The Ex-Wife's Revenge: Rise of the Real Heiress.-Chapter 199: He is back
"Have you forgotten about me already, princess?"
Elara stopped in her tracks when she saw the message from the same number that she had saved as Daniel’s second number.
"Is everything alright?" One of the crew members asked when they saw the smile on her face falter.
"Yeah, everything’s good. Please carry on," Elara excused herself from the crew since her current scene was completed already.
She walked out of the shooting area, unsure what to reply to this man, whoever he was.
She had deliberately not blocked this number because she wanted to know who had been messaging her with such affection and emotions, much like Daniel does. And most importantly, because this man was probably the reason behind the death of Sean’s father.
"Who are you?" Elara typed the message and hit the send button.
"Ouch!" Another message came with a hurt emoticon.
Elara narrowed her brows and was about to type when another message popped up.
"You hurt my feelings with your negligence and ignorance. Have you already forgotten me?" The person asked.
Elara took a deep breath before nodding to herself.
"I am serious. I mistook you for someone else. Tell me who you are," Elara hit the send button again.
"Well, this just hurt my pride. I did so much for you, even going so far as to killin’gg and this is what I get in return? Are you sure you want to play with that kind of fire, princess?" The next message came.
Elara read the message over and over, as if it would change the meaning of the words, but it didn’t.
She understood the threat in the man’s words and immediately took a screenshot before sending it to both Daniel and Justin.
She sent it to Justin to look into it further and see if he could trace the person this time, and to Daniel, because she trusted he would protect her if anything happened.
"If you won’t tell me who you are, then I’ll block you," Elara bit the send button before closing her eyes.
Maybe this wasn’t a good step. She didn’t even know who the psycho behind the messenger was.
"Can you really?" The other person asked, and Elara’s fingers tightened around the handset.
"Are—" she started to type a message when she felt a hot breath on her neck, and the hair on her back stood in surprise.
Elara froze in her place. For a person who was always aware of her surroundings and had taken combat training, not being able to feel a person sneaking behind her only meant that the person behind her was someone who was well-versed in those techniques, too.
She took a deep, shaky breath to calm herself.
"Are you not going to turn?" The man’s deep, dominant voice caught Elara off guard because it felt so familiar.
Arnold? The name echoed in Elara’s head like a cursed alarm, and her fingers turned cold in fear.
Rather than turning and facing the man, Elara dashed forward, but she could only move a single step when the man held her hand.
Elara froze.
"Running from me already?" She heard him speak, and her hand shifted to her waist, where she kept her dagger.
However, since she was still in the costume, she realised she wasn’t carrying her dagger, and her heartbeats picked up even more.
The man turned her forcefully, and Elara looked at the masked man with wide eyes, the same mask that had haunted her on that island when she was kidnapped.
Her body started shaking.
"How beautiful you have become," the man extended his hand to touch her cheeks, but she snapped his hand away before she jerked her hand free and turned to run.
As soon as she did that, she saw three men appearing before her, blocking her way.
"You can’t run," Arnold said from behind her.
The man stepped forward to grab her hand when she bent and kicked the first person who came to her, jumping on the second one to push him back before she kicked the third one.
She knew that if Arnold decided he wanted to take her, he would have come with quite a few people, and thus showing her combat and wasting her energy on fighting was a bad choice.
She needed to run as fast as she could. And that was exactly what she did.
She ran towards the alley as fast as she could, knowing it would lead to a martial arts studio, and the people there would be more helpful than the ones at the set.
The masked man remained in his place, watching his prey run like a deer running from a tiger, and couldn’t help but chuckle darkly.
It looked like his prey had gotten a little stronger this time, but nothing he couldn’t handle. Not after he mourned for her like the lover he was. After all, she belonged to him.
He thought she died, and nothing could help him overcome the trauma and pain. Now that he knew she was alive and breathing well, there was no way he was going to let her go.
Elara kept running without looking back and bumped into someone, making her stumble backwards because of the force.
She was about to fall when someone held her han,d and she looked up with wide, scared eyes.
However, as soon as she saw who it was, a whimper left her mouth, and she hugged him tightly, tears brimming in her eyes.
"Hey, what happened?" Daniel could immediately sense her unease and wrapped his hands around her, turning them so he could protect her from everyone’s gaze if anyone decided to enter the alley.
"He was here. He..." Elara choked on her fear and pressed herself more into Daniel’s chest.
Daniel didn’t ask much and kept caressing her back until she called down.
Once she calmed down, he took her to the nearby cafe, and they sat in the last seat.
"Now will you tell me what exactly happened?" Daniel asked, placing his hand over her to let her know he was there for her and she didn’t need to worry about anything.
Elara took a deep breath before drinking the cold water from the table.
"He was here. The man who kidnapped me around four years ago was the reason I had thought of committing suicide. One of the reasons why I agreed to marry Andrew and orchestrated the drama of my death was because I wanted him to leave my parents alone," Elara covered her face with her hands.
Daniel paused.
He didn’t speak, letting her collect her composure, knowing she needed to do it on her own.
He messaged Alen to ask whether the man he had suspected had landed in their country, then turned to Elara.
"No one is going to take you anywhere this time, Elara. You can trust me on that," Daniel said, kissing her knuckles, and Elara shook her head.
"You don’t know, Dan. He...he is not as simple as he looks. He is a monster, someone who doesn’t fear death. I don’t want him to make my parents’ lives hell again. And you? This time, I have you too. He will try to ruin us to get to me. He is a psycho," Elara said, her fingers still trembling.
Daniel turned her chair so she could face him before he clasped her hands between his.
"Here, look at me, baby. No one is going to take you away. He might be a monster,r but I am a demon for anyone who wants to harm my love. I’ll hunt him down before he can take you away," Daniel said. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Seeing the genuineness and seriousness in his eyes, Elara nodded her head, placing her head on his chest, letting his heartbeat relax her.
At the same time, in the life city hospital, the nurse rushed out of Heather’s room, and Andrew, who had gone to bring some food for his mother, immediately looked around in panic.
"What’s happening? Did something happen?" Andrew asked everyone, but no one answered.
He rushed to his father, almost dropping the food in the process when he saw his mother practically plastered on the door, trying to peep inside the room to see what was going on.
"Mom, what’s going on?" He asked his mother.
"I don’t know. They said he regained consciousness, and as soon as I stepped outside the door, I saw everyone rushing. I don’t know what’s going on," Sophia said.
The doctor finally walked out and looked at Andrew.
"Mr. Lloyd, your father’s condition is not looking good. He has regained some consciousness and intends to talk to you. It’s something urgent, he says. Please don’t add any stress to him. We are preparing for the operation," The doctor said and walked away.
Andrew nodded at the doctor before he walked inside after wearing the visitor’s coat and a hair cap.
"Dad, why are you stressing about it? Please get better first," Andrew looked at his father, who breathed heavily through the mask, shaking his head slowly.
"It’s... important. D-don’t marry her. She...sister," Heather said before he lost his consciousness, and Andrew sat there, unsure about what to think of it.
