The Devil's Betrothed-Chapter 780: The Lord Of The Darkness

At the mention of the Lord of Darkness, everyone turned silent and looked at the source of the voice—Drayce.

Arlan was surprised, as Drayce had always avoided talking about or looking into any information related to his biological father, but today, he finally asked about him. Though he showed that he hated Theron Ivanov, he would still rather consider him his father than his biological one.

Evanthe looked at Drayce as well. He had never asked her directly before—maybe he was considering her feelings.

The others sitting there—Draven, Oriana, and Morpheus—couldn’t wait to hear more.

Xyron looked at Drayce and said, "In the depths of the heaven realm, there’s said to be the four ancient beasts which are the pillars of the universe and protector of the heaven realm. The divine Dragon beast, divine Phoenix beast, divine Lion beast and divine Serpent with five heads.

"As I said before, the deity of Fire originated from the ashes of the Phoenix beast’s feather, the Lord of Darkness was said to be Originated from the fallen scale from the divine Dragon’s tale, the most powerful beast among the four ancient beasts. The massive scale was filled with the uncontrollable divine power of the Dragon beast which took a form another divine Dragon.

"That divine Dragon was later turned into the most powerful god in the Heaven realm, raised by the heavenly emperor himself. That Divine Dragon was supposed to be the next king of Heaven realm and said to rule all the three realms, but he had to sacrifice his powerful, perfectly acquired celestial body to absorb the absolute Darkness.

"That is how he became the Lord of Darkness. He was not born with Darkness, but the strongest divine power, capable enough to absorb the absolute darkness. He saved all the three realms from being swallowed by the absolute darkness from Hell, but had to leave everything behind he ever had and he was compelled to choose a life of seclusion.

"It wasn’t the only once when he saved these realms. When the deity of Fire sacrificed herself to the hellfire, the Lord of Darkness had also helped her. Only his power of absolute Darkness could control the hellfire from spreading further and made it easier for the Deity of Fire to absorb it.

"As everyone heard this in silence from Xyron, the Demon chuckled with mockery, "the more powerful you are, the more helpless one becomes in front of those deities and the rules of the heaven realm. Deity of Fire and the Lord of darkness were nothing but helpless, powerful beings."

"Was he not allowed to stay in heaven?" Drayce asked, somewhat feeling that his father was wronged.

"He was no longer a God the moment he became the Lord of Darkness. In the heaven realm, there is no place for darkness. "Or I should say they were just afraid of him being more powerful and needed a reason to isolate him so there won’t be anyone stronger that threatened the authority of the heaven realm," Xyron added. "They bound him with various oaths even before he absorbed that darkness, the oaths that he could not break."

"Wasn’t heavily Emperor the one to raise him? Did he not trust him?" Drayce asked.

"Heavenly Emperor was the one to make his take those oaths," Xyron replied. "It was to put other deities at ease, but then, I just find the heavily emperor selfish," Xyron looked at Evanthe, "I particularly don’t have any respect towards your father. He is said to be the most righteous person on the heaven realm, but I prefer to differ. The most unfair thing he did was to go into seclusion after that and isolated himself from heavenly matters. If he were still in the heaven realm, I believe he would have protected his daughter and others. Even Demon realm would not be this way. But he was selfish to give on the responsibilities."

"You can have any opinion of him as I don’t have ant memories of him," Evanthe dismissed. "All I care about Seren, Ember and my dear friend. I would bring them back even if the Emperor stands in my way."

"More I hear about this heaven realm, the more I find it pathetic," Morpheus, who was still angry at how his mate was taken away, said with a displeased tone. "How I can’t wait it to reduce to nothingness."

Oriana spoke, "If the Lord of Darkness was a deity and he was supposed to be the next king of Heaven realm, does that mean the Princess of Heaven realm, the deity of water, was supposed to marry him?"

Xyron nodded, "Both of them said to be in love as well."

Evanthe, who heard it, could not believe it. From all the things she got to know till now, she only thought she was in love with the Devil when she was a deity, but she had never expected this turn that He was a Deity to begin with.

No wonder when she met Him in the human realm as a witch, she felt odd familiarity and fell for him just at the first sight. Because she was always in love with him even after she had no memories, but the heart remembered. He still cared for her, maybe still loved her so much that he came to her rescue when she was in danger and even took care of her for days.

Evanthe felt her heart ache at the thought of what had happened, how exactly everything unfolded, and how it all ended this way.

Drayce, who was sitting next to her, could sense her emotions but remained silent, allowing her to process them. They all needed to know the truth.

"If he was a deity, he must have a name as well, instead of just ’Devil,’" Drayce said.

"Once he became the Lord of Darkness, he was addressed only as the Devil. His initial name isn’t to be spoken," Xyron replied, making it clear there would be no mention of his name. "All the tales of his glory as a god have been erased, and his identity remains only as the Lord of Darkness—the Devil."

Drayce gritted his teeth, frustrated that he couldn’t even know the name of his biological father.

"Drayvor. His name is Drayvor." A voice came through and everyone looked at her- Evanthe.
