The Devil CEO's Contract Wife-Chapter 280: A Vixen On My Side
ARES
"You haven’t gotten the chance for a comeback yet, and there’s someone called Vixen buzzing the underworld. It’s a hot topic," Nico said through the line.
Vixen. I have been hearing that name quite a lot. Even though I hadn’t quite made an appearance yet...
"What were you able to find about this... Vixen?"
"That’s the thing, boss. Nothing. No matter how much I dig. They are good at covering their tracks..."
My attention was drawn to the soft click of heels against the floor. Catherine came into view, and my breath was taken away.
She was wearing a floor-length evening gown in rich dark blue velvet. It hugged every curve, clinging deliciously to her body. The neckline had a decorated silver across the chest like branches of crystals, adding a sparkle.
As she posed with her hand on her waist, I caught the thigh-high slit in her dress.
"Some say it’s a man, while others say it’s a woman. They say all nonsense, really..." Nico’s voice vibrated from the speaker, reminding me I was still on call.
"I’ll call you back..." I cut him off before ending the call.
"Busy?" she asked softly, holding up a rhinestone garter. "I’m having a difficult time..."
I didn’t need to say a word; the look in my eyes was enough to get her moving. When she was within arm’s reach, I caught her waist and pinned her to my body.
"You look beautiful, baby."
She giggled. "Thank you, honey. Now, a little help?"
My eyes connected with the rhinestone. I took it and sat down on the sofa, and before I could make any attempts, she placed her heel right on my chest, smirking.
I yanked her leg, and she gasped, falling to my lap.
"We should skip tonight..." I said, clipping the garter, loving as it made her thigh glitter.
It was a good thing it wasn’t this visible when she walked.
"No, we can’t, remember...?" Catherine said, playing with my tie.
"I want to have you all to myself."
"I’m afraid you would have to share, just tonight. Besides, you should see Esme, she’s pretty in her gown, and she loves it."
"Are you sure?"
She instantly understood what I meant.
We were attending a kids’ charity event, and Esme was coming with us, her first appearance to the public. I was their biggest sponsor, and Catherine had convinced me that we should do it as a family.
Lately, rumors were getting nastier, and we were trying to avoid more of that, but I wanted to be sure that this was what she wanted.
"Yes, better we do it ourselves than someone else. Giving them the truth rather than rumors. I don’t want that to affect Esme. People will talk, but it only gets worse when they say the wrong things."
"I agree."
"Don’t tell me you already have your men at the event."
I rose, and she giggled because I carried her along with me, walking her to bed.
"Honey, we are gonna be late!"
"They can wait five minutes."
"Five?"
"Want it longer?" I asked, undoing my tie.
"Only if you won’t ruin my makeup."
"Can’t promise." I kissed her, doing exactly that.
Her lipstick was smudging all over my lips, but it only made the kiss hotter.
My hand brushed her thigh, and I froze when I touched her bare pussy.
"I was gonna wear one, I promise!"
"Liar."
Slap!
She gasped when I struck her pussy.
Slap!
She gripped my shoulders tightly, trying to squirm away, but I shoved a finger into her to keep her still.
"Keep moving, and I’ll make an hour."
"An hour?!"
"MOMMY!"
My actions ceased as Esme’s voice came through.
"I can’t find my shoes!"
"Seems like that’s not gonna happen, Mr. King."
Catherine pushed me off, eyeing my bulge, tightening against the fabric of my pants.
"Find another way to make that go away..." she giggled, tossing the covers over me.
When I pulled the blanket off, Catherine was already gone, and it was left for me to deal with my problem.
A subtle growl vibrated in my chest as I got off the bed, using the handkerchief to wipe my mouth. I pressed my phone to my ear after I dialed a number.
"Boss..." Nico answered.
"Are the arrangements for tonight done?"
"Yes. What about Vixen?"
"I’ll deal with that after... What about Reed? Is he still being monitored?"
It was all planned. I let Reed escape, counting on him to crawl back to Constance and give a statement enough for me to put her under.
"Yes... only until last week. He didn’t make contact with your grandmother as planned. There are rumors that he got on Vixen’s bad side or something like that."
This Vixen, again?
"Oh, one more thing. Vixen is claiming to be your secret associate. Everybody seems to believe it."
Not only did this Vixen mess with my plan, but they are claiming to be my associate?
I looked in the mirror, where I caught Catherine standing at the doorway, waiting.
It was time to handle things. I was planning on that opening Carlo mentioned, but everything was getting far too out of control.
"Memento mori..."
"Yes, boss," Nico replied, getting my message.
I ended the call.
"What’s the matter?" Catherine asked, sensing my shifted mood.
I shoved my phone in my suit pocket and faced her.
"Things are gonna get busy from here on out," I replied.
She came close to me, reaching to do my tie. Her fingers slipped beneath the knot, loosened it, and straightened out the fabric.
"Your private business?"
"Yes."
"Is everything alright?"
"I’ve been stalling..."
"Stalling?"
"I have been absent for the last few years... It’s causing a lot of unwanted things."
Catherine’s hands moved with precision, tightening the knot and adjusting it until it sat perfectly against my collar.
"You don’t have to worry about Esme and me, you know. We both know no matter what, you’re gonna come back home to us."
"I want more time."
"You have all the time in the world." She tugged gently against my tie, and it sat in place, her hand brushing down my suit, her diamond ring catching the light. "I’m not going anywhere."
I slid my hand to the back of her neck, holding her still. "I won’t let you get far if you try."
Her lips curved. "I know."
