Chapter 35: Chapter 35: Coming Home

"Alright, Uncle... Father-in-law, I’m home now. You can think over anything you need to consider once you’re back home. If anything comes up, have Vivian call me anytime."

Just as Marquis Jones was lost in thought, the carriage arrived at Lynn’s residence.

Vivian and her parents glanced at Lynn’s house, which was just an ordinary dwelling and not particularly grand.

But no one doubted Lynn’s ability to afford a mansion. Perhaps he was just being modest... uh, modest?

Thinking of Lynn’s actions today at Duke Wilson’s Mansion, it didn’t quite match the word "modest."

"Can... can I go inside to have a look?"

Vivian suddenly spoke up, having remained silent throughout her father’s conversation with Lynn. Looking at the "Lin Mansion" sign above the door, she felt an overwhelming curiosity. She wanted so much to learn more about Lynn, otherwise, how could she suddenly become his girlfriend with no say in the matter...

Nevertheless, considering Lynn’s defense of her tonight and the conflict that possibly erupted because of her, he had performed well in various tests she set — albeit marginally passing.

Things were progressing far too quickly. She wasn’t even prepared to be a proper girlfriend, yet her father was already discussing the dowry with Lynn...

"If you’d like to have a look, you’re more than welcome. Please, go ahead,"

Lynn said as he hopped off the carriage, offering a hand to Vivian. She pouted slightly but obediently reached out her hand for Lynn to help her down.

Now, she no longer resisted holding hands with Lynn. After all, they’ve been holding hands for quite some time; she was just now coming to terms with it.

"Uncle, Auntie, would you like to join us too?"

After leading Vivian to the mansion’s entrance, Lynn remembered to invite her parents along, assuming they wouldn’t feel comfortable leaving Vivian alone with him, even if they were right outside.

With sincere intentions toward his first love, Vivian, Lynn was absolutely serious. What he wished for was genuine affection from her, blessed by friends and family, not merely a short-lived fling.

Though he might lack experience and might not act perfectly in all aspects, he endeavored to express his genuine feelings as best he could.

"Then let’s go together."

Since Lynn extended the invitation, Vivian’s parents couldn’t feel reassured leaving the level 100 Vivian alone with the level 999 Lynn. They readily accepted the invitation.

Thus, Vivian, her parents, and Lynn entered Lin Mansion together.

From the outside, Lynn’s residence appeared rather plain, and upon entering, it turned out to be just that — plain and simple...

They spotted nothing valuable inside, and the decor was quite ordinary. If Lynn weren’t the owner, Marquis Jones and his wife would have assumed it belonged to some moderately wealthy commoner.

Vivian herself found Lynn’s home quite satisfactory. Though small, it felt cozy. If she were to live here with Lynn, add a child or two in a couple of years — ideally a son and a daughter — things would be perfect.

"Rustle rustle"

Suddenly, an unusual sound came from the direction of the courtyard wall. While the inexperienced Vivian felt nothing, Marquis Jones and his wife were startled. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

Could it be the pursuers from Duke Wilson’s Mansion? Or had His Majesty sent the Royal Guard? Either scenario spelled trouble!

Then, as Lynn kept smiling, Vivian looked at him and smiled as well, feeling happy. Marquis Jones and his wife watched nervously, as a pair of rabbit ears suddenly appeared on the wall.

Rabbits?

Would rabbits climb walls?

Marquis Jones and his wife were baffled until those ears revealed a genuinely human head, surprising them to realize the feared trouble was merely a little girl.

"Big cousin, you’re back! Little Yuna saw your house lights on and came over to check."

Perhaps sensing the presence of others, Little Yuna hesitated to climb over the wall, unlike her usual self who would have already thrown herself into Lynn’s arms by now.

At this moment, the sky had grown quite dark. Though there were some lights on, visibility wasn’t as clear as during the day, especially since Vivian, due to her weak abilities, had a poor night vision. She could only hear the sweet, soft voice of the little girl without being able to see her clearly.

"Little Yuna, you need to go to bed obediently at night, or you won’t grow tall. Lynn brother will come to play with you tomorrow. Go back and sleep for now."

With guests around, Lynn couldn’t talk to Little Yuna for long. Since he lived here for the time being, he would have plenty of opportunities to play with her later. Perhaps in a few days, it wouldn’t be just him playing with her.

The "not just one person" included himself and the soon-to-be-adopted Little Youli, and perhaps even Xiya and Vivian...

"Oh, oh! Little Yuna understands, she needs to grow big and tall, just like that pretty sister."

The obedient and understanding Little Yuna replied promptly. The "pretty sister" she referred to was undoubtedly Vivian, who was petite and delicate — a typical well-behaved noble girl, not a tall, long-legged type. If Little Yuna wished to grow like her, she probably wouldn’t grow very tall.

"Goodbye, big cousin. Little Yuna is going back to sleep~~"

With these parting words, Little Yuna’s round head and rabbit ears disappeared from the wall, leaving Lynn’s guests in astonishment.

Your neighborly relationships really are remarkably well...

"That’s a kid from next door, a very cute little one. You’ll get to know her in the future."

Lynn said this to Vivian specifically, knowing her parents would never move in to live with him. Whether they got to know Little Yuna was of no concern.

"Then is your daughter cute? Why haven’t I seen her?"

Vivian nodded seriously at Lynn’s words and then asked him.

On their way here, hadn’t he said he adopted an eight-year-old daughter? Yet she hadn’t seen her at his house.

"The orphanage is still processing the paperwork. She should be here within a few days. If you want to see her, feel free to come over often during that time..."

Lynn certainly wouldn’t tell Vivian that his other romantic interest, Xiya, hadn’t yet finished her tasks, hence Little Youli wasn’t present. He used "still processing paperwork" as an excuse, and at the end of his words, reminded Vivian she could visit frequently.

Visit frequently? When the time comes, will it be meeting his daughter or... making a daughter? I’m not even going to comment!

Marquis Jones and his wife, having been through the same experience, both cocked their mouths.
