Now that you are married to Andrew, the man you loved so dearly and have met your mother, you think you can stop working for me, no?" Thames asked before he stood from his seat.
Beatrice opened her mouth to deny his words, but before she could utter a word, the man backhanded her so hard that she fell to the side, the corner of her lips splitting, making her taste her own blood.
She looked to the side in shock before shaking her head.
"Believe me, uncle. I had no idea about it. I’ll look into it and get it cancelled. Please don’t ban me from seeing my mother," Beatrice pleaded.
Thames scoffed and was about to tell her to get lost so he could think what to do next when his phone rang.
He walked to the table and grabbed the mobile phone, all the while glaring at Beatrice, before picking up the call when he noticed it was from his assistant.
"Yes?" He asked.
"Sir, there’s a problem. Our factory caught fire," the man said, and Thames’ pupils dilated.
"What the fuck are you talking about?" The man roared, and Beatrice looked up, confused.
Did something happen?
At the same time, Elara, watching the factory light up on her laptop via the video Xylon had shared with her, smiled and relaxed.
Now she could sleep in peace while the world of her tormentors was chaotic.
This was just the beginning of their downfall.
