Chapter 885: Raphael's Plan

Raphael considered the option of simply eradicating all of the messengers in one blow. That was the easiest way for him to get rid of all the letters that included Rowena's portraits and it would keep her safe.

King Draco would come to realize that someone was against his wishes and might stop finding Rowena if he realized that he incited the wrath of a god.

However, not only did Raphael not wish to spill the blood of innocent people who were only ordered by King Draco… something like that would be heard of by his father.

The King of Cretea was going to be furious if he heard of what Raphael did for one human.

That was why Raphael was going to deal with it in a less obvious manner. It was a task that even one god alone would have difficulty accomplishing.

However, not only did Raphael succeed with his task which proved his diligence, but it was also because he was the Seventh Prince of Cretea that had the help of his friends.

Raphael pulled a few favors with some other gods and made them swear to keep it a secret.

"We will not harm a single human." Raphael addressed the other gods who joined him that day.

"Any letter that arrives at the seaport will be held back by me. I'll make the waters extremely unsafe to travel in so they won't get delivered to kingdoms over the seas," the sea god said.

"Good, as for the letters that will be sent via falcons, birds, and other similar messengers?"

"Naturally, the birds will completely miss their route and deliver the letters back to me," the god of the aviary said.

"I'll check every city and rip the papers from the city walls and villages," another god said.

"...Raphael, can you please remind us why we're doing this again?" Nymia, the goddess of rivers, complained.

"Even if we all do this, it would be incredibly hard to beat all of the humans from delivering the letters. This King Draco will only send more messengers and letters." another god added with a grumble.

"Yeah, I think that man is kind of crazy."

"It is to repay the debt that I owe to Rowena," Raphael explained. "I owe her my life, and that is why I will grant her the freedom to be free from her father. Do you not think that it is a fair price for the life of a god or do you all have more complaints?"

"But after we do this… you'll be done right?" Nymia said. "Your 'debt' will be paid and we can all return to Cretea right?"

"..."

Raphael knew that he should say yes to not make his friends worry.

;

However, why did that feel so unsatisfactory?

He wanted to see Rowena again.

"Raphael?" Nymia looked at him seriously. "After we do this, we all return to Cretea and we don't say a word to your father. That's the agreement if you want us to help you."

"Of course." Raphael faked a smile. "I am simply here to repay my debt. That's all."

***

Prince Liam successfully managed to bribe the innkeeper into giving him another extra key to Julian's and Rowena's room. He paid a lot of extra money to get the key, but he really didn't want to be found out by 'Harlow' and have her be disappointed in him.

He was already lying, but it was the first time that he felt so free and happy.

Prince Liam loved both his mother and father, however, his life in the palace was so suffocating and he just wanted to be able to enjoy his life without any pressure on becoming the future king.

While Prince Liam washed his face with cold water and prepared himself to return to the room that he shared with 'Harlow'... he sighed sadly.

"Uff... If only my older brother and the late queen hadn't died during his birth, I would have been put in a less stressful position," Prince Liam said to himself. "My mother said it was better that the first queen died, or else I wouldn't have been born but…"

"Julian, are you done? You've been in the bathroom for too long." Rowena knocked on the door. Her voice was filled with utmost concern. "Did you hit your head against anything?"

"Uhm, coming!" Prince Liam said and quickly dabbed a towel all over his face and nervously went out to open the door. He came face to face with Rowena who looked at him patiently.

"Are you alright? Did you vomit or anything?" Rowena asked. "You still look unwell."

"A-ah, I'm fine…" Prince Liam quickly moved past her and quickly walked onto the bed. His cheeks became red again as he gazed upon 'Harlow's' beauty.

"Oh, you want to use the bed," Rowena said.

Prince Liam's eyes widened and he immediately stood up. "O-oh, sorry. My bad, it was rude of me to take it from a lady."

Rowena stared at 'Julian' with a frown. He had been acting pretty weird, and even apologetic which was strange. It was unusual to see Julian being extra polite like this.

Rowena rubbed the back of her head and shrugged. "It's okay. You can use it. I was going to offer it to you since you were sick anyway."

"I see…" Prince Liam hadn't once experienced what it was like to sleep

on the floor. "Well, I'm alright. You can take the bed while I sleep on the floor."

"You look like you really need some rest." Rowena tugged an extra blanket and pillow from the bed and then moved onto the floor. "I was going to actually discuss what we're going to do tomorrow. But you might want to sleep."

"Tomorrow?" Prince Liam blinked.

"Yes, the Wishing Mermaid Lagoon sounds… dangerous if it was truly a portal to the mermaid realm," Rowena explained. "And while I'm all for checking it out and exploring a new realm, it doesn't seem like the best choice."

"O-oh yes, of course. Naturally." Prince Liam agreed in a heartbeat.
