The Editor Is An Extra-Chapter 122: Tournament 3
As Dion and Fabian stood some meters away from each other, instructor Lee declared the start of the match with high fervor.
"Begin!"
However, something unexpected happened. "I forfeit!"
"..." Silenced reigned supreme because of the two words that left Dion’s mouth.
Damon facepalmed, while Dion himself was grinning sheepishly. Fabian on the other hand, was expressionless, while instructor Lee had a comical expression frozen on his face.
"Ahem! Let’s move on to the next match then." he coughed, as he waved both of them away. The matches continued like those before, until everyone out of the 64 qualified student had lasted a match. Anastasia was also part, but just like Dion, her opponent instantly surrendered.
After the last match of the round of sixty four, The instructor increased his volume. "This brings us to the end of the round of sixty four everyone. We’ll take an hour’s break, before moving on to the round of thirty two. Stay tuned, I assure you, it would be much much interesting than the last round." He announced with a wide grin, before he disappeared.
The moment he did, the other instructors also disappeared from their spot, all at the same time. Most students also stood and left the stadium, leaving through the portal behind the stands. Meanwhile, Damon was stuck listening to Dion’s brag about him having bag a girl due to the unbelievable fact that he had forfeited. "I mean can you believe it, I didn’t know girls dig cowards. Not that I’m a coward, but you know what I mean." Dion whispered to Damon.
"Wow, I get it."Damon replied flatly. But in reality, he wasn’t listening to a word that came out of Dion’s mouth. Instead, his neck was bent upwards, his gaze locked onto the frames with the images of the students above, or rather the fixtures.
Since the fixtures first appeared, following the tree, Damon had already determined who and who he was going to be fighting, and to his bad luck, Alistair would not be part. The golden boy would be clashing with Anastasia first, and Damon wasn’t too keen on the belief that Alistair would win. Too bad, because Damon would have liked to bloody that perfect face of his.
On Damon’s path on the tree though, he fought Delilah in the round of sixty four, he would fight some extra in the round of thirty two, fight Levi Stormbreaker in the round of sixteen, then that little piece of shit, Calum Forge in the quarter finals, finally fight Rose in the semi finals, and last but not least, Anastasia in the finals, if he did manage to defeat Rose that was.
But he was more than confident in defeating her. On the other hand, if even Alistair managed to defeat Anastasia, it would still be a win for Damon, that way he’d get to beat the hell of of him, in front of the golden boy’s white haired bitch.
----------------
While Damon was salivating on how glorious his win would be, beneath the stadium, in one of the corridors, a meeting was taking place.
A tall jet black haired young man starkly against the white background, his striking grey reflecting the florescent light. Opposite him stood a shorter girl with strikingly similar features, but somewhat different at the same time.
"What do you want?" Rose asked coldly. Emmett didn’t reply, instead he leaned forward , smiling sinisterly. "Nothing much dear sister, I just noticed you’d be against our dear brother in the semi finals."
"What about it?" You should know I’m not a fan of beating around the bush." Rose said flatly. She always hated it when Emmett beat around the bush or talked in circles.
"Like I said." Emmett smiled. "It’s nothing much, It just seems like our dear brother is forgetting his place. You just have to beat him up like you’ve always done, teach him his place once more."
Rose stood in silence for a while before furrowing her brows. "I don’t need you to tell me what to do." She said sharply. "Oh, do pardon me if it looks like I’m telling you what to do. It was simply a suggestion on my part, you can take it or leave it."
"Then why did you talk as if I plan on losing to him on purpose?" Rose asked once more.
"Your words, not mine." Emmett smiled victoriously. "So, you did plan on losing after all, dear Rose." He raised a hand to her cheek.
Rose frowned, hitting his hand away. "It’s none of your business."
"Well that confirms it. But I implore you not to do that, lest it becomes known to father and mother."
"And who’s going to tell them about it? Certainly it isn’t you, is it, Emmett?" Rose’s eyes narrowed.
"You misunderstand dear sister, I have far more better things to do than to tattle." Emmett smiled, before turning away. "I’ll see you after the tournament is over, sister, hope you don’t disappoint me too much." he said, before seemingly disappearing into thin air, leaving Rose all by herself.
After he was gone, Rose frowned. What gave Emmet the impression that she was going to let Damon win? Rose didn’t have any thoughts related to that by a far cry. If anything, she was going to win to show him that she was still his better.
Emmett’s words however might have had another meaning. What was his real goal? Was he trying to spur her to not even think about trying to let Damon win, or was it that he wanted her to try to annoy him by doing the exact opposite, and letting Damon win?
Either way, it didn’t matter what Emmett said, or what he was trying to stir her into doing. She had already made her mind after all.
-----------------
"Welcome back everyone, from our short break." Instructor Lee took to announcing once again. "And welcome to the round of thirty two. In the last round, thirty two students had been eliminated, leaving only thirty two left. In this round sixteen students would be eliminated."
It had been an hour since the break was given, and everyone spent their break doing what they liked. But Damon for the most part, spent the time listening to Dion’s tall tales, even as they walked around back in the dome. While he would say it wasn’t exactly boring, the term he would use, was distracting.
Something Damon noticed however, was how Rose stole subtle looks at him when she thought he wasn’t watching. ’Is there something on my face?" he thought. ’Or is it just because I’m so captivating?’ he joked. ’Nah, she looks just like I do, or is it I who looks just like she does, considering she was born first?’ Damon got lost.
’Wait, or is it because I stole her eggs?’ He thought. But that didn’t quite make any sense. She could be looking at him since the tournament started, but she wasn’t, not until after the break was over. Which meant something must have happened during that time frame.
And Damon was made sure of it when he felt another gaze at him. This time directly from the third years seating area. Turning to look in that direction he caught sight of Emmett who was looking right at him, and unlike rose, he wasn’t even trying to hide the fact that he was, and even smiled when they locked eyes, before gesturing to Rose.
Rose too, soon turned, having sensed two pairs of eyes boring holes into her skull. But when she turned and saw the culprits, she only glared at both, before turning away. Damon also did the same and ignored Emmett.
"For our first match we have...." The instructor proceeded to call the names of the students Damon had termed as extra’s. The next few fight were extremely long and boring, not until Damon was finally called.
The moment their fight began, Damon’s eyes widened in disbelief. "Wait.... don’t tell me that’s the only thing you can do." he asked. His opponent was a boy who could make his fingernails longer. But that was the only thing, he couldn’t make them sharper, nor harder. Not only that, the boy had no combat techniques at all. His only mode of fighting was to use his fists and nails, which also hurt when they broke.
"Sigh." Damon sighed, before blurring behind the unsuspecting kid and knocking him out with a precise chop to the neck.
"Damon Darkfell advances to the round of sixteen!" the Instructor’s clownish cheer reverberated through the entire stadium. "Next match, Anastasia Necron Vs Lucas Bada."
A dark skinned young man leapt from his seat at the stands, and descended towards the middle of the field with great speed. But the surprising thing was that, when he landed, the ground didn’t vibrate, nor show the slightest bit of cracks even though he was particularly buff. Instead, the earth around when he landed squirmed and absorbed the force.
Anastasia landed there soon after, but under her feet, the earth shattered and cratered. For the fun of it, without giving them a moment to get ready, the instructor announced the start of the match.
"Begin!"
The moment the words left his mouth, spikes made out of earth jutted out the ground and pierced through Anastasia, but she soon faded away, revealing it was only an afterimage.
She seemingly appeared before the buff guy, as if she had teleported. She wined her arm back, curled her palm into a fist, before launching a devastating punch to his chest, launching his body through the air.
He didn’t stop until he hit the wall. However just when everyone thought he was out, the earth making up the wall crawled into the hole he made, before a hulking figure jumped out. It was the same buff guy, but now encased in a strong earth armor.
"Come!" he roared.
