Chapter 281: Chapter 22: The Fallen Noble Lady

"Yes, Your Majesty." Andophin saluted, agreed, and turned to find the housekeeper.

Bring back? And unharmed?

A chilling gleam surfaced in Andophin’s eyes.

She could bring back a complete corpse for the King!

...

After Lou Sha and Tianmiao went out, they seemed to enter a tunnel.

This was a very narrow tunnel, just wide enough for one person, with a soft surface instead of stone bricks. The two walked one after the other, with only the candlestick Lou Sha had casually grabbed providing light.

They continued forward. This tunnel was incredibly eerie, seemingly endless. Darkness engulfed them from both front and back, no matter which direction they walked, it felt like they were being consumed.

The two walked mechanically forward, seemingly for a long time, yet still saw no exit.

"Tianmiao, are you tired?" Exhausted from constantly running, Lou Sha felt fatigued and thirsty. She pursed her cracked lips, regretting not saving a bottle when she’d smashed the wine rack earlier.

Tianmiao didn’t respond, but suddenly stopped.

"What’s wrong, Tianmiao?" Lou Sha asked.

Tianmiao stood still and silent.

Feeling more anxious, Lou Sha asked nervously, "Tianmiao, what’s wrong? Are you okay?" Was there some new danger ahead?

"Listen," Tianmiao said softly.

"Do you hear something?" Lou Sha asked.

Both of them fell silent, straining to hear the sounds of the narrow tunnel.

"Giggling~"

From afar, a haunting chuckling echoed in the tunnel, sounding like a baby’s laughter, yet also like a woman’s.

Tianmiao suddenly turned around and quickly said to Lou Sha, "Turn around, run quickly!"

Lou Sha didn’t waste a moment on questions, sprinting back the way they came. They ran rapidly, but the tunnel seemed never-ending.

At this point, the only source of light in the tunnel extinguished, and in the rush, Lou Sha felt someone blow out the candle flame she carried.

"Damn it! What’s going on? Is the witch manipulating this?" Lou Sha couldn’t help but curse.

Tianmiao understood what was happening.

This wasn’t the witch’s doing. Instead, there were too many spirits inside that did not want anyone to leave alive.

They kept running and running, as if racing for their lives. Lou Sha’s legs felt heavy, each weighing a thousand pounds, but she gritted her teeth and pushed forward.

As they ran, a glimmer of light appeared ahead. Tianmiao gave Lou Sha a strong push forward, causing her to roll and fall out of the tunnel, with Tianmiao following closely behind.

Gasping for breath, Lou Sha lay on the ground, without the strength to move a finger. She immediately turned to find Tianmiao and saw her right beside her. Tianmiao’s face showed no change, and her breathing wasn’t as rapid as Lou Sha’s. Was Tianmiao’s stamina really this good?

"Are you okay?" Tianmiao asked softly.

"I’m alright," Lou Sha nodded, then looked up at the place they had just jumped from. She saw a black hole slowly disappearing, the tunnel entrance vanished before their eyes. Lou Sha stood up, scanning their surroundings.

"This seems to be a dungeon?" Lou Sha frowned. Nobles building dungeons to imprison those they deemed guilty was nothing unusual. It looked like this was Duke Andophin’s dungeon.
