A smile crept into Rona Langdon’s eyes as she looked at Cara Preston. "Cara, you’re just too clever!"

Rona Langdon said smugly, "Of course. The children I’ve raised are all exceptional."

Cara Preston just smiled faintly at this statement. She acknowledged her own excellence but certainly didn’t feel the same about Maxwell Preston. In her eyes, Maxwell was a selfish, self-serving bastard and a scumbag, just like Rona Langdon. She would never, ever marry Maxwell Preston.

Vera Xavier glanced at the two of them and said nothing, offering only a small smile. She was tired of playing this ’loving sisters’ act with Cara Preston.

When the four Prestons arrived at the Nathan residence, Master Nathan was already waiting at the door. After they got out of the car, Master Nathan exchanged a few pleasantries with Zachary Preston before turning directly to Vera Xavier with a smile and a wink. "I had the kitchen prepare a lot of your favorite dishes today. You have to eat your fill later."

Vera Xavier smiled and thanked him. Cara Preston then jumped in to make her presence known. "Happy birthday, Mr. Nathan! May you have a long and prosperous life!"

The guests Master Nathan had invited today were all major figures in Crestfall, titans of politics or business. Seeing Master Nathan’s condition, they were all a little curious.
