The Celibate Tycoon Has Fallen-Chapter 45: Are You Pregnant?
The chest behind her was scorching hot, and Yelena Hughes wanted to pull his hand away.
"Let go first."
"Go take a shower, and come down for dinner once you’re ready."
Her head felt heavy and her feet light, and her body was weak. If she didn’t replenish herself soon, something bad might happen.
Yelena Hughes didn’t have a change of clothes, so she had to keep wearing that shirt. When she went downstairs, she saw that Jasper Yale was already seated at the dining table.
She glanced at the clock on the wall; it was almost noon.
The table was filled with food, a feast of delicacies.
"Sit."
Yelena Hughes sat down, starving. "Just the two of us?"
"Yeah, eat up."
Yelena Hughes picked up her chopsticks. "What happened to me yesterday? I can’t even remember."
Jasper Yale was wiping his fingers with disinfectant wipes, leaving none untouched. "You had a bit of low blood sugar; it’s nothing."
The last two words were said with some weight, and Jasper Yale placed a piece of lobster in Yelena Hughes’ bowl. "Eat."
She didn’t think too much, focusing instead on filling her stomach. Her bowl piled higher and higher. "Stop... I can serve myself; I can’t finish all of this."
She needed to recuperate, so her weakened body could slowly recover.
Jasper Yale gave her another bowl of soup, full of various precious medicinal herbs. "Drink."
Yelena Hughes was stuffed, her stomach feeling quite bloated. "I’m full."
"No stopping, eat more."
Was he unhappy with her and just found another way to torment her? If she died from overeating, Jasper Yale probably wouldn’t be held legally responsible, right?
Yelena Hughes picked up the small bowl and sipped slowly. Just when she finished, she saw Jasper Yale about to serve more food.
"No more, my lord," she pleaded softly, "if you want to torture me, find another way, okay? It’s really awful being stuffed."
Jasper Yale put his chopsticks down on the table. "Is it so wrong for me to be good to you, Yelena Hughes?"
"No, thank you for your care, my lord. I’m really full."
Yelena Hughes sat in the brightly sunlit room. Her skin was almost translucent, her hair long and freshly washed, hanging loose over her chest. "I have to go to work."
"Try it."
"Then what am I staying here for?"
Aaron Payne said she hadn’t rested enough, right? "Sleep."
Yelena Hughes tensed like facing a big enemy, sitting up straight. "I still have injuries, and they’re very painful."
"I’ve seen them, but they don’t prevent you from sleeping." Jasper Yale knew she misunderstood but didn’t correct her.
Yelena Hughes stood up, but in her current state, she couldn’t go anywhere. "Do you have any clothes I could borrow? Women’s clothes."
"No."
She didn’t believe it. "Can I look for some myself? If I find something, I’ll wear it out."
Jasper Yale pointed into the air with his chopsticks, "What you’re wearing looks great. I like it very much."
It’s much better than that worn-out cheongsam.
Yelena Hughes walked around upstairs but found nothing except a pair of slippers.
Her ankles were slender, and her legs were slim. She had already walked around Jasper Yale twice.
"Could Hailey Jenkins bring me a set of clothes? Would it trouble him too much?"
"No, with such a high salary, you want him to run errands for you?"
Yelena Hughes had no choice, but after just two steps, her stomach suddenly churned uncomfortably. She held her mouth, rushing into the bathroom.
She hugged the toilet and vomited. "Ugh—"
Jasper Yale followed the sound and came over, leaning against the door without entering. Yelena Hughes had almost vomited out everything she ate.
She was feeling terrible. After cleaning up, she stood up.
Jasper Yale furrowed his brow tightly, watching her turn on the faucet to wash her face with cold water.
When Yelena Hughes came out, she tried to walk past him, but Jasper Yale lifted a leg, "What’s wrong?"
"I don’t know, maybe it’s a stomach issue."
Jasper Yale grabbed her chin, lifting her face, "Are you pregnant?"
"What?" Yelena Hughes was startled herself.
"After that time at your place, did you take the pill?" Jasper Yale scrutinized her face, not missing even the slightest expression.
Yelena Hughes nodded quickly, "Yes, I did."
Every time, she took it.
"You better not be lying to me."
Yelena Hughes’ eyes showed a faint sharpness, though not overtly aggressive. "Does my lord think I want to get pregnant on purpose? What would I gain from it? Do you think I could make you abandon Miss Alden and let me secure my position through this?"
"You wouldn’t dare."
"Then why suspect me?"
Jasper Yale didn’t particularly consider her feelings. "If you use pregnancy to threaten me, I suppose I could still agree to a few boxes of medicine."
Yelena Hughes looked at his thin lips. He had a faint mole below his lip, enhancing his cold and indifferent demeanor.
"My lord thinks I’m that cheap, using my womb to gamble for a few boxes of medicine?"
"But that medicine is your sister’s life."
His words struck her heart unreservedly. Yelena Hughes no longer hid anything. "Do I lack medicine now? Didn’t Miss Alden give it to me?"
Jasper Yale recoiled as if touching a hot potato, letting go.
Yelena Hughes’ chin had turned red from his grip. She wasn’t sure if it was her stomach bothering her or if she just felt nauseated. She covered her mouth and gagged.
"I’ll have Aaron Payne come over to check on you."
"Aren’t you afraid of losing face, my lord?" Yelena Hughes still cherished her face. "Rest assured, I’m not pregnant."
Jasper Yale toyed with the ring on his pinky, "Maybe you don’t even know it yourself."
Even if it was an accident, he wouldn’t allow it.
Aaron Payne arrived, filled with anger that he couldn’t vent. "Did you play too far? Don’t you know how to use protection?"
Why did they have to find him for something like this? "Let her test it herself; pharmacies have plenty of kits."
Jasper Yale wasn’t reassured, "What if she intends to keep it?"
"Then a blood test is the only option."
They had seen too many women like this; pregnancy was indeed a shortcut.
Yelena Hughes sat on the edge of the bed as Jasper Yale and Aaron Payne walked in, seeing her legs still exposed. After stopping, Jasper Yale turned Payne around.
"Why aren’t you wearing the pants I gave you?"
Yelena Hughes stayed silent. Jasper Yale walked over to her, picked up the pants, and handed them to her.
She didn’t even glance at them. His expression turned cold. "Do I need to help you put them on?"
"Stop talking nonsense. How will the test be done? I’ll cooperate."
"..." Jasper Yale tightly clenched the fabric in his hand. "Do you like showing off to other men?"
Yelena Hughes glanced at her legs, "Doesn’t matter."
Jasper Yale flung the pants angrily to the floor, grabbed her waist, and tossed her back onto the bed, then wrapped her tightly in a blanket, only her head sticking out.
Aaron Payne listened to their conversation; this girl was impressive. Jasper Yale was this furious, yet he still carried her to bed.
"Come here."
Aaron Payne heard Jasper Yale call him.
Yelena Hughes tried to wriggle out of the blanket, but Jasper Yale held her shoulder down, not letting her move.
"You’ve wrapped her like a dumpling; how am I supposed to draw blood?"
Jasper Yale reached a hand inside, pulling out Yelena Hughes’ left hand. She seemed a bit anxious, appearing guilty in other people’s eyes.
"Yelena Hughes, are you really pregnant?"
