Chapter 36: Chapter 36: Do You Think I Like Doing This?

Yelena Hughes still shrank back, wanting to move her shoulders away.

Jasper Yale sensed her unease, his palm lightly patting her shoulder twice, clearly calming her emotions.

"We just passed by here, Yelena said the sounds seemed familiar, so we came in to take a look, turns out it’s an old classmate."

Charles Chambers sized up Jasper from top to bottom. Some people are naturally noble, their aura clearly overshadowed the rest. Even though he had never interacted with Jasper, Chambers felt anxious inside.

"Yelena, aren’t you going to say hello to your old classmates?"

Jasper always addressed her by her full name, making Yelena unused to this form of address.

"Long time no see." She forced a smile nonetheless.

"Come, sit with us," Charles Chambers was unwilling to waste this chance and called out to the steward at the door, "Is Mimi I called for here yet?"

The sound of those words from his mouth made Jasper uncomfortable, to the point he wanted to pull his teeth out.

"Mimi, she..." The steward was astute, if he wasn’t skilled at reading the room, how could he have made it this far? "She’s coming, I’ll go hurry her up."

"Shall we sit?" Jasper asked Yelena.

She shook her head, wanting to leave quickly.

"At least give some face to others, plus this Mr. Chambers surely wants to catch up with you."

"Yes, sit down, sit down." Charles Chambers warmly invited.

Jasper kept her by his side, soon a hostess entered carrying drinks, her figure swaying as she made her way over to the group.

"Hello, gentlemen, I’m Mimi."

"Who are you?" Charles Chambers was completely incredulous, could the information given to him have been wrong? "My friend has been here before, a regular of Mimi, don’t try to fool me."

"Is that so?" Jasper took over the conversation, "Why don’t you describe what she looks like?"

"She..." Charles Chambers glanced again at Yelena, who sat beside Jasper, half obscured by him.

As his gaze returned, it swept past the watch on Jasper’s wrist, a watch he’d seen in magazines. Very expensive, so costly that he couldn’t afford it even if he sold everything he owned.

Jasper eyed the liquor the hostess brought in, "Who ordered this?"

"Mr. Chambers did."

Jasper quietly cut him down, "You all take advantage of this gentleman’s ignorance and bring out the lowest quality drinks to deceive him. Open two bottles of 888, right now."

Charles Chambers heard 888 and thought, it’s okay, not too expensive, manageable.

The hostess’ eyes sparkled at the mention of 888, usually few people order this, her commission today could reach five figures!

Soon, the alcohol was brought over, ’Mimi’ carried the menu to Charles Chambers’ side, "Mr. Chambers, please sign here first, then I’ll uncork the bottles."

Jasper chuckled, "Who do you think you’re underestimating, worried about a dine and dash?"

"Young Master Yale, it’s just the rules, I’m just a worker, can’t break them."

Charles Chambers, confused, took the pen, without closely examining the price, he just signed his name, isn’t it 888 per bottle?

Pop, pop, both bottles were opened, swiftly poured into the glasses on the table.

Jasper glanced over, pulling Yelena to her feet, "Let’s go."

She was still in a daze, Charles Chambers lifted his drink to take a sip, "Don’t leave, tonight I’m treating, stay and chat."

Jasper gave a hollow laugh, maintaining a distant demeanor, "I’m afraid you won’t be able to settle the bill later, make a fool of yourself; Yelena and I will be upstairs, if you need help, you can come find us."

"What do you mean?" Who do you look down on? Two thousand something for drinks, can’t he afford it?

Jasper usually didn’t bother with such matters, people are ranked, he was at the top, today he’d lowered himself purely because of...

Yelena Hughes.

Charles Chambers downed the drink, "Yelena Hughes, do you still look down on me today? Here, Miss Mimi, bring two more bottles of 888."

Looking at Charles’ arrogant face, even though she had rejected him before, she had never embarrassed him, just disliked him, and he was still intent on exposing her wounds.

"Chambers, you don’t actually think the price of that bottle is 888, do you?"

"What else? How much more can it be? At most, some corkage fee."

"888 isn’t the price, you can check the bill, the sale price for one bottle is 288,000; if you’re a member, discounted it’s about 260,000."

Which means these two bottles cost nearly 600,000.

Charles Chambers was struck, like being hit by lightning, he hastily reached for the bill, knocked over a glass in the process.

His eyes widened, it was true! Two bottles, more expensive than his car, Chambers couldn’t accept it, he was dazed.

Scared into trembling hands and face, he watched as Yelena began to leave, "You know all this so well, why? Because you’re a lady here, right?"

She was!

The hostess squatting there joined in, "Young Master Yale never orders other drinks here, 888 is like water to him. She follows him, how could she not know these things?"

Yelena’s heart warmed, she gazed at the speaking young woman; she seemed really young.

She was the first person to speak up for Yelena since she began at The Sovereign Club.

She followed Jasper outside, the man walked ahead, she followed a few steps.

Seeing Jasper about to head upstairs, Yelena stopped, he hadn’t heard her footsteps continue, "Come here."

His tone was somewhat harsh, "Others can order you, I can’t order you?"

Yelena originally intended to say thank you, but the words stuck in her throat.

"Of course you can, who wouldn’t want to serve you, your tips alone could make my hands ache."

"Then don’t act indecisive here."

Yelena followed him into the VIP room, it was Young Master Yale’s exclusive room, the most spacious, luxurious place in The Sovereign Club.

The man stopped in front of the sofa, "Yelena Hughes, it seems you haven’t fully integrated here yet, still a bit green."

His words carried a hint of mockery, Yelena kept her lips tightly pursed, "Young Master’s meaning is I should integrate here, is it?"

"Don’t you quite like this job?" Otherwise, why come here every day?

Jasper took off his coat, casually draping it over the chair, Yelena felt the breath intertwine, a kind of tearing pain.

"Let me teach you, when you encounter those kinds of guests, don’t avoid them, pretend to flatter. With your assets, getting him to order a few more bottles shouldn’t be an issue."

Charles Chambers doesn’t have much money, just a pretender, no need for blood and gore, tonight’s two bottles of 888, worth remembering for a lifetime.

Jasper stepped towards Yelena, "If you like it, then work well here. Don’t just work hard, also use your brain."

Yelena’s eyes reddened, "Do you truly believe I’m born to endure this, that I enjoy doing this kind of thing?"

"Aren’t you?"
