The Celibate Tycoon Has Fallen-Chapter 93: However You Want to Play, It’s Fine
Yelena hid her head behind Lindsay, "Mom, it’s raining so heavily outside. Did you come to pick me up on purpose?"
"I wasn’t comfortable with you coming home so late."
She hugged her mother’s waist tightly, "I can take a taxi myself."
Yelena’s eyes felt a bit hot, "Mom, I’m sorry."
"Yelena, you’ve done right by everyone."
The only person she owed was probably herself.
Jasper lowered the car window a bit; the rain was heavy, and the wind blew it inside the car.
The electric bike weaved through the street, and even though both were wearing raincoats, Yelena’s pants were completely soaked, and her feet were submerged in water.
Jasper suddenly felt a little annoyed by the rain, raindrops falling on his hand were freezing cold.
The bike passed a street where Lindsay often picked up takeaways, "Yelena, have you had dinner? Are you hungry?"
"Mom, didn’t you eat?"
Lindsay parked the bike by the roadside, "The braised food from this shop is very popular; they often have business even in the middle of the night. Shall we buy some?"
"I’ll go," Yelena hurriedly got off the bike, "wait for me a moment."
The braised food was packaged quickly, and Jasper saw her running back soon, smiling, her voice fragmented by the sound of the rain.
"Mom, I bought tiger skin chicken feet, extra large ones."
"Okay, let’s go home."
If the car followed them further, they’d enter Yelena’s neighborhood.
Hailey hesitated but still asked, "Young Master, should we continue?"
"No need, head back to The Summit Gardens."
When Yelena got home, she opened the door gently, afraid of disturbing Anne.
But as soon as they walked inside, Anne poked her head out of the room, "Sister, did you come back with Mom?"
"Hmm, why aren’t you asleep yet?"
Anne came out wrapped in a cotton robe, "I took a nap after dinner. The rain is so heavy outside, your clothes are all wet."
Yelena let Lindsay shower first, and when they were done tidying up, Anne brought out two bowls of tomato egg soup noodles.
She sat beside them, watching them eat.
Raindrops pounded on the window, and it was bone-chilling inside, but Yelena felt warm after drinking the hot soup.
Anne knew she was a drag on the family, so she was sensible from a young age.
Yelena sometimes felt that her sister was the strength that supported her, no matter how tough the days were. Whenever she thought of Anne, she could get through anything.
The next day, Yelena received a call from Chester, saying Shawn had come.
She hurried to The Sovereign Club, to the private room where Shawn was. He seemed quite surprised to see her not in work clothes.
"Not working tonight? Have you made enough money?"
"Master Thorne, did you bring that IOU note?"
Shawn scrutinized Yelena’s face and sat down on the sofa, "What do you mean?"
"I’ve saved enough. Can we settle the debt?"
Shawn narrowed his eyes, "A million?"
"Yes."
"Who’s the big fool who let you fleece them in just these few days?"
Yelena ignored his comments, "It doesn’t matter how I got the money. Just tear up the IOU."
"I don’t carry that thing around. Why don’t you come to my place and get it?"
Yelena wouldn’t throw herself into the lion’s den, "Can I trouble Master Thorne to have someone deliver it?"
Shawn propped his face with his palm, watching Yelena with interest, "Let me first see if your money is enough."
She hesitated for a moment, then took the check and bank card out of her bag.
Yelena placed them on the coffee table and pressed on the card, "I can log in now and show you. There’s half a million in the card."
"And the check? Who gave it to you?"
Shawn grabbed Yelena’s wrist, lifting her hand to glance at the name on the check.
"Young Master is rather generous. All this money must be from him, right?"
Shawn’s gaze hardened, "Did I forget to tell you that any money from Jasper doesn’t count at all?"
"Why?" Yelena’s heart skipped a beat. Surprisingly, she wasn’t too shocked. She already had a feeling that things wouldn’t be that simple.
"Because if so, the money would come too quickly and easily." Shawn looked at her with satisfaction, watching her face go pale, "Jasper is willing to spend a lot of money on you, isn’t he?"
"We acknowledge the debt, and we’re willing to repay it. What else does Master Thorne want?"
Shawn picked up the check, and Yelena feared he would tear it apart. Just as he placed his fingers on it, she grabbed his arm.
"No!"
"Yelena, why don’t you just tell Jasper the truth? That you entered The Sovereign Club because your friend owes me money." Shawn used the check to lift her chin.
"Aren’t you afraid I’ll go after Madeline? You’re afraid Jasper won’t care about her, and then I could do whatever I wanted with her, right?"
Yelena matched the man’s gaze, neither humble nor arrogant, exhibiting a calm demeanor.
"Is Master Thorne bored and playing games? You might as well have said at the beginning, no matter how much I earn, it’s useless. But don’t forget, you signed an agreement with me." 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
Shawn used the corner of the check to lightly scrape her chin.
"I didn’t say I wouldn’t acknowledge it. Don’t rush. In ten days, you can use the money to exchange for the IOU, and I’ll leave you and your friend alone."
"What do you want from me during these ten days?"
Shawn enjoyed her intelligence, "Be my girlfriend."
Yelena’s brows knitted together, and the man laughed softly, "Relax, I won’t make you sleep with me. If you’re unwilling, I won’t force you. But when I want to have dinner or chat, you have to come over."
Yelena’s tense expression slowly relaxed, and she smiled naively, "Really?"
"Really."
Inside, Yelena mocked him, knowing she was just pretending to trust his words.
Relying on Shawn’s charity was useless; Yelena had to make her own way out of this.
Just lacking a bit of time, enduring these ten days should be enough.
Yelena smiled happily, "Alright."
Shawn had a smug grin, thinking she was just a busty, clueless woman, easy to deceive.
But Yelena was clear-minded, knowing those who toy with others would eventually be toyed with themselves, and bad deeds would certainly meet retribution.
"Since you’ve gathered your money, you don’t need to come to The Sovereign Club from tomorrow. Tomorrow night, I’ll send a driver to pick you up for dinner."
Shawn placed the check back on the coffee table, "If you don’t say anything, I’ll take it as a yes."
Yelena pressed her lips into a line and collected the check and bank card from the table.
...
But the next day, she didn’t expect Jasper would call her.
Yelena dared not delay and quickly answered, "Hello, Young Master."
"Come over tonight."
