Chapter 21: Chapter 21: He Won’t Care Whether You Live or Die

Yelena Hughes felt like she was being plunged into icy water, her head buzzing painfully. "You and Miss Alden get along so well..."

Jasper Yale patted her waist, "If we stay in the room too long, will your mom and the others come in?"

"They definitely will."

"Have you ever calculated how long I take each time?"

Yelena Hughes was no pervert; does this sort of thing need timing by the minute and second?

The pressure on her back was gone, and she immediately straightened up, Jasper suggesting something, "It’s over in just a while, such a coward?"

"Young Master Yale doesn’t end it in just a while, isn’t that insulting you?"

Jasper laughed coldly, "Am I not fast?"

He was almost gritting his teeth; Jasper held grudges deeply. That day, she had described him like this in front of other men.

Yelena Hughes couldn’t remember at all; she knew this was related to a man’s dignity, especially a man used to being praised—didn’t this mean he was inadequate?

"No one dares to say that about you, least of all me."

She heard a faint, disdainful sound spill from the man’s thin lips.

Jasper’s phone rang; Nancy Alden just couldn’t sit still anymore.

He answered with a hello.

"Not coming down yet?" Nancy looked towards Yelena Hughes’s room; only that room’s light had turned on not long ago.

"Soon."

"Jasper, I can’t sit still, my waist is hurting."

He immediately hung up and turned to walk outside, Lindsay Walsh was waiting in the kitchen, seeing Jasper come out, hurriedly stepping forward with a bag.

"Leaving already? Stay a while longer."

Jasper didn’t even want to spare the time for pleasantries, directly heading for the door, when Yelena Hughes came out, she saw Lindsay Walsh stuffing a plastic bag into the man’s hand.

"These are local farm eggs given by relatives, you can’t usually buy them, take them."

Yelena Hughes hurriedly dragged her pitifully weak leg over, "Mom, it’s okay."

Jasper certainly wouldn’t take them, and Yelena Hughes didn’t want to see her mother in such a humble posture.

Lindsay Walsh brushed her hand aside, "We don’t have anything good at home, Anne can finally sleep soundly recently, you’re really a good person, take them."

Jasper glanced at the bag in his hand, then looked towards Anne Hughes standing not far away.

She was frail from years of illness, her physique was so underdeveloped that she resembled a child who hadn’t grown up. She was very shy, now smiling at Jasper.

Smiling with complete vulnerability.

"Alright, thank you." He actually took them.

Yelena Hughes walked to the door, opened it, Nancy Alden was still waiting downstairs, she was not in a position to see him off.

When Jasper went downstairs, Lindsay Walsh chased after him, "Boil them, they’re nutritious."

Yelena Hughes hurriedly pulled Mrs. Hughes back inside.

When Jasper returned to the car, Nancy Alden didn’t look too happy, "Took so long?"

"Yeah, had a chat."

She saw the bag in Jasper’s hand, "What’s that?"

"Couldn’t refuse their kindness, it’s a gift of eggs."

Nancy took them and opened the window, directly tossing the bag outside. "You’re not going to refuse them, did you promise her something?"

"Hmm."

The patience Nancy Alden had while waiting was all worn out, "What kind of thing?"

"Small matter, she offended Felix Wood and asked me to protect her for a few days."

Nancy Alden knew it; Yelena Hughes was no simple matter. Women who looked like fox spirits didn’t have other skills, just dragging men into bed, there were plenty of frontguards.

"Don’t help."

The car started, Jasper found it amusing as he looked at her, "Didn’t you just say you admired her?"

"I just don’t want you to help her; whether she lives or dies has nothing to do with us."

Jasper didn’t respond, Nancy Alden suddenly started hitting her own leg fiercely.

Very strong hits, as if wanting to break the bone.

Jasper grabbed her wrist, "What are you doing?"

Nancy Alden took the opportunity to snuggle into his arms, knowing that using force was useless, her eyes immediately welled up with tears, "Don’t help her, please?"

"Doesn’t it hurt, hammering yourself like this?"

"Yes, but I have no feeling."

Her words immediately struck Jasper’s heart, causing his brows to crease in a grim arc. "There’s no need to make yourself suffer over this, you say not to help, I won’t help."

It’s just Yelena Hughes; naturally, she was no match for her.

"Jasper, my parents aren’t here anymore, please don’t leave me."

Nancy Alden tightly embraced him; she didn’t know why, but whenever she saw Yelena Hughes, she had a sense of crisis.

Yelena Hughes carried the trash bag down, just about to toss it when she saw a familiar bag.

She quickly stepped forward, only to see a pile of smashed eggs lying there.

Yelena Hughes felt somewhat stifled in her chest as she squatted down, seeing a few unbroken ones.

She picked them out one by one, wiping the yolk off the shells. Though to Jasper, these were worthless, Lindsay Walsh wouldn’t even eat them herself.

He could refuse, but shouldn’t trample on others’ belongings like this.

The matter with Felix Wood had fermented for two days, but suddenly, the hot search was removed.

Cleared completely, one could hardly find any information about this person.

This was within Yelena Hughes’s expectations; Felix Wood was in real estate, not short of money.

After work, Yelena Hughes didn’t go home; after working overtime, she found it was almost eleven o’clock.

She hurriedly exited the company building, fearing she couldn’t catch the last bus and subway, so Yelena Hughes had to hail a cab.

She felt a bit sleepy but still forced her eyes open; the past few days weren’t peaceful, better to be cautious.

The driver drove fast, Yelena Hughes looked at the street scenery outside the car window, "Driver, I’m going to Clearwell Village."

"Don’t worry, I won’t take detours to charge more."

However, the car quickly stopped at The Sovereign Club.

Yelena Hughes had already typed 110 on the screen, about to dial when the back of her hand was slapped.

The phone fell to the floor, the driver’s expression turned sinister, "You’d best behave, save yourself the trouble."

Someone was coming from outside, Yelena Hughes hurriedly grabbed the car door, but the other person was strong, as the door was opened, she was also pulled out.

"Let me go!"

Yelena Hughes was almost dragged inside, some people saw this scene, but in the face of Yelena Hughes’s plea for help, each of them remained indifferent.

She was pushed into a private room, the choking smell of smoke rushed at her, making it hard to open her eyes.

"Miss Hughes, what a coincidence, we meet again."

Yelena Hughes stood reluctantly still, seeing Felix Wood sitting on the sofa, staring at her like a venomous snake.

"I didn’t know you were a journalist. I’m always thinking of you, even came here looking for you..." Felix Wood got up, approached her menacingly.

"Don’t mess around, Young Master Yale will be here soon."

"Haha, still trying to bring up Young Master Yale?" Felix Wood spat, "He doesn’t care if you live or die, otherwise would I dare touch you?"

Yelena Hughes felt something was off, how could Felix Wood be so sure?
