The Crowned Greed: Transmigrated into a Demonic Dragon-Chapter 189: Ragebaiting A King
"Can’t you forgive me this time?"
"Nope."
"Please."
"Still, no."
"Will you really put someone the same age as your son in prison?"
"Kid, my son himself is in prison! No means no."
Next to the abyssal gate, Dante, smiling widely, tried to convince Valor to let him go.
"What about this..." Dante suggested: "Let me go and I promise I’ll never come near again. Not only the Holy Kingdom and Uldor, I won’t get close to the regions themselves!"
Valor shook his head: "No, I can’t let a threat like you bring chaos into this peaceful world. As a king, it’s my duty to punish you and correct kids like you."
Dante’s smile widened: "Sir, it’s not like I’m judging you, but aren’t you the King Valor who caused the death of thousands, if not millions of innocents?"
Valor tapped Dante’s forehead lightly: "Yes, necessary sacrifices. Every single death hurt me more than you can imagine, but they were sacrifices I was willing to take. That’s the curse a poor king like me has to carry."
Dante endured the urge to spit on Valor’s face and added: "Opening this gate and eating that demon hurt me too, you know. We are not that different. Look in my eyes, don’t you see your younger self in them?"
Valor leaned closer, examining Dante’s dark eyes: "Hmm, I think you’re right. You know, I hated my younger self at one point. This makes me even more willing to imprison you."
Dante’s smile faded away instantly, then he sighed and gave up.
That guy was just having fun. He wasn’t going to let Dante leave.
’I wish whatever comes from the chaos gate would hunt you down! Parasite, make sure that he never sleeps comfortably again!’
"I’m doing that, and don’t call me a parasite!"
Unaware of Dante’s internal conversation, Valor grabbed Dante’s hair and pulled him toward the abyssal gate.
"That’s a bit disrespectful."
"You’ll get used to it, kid."
Against absolute power, there was nothing Dante could do.
He likely could use his Crown, but revealing it would bring more harm than good.
"VALOR, FIGHT ME YOU COWARD!"
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Just then, Valor had to stop. The area around the barrier suddenly glowed with golden light, as though the sun had descended to the mortal world.
Everything became so bright that even Dante had to close his eyes firmly, and yet he still felt immense pain.
’Were those missiles? What was that just now?!’
Although Dante couldn’t see everything, he noticed that the light was caused by a sort of explosive attack.
"Oh, we have a guest! Kid, I’ll introduce you now to my closest friend and the only man who has a spot in my heart!" As Valor spoke, he dragged Dante toward the edge of the barrier.
After a few moments, the light cleared, revealing a familiar figure that Dante had seen before.
He was a man wielding a glorious silver spear and wearing shining, light armor.
His sharp features showed him as a man in his mid-thirties, not too old nor too young. And the most attractive features about him were his eyes and hair.
His hair was pure white like snow, not the white hair of old age, but rather charming white hair.
His eyes were sharp, piercing, golden eyes. Dante had seen them before through Fafnir’s eyes, and he was still certain that there was something special about them.
Lastly, he had two pairs of golden wings on his back, not the sharp wings of the dragons, but beautiful wings with golden feathers.
However, there was one last thing that got Dante and Valor’s attention.
He had a white crown hovering above a golden halo on his head, it was inlaid with several golden gemstones and had a divine appearance.
The man had a furious expression on his face. If his gaze could kill, Valor would have died a thousand times. He looked at Valor as though he were looking at his biggest enemy.
And... that was the truth.
Because that man was...
"Zaragoza!" Valor left Dante’s hair and spread his arms in joy: "It’s been so long, huh? Come’ere, handsome man, give me a big hug. Imagine me as your wife who also happens to be your sister!"
BAM!
Zaragoza thrust his spear toward the barrier, causing a big explosion that almost blinded Dante, then gritted his teeth and roared: "COME OUT OF YOUR BARRIER AND FIGHT ME FACE-TO-FACE IF YOU DARE!"
Valor frowned and dug in his ear: "You still have anger issues? Zara, my love, you are a king! A king can’t behave like that. What will your enemies say about you?"
BAM!
Zaragoza stabbed the barrier again: "YOU BASTARD!"
Valor took a step back, showing an expression of sadness and shock: "B-bastard? Are you calling me a bastard? Zara, you’re hurting my feelings!"
Suddenly, he covered Dante’s ears with his hands: "Also, our child is hearing us! Zara, we can argue in our room, but not in front of our innocent child! What if he learns from you and starts using those bad words? I can’t allow this."
"Just step out of your barrier and I WILL TEAR YOUR ASS APART! YOU PATHETIC FAKE KING!" 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
BAM!
"Zara, your language!"
BAM!
"..."
Dante looked at Valor, then at Zaragoza, then at Valor again.
"What am I watching exactly?" Dante couldn’t help but let his thoughts out loud.
Was Valor really messing with Zaragoza that casually? And succeeding?!
’And when did I become their child? What the hell?!’
Dante felt a strange sense of confusion. Was he supposed to laugh or feel bad for Zaragoza, considering his situation?
And what was wrong with that Valor? Was this really a good time to mess with his enemy?
’Is there a hidden purpose behind this... or is he just having fun?’
Dante wished that it were the former. He didn’t want to think that such a person somehow became a king.
All of a sudden, a big scroll appeared in Valor’s hand: "I forgot to mention... I had a small conversation with your daughter two months ago. I thought you’d like to see how she looks now and hear her voice, so I recorded the whole conversation with the highest quality!"
Instantly, he threw the scroll toward Zaragoza, who caught it hesitantly, his eyes trembling.
Valor crouched behind Dante and patted his shoulder: "Watch this, kid. You’re about to see why having children as a king could be a curse."
Dante frowned as Zaragoza opened the screen with trembling hands, only for his expression to darken instantly.
In his eyes, Dante could see guilt, sadness, anger, disgust, and regret. At this moment, his presence wasn’t that of a mighty king.
And soon after, Dante’s expression darkened as well.
He couldn’t see the scroll, but the scroll produced sound, as though it were a video from Earth.
And Dante wished he couldn’t hear them.
"I agree with him." Dante hissed: "You are a sick bastard."
