The Disdained Luna Who Rose Alone-Chapter 65 The Evidence
Evelyn’s POV
I looked at Calvin coldly. "I’ll show you proof later, but do you know what she’s done?"
"Evelyn, you shouldn’t have poisoned her before we knew the truth. It could kill her," Calvin said seriously.
I laughed. "You might be patient, but I’m not."
Clara hid behind Calvin like a scared rabbit. When our eyes met, she gave me a smug smile. But when Calvin looked at her, she turned into a crying, helpless thing, biting her lip.
"Calvin, I swear I did nothing wrong," she cried sweetly. "I haven’t left the house for days. Ask the housekeeper. I’ve been in my room getting better."
She touched her face where the glass had cut her. Her act made me angry.
"I take care of Rowan and Rhys like they’re my own. How could I hurt them?" Her eyes got red as she looked at me. "Evelyn, I know you hate me, but you can’t lie about me and poison me!"
She looked up at Calvin’s face, acting weak. "Calvin, the poison makes my heart hurt so much."
I could tell she had practiced this act many times. Most men would fall for her helpless beauty act, but Calvin stayed cold to her. He just called the pack doctor.
When Dr. Chandler finished checking Clara, he found nothing wrong. Clara protested right away.
"My heart feels like it’s burning! How can you say I’m fine? You must be wrong!"
Dr. Chandler wasn’t just any doctor. His students worked in top hospitals across the country. He was respected everywhere. He only stayed as pack doctor because of an old debt to the Bloodbane Pack.
"Miss Whitmore, you’re free to get another opinion," he said, looking upset. No one had ever questioned his skills like this.
"Dr. Chandler, I didn’t mean..." Clara tried to take it back.
The doctor’s face lit up when he saw me. What he said next shocked everyone.
"Professor! You’re back in Ravenshade!"
Everyone looked surprised. Only one person could make Dr. Chandler show such respect.
"You have the wrong person. I’m not your professor," I said coolly.
Years ago, when I was sick at the Bloodbane Pack house, Dr. Chandler often checked on me. I gave him special medicine to study. That medicine won him many awards.
Since then, he always called me Professor instead of Luna Evelyn. I tried to stop him, but he wouldn’t.
I could feel Clara’s jealousy. Why did I have these skills? Why did people respect me when she only got what I left behind?
"Calvin, my heart hurts so much. It must be Evelyn’s poison working," she cried.
Her pale face was real, and so was the poison. But Dr. Chandler’s normal tests couldn’t find it.
When he heard I gave her the poison, Dr. Chandler’s eyes lit up. He looked at Clara like she was suddenly interesting.
He turned to Calvin seriously. "Mr. Wolfe, I should take Miss Whitmore to the hospital for more tests. If she’s poisoned, I’ll find a way to help her."
Really, he just wanted to study what I’d made. With the poison in her blood, he could test it.
Dr. Chandler didn’t look at Clara like a patient. He looked at her like a scientist seeing something new to study.
Clara looked nervous under his stare. She tried to grab Calvin’s arm, but he walked past her to face me.
"What proof were you talking about?" he asked, his scent close to me.
Calvin’s POV
I moved toward Evelyn, wanting to see her reaction. My wolf, Cyra, was restless, urging me closer. She backed away until she hit the wall. Now she could only look up at me with those defiant eyes I’d remembered for years.
She pulled out her phone and played a recording.
"Get someone reliable to take the Wolfe boys. Make Calvin think Evelyn did it."
"Don’t worry, he trusts me completely. Just use people who can keep quiet."
"Tell her to get rid of Evelyn’s daughter. Send her somewhere Evelyn won’t find her!"
"Keep the children hidden. The Bloodbane Pack can’t find them!"
Clara went pale. It was clearly her voice, and the words were damning. But she had to try.
"Calvin, this isn’t real," she begged. "Anyone can fake voices now. You know me, I wouldn’t do this."
I watched her silently, letting Cyra sense her lies. My wolf growled at her deception.
"Clara, you think everything’s fake except you?" Evelyn’s voice was cold with anger. "This poison is called Nightshade Extract." 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
The name said enough. The poison would work for three days. Each day would bring worse pain than the last, until the final day.
"Listen carefully," Evelyn continued, her eyes flashing dangerously."If Rowan or Rhys lose even a single hair on their heads, I will take your life as payment!"
Clara grabbed at this chance. "Calvin, you heard her! She admitted poisoning me! Even the name sounds deadly!"
Evelyn didn’t seem worried that I knew about the poison. This was about our sons. She looked at our daughter sleeping on Eryx’s shoulder and reached for her.
Eryx gently patted Alexis’s back. "She’s asleep. I’ll carry her," he said softly.
Despite looking tough, Eryx was gentle with Evelyn and Alexis. His voice always went soft for them.
Evelyn nodded.
Watching them, I felt something twist inside me. They looked like a family. The thought made my chest tight.
My eyes turned cold as I watched them. I looked Eryx over, my throat dry. Something cold spread through me.
Alexis mumbled in her sleep,"Daddy."
Eryx smiled and patted her back. "Shh, little one."
I watched, feeling bitter. Why couldn’t Alexis be my child? The thought wouldn’t leave me.
Evelyn watched Alexis, not seeing my face.
When Alexis was deep asleep, Evelyn left with Eryx. She walked past without looking at me. Her beautiful face showed only coldness.
At the door, our security teams faced each other. Her guards quickly surrounded her and Alexis.
After they left, I turned to Clara, my mind racing.
I wanted that child to be mine.I wanted us to be a family. Had I made a terrible mistake letting them go three years ago?
