The Celibate Tycoon Has Fallen-Chapter 143: The Young Master’s Fury
Nancy Alden had just walked out the door when she fell.
She wanted to get up; she knew Mrs. Yale might be watching from inside and she couldn’t let her see her so embarrassed.
But her legs couldn’t muster enough strength until a hand reached out and pulled her up.
Nancy grasped the cane tightly in her hand, using all her strength to hit her leg, "What use are they to me?"
Jasper Yale took her cane and quickly carried Nancy towards the car.
All the way, Nancy lay silent on his shoulder.
No crying or fussing as Jasper had imagined.
She seemed like a puppet with its soul extracted; she only knew Mrs. Yale wouldn’t accept her, no wonder Mr. Yale didn’t come downstairs today.
He wasn’t busy; he just didn’t want to get involved in this matter.
"Nancy?"
Nancy heard Jasper’s voice, but only clasped his arm more tightly, "Jasper, you know, I love children, I want to have my own..."
If it weren’t for that accident, she wouldn’t have faced this.
Jasper’s heart sank a bit; who would dare to send such things to the Yale Family? Besides, Nancy’s health situation, others wouldn’t know.
However.
Jasper remembered mentioning to Yelena Hughes his suspicion of her pregnancy, saying Nancy couldn’t have children. Turns out she remembered.
Hughes Family.
Yelena was busy in the kitchen, the table filled with steaming dishes.
Anne Hughes came in with her phone, "Sis, a call from your brother-in-law."
"He’s not my brother-in-law, why can’t you change that term?"
Yelena glanced at the caller ID, "Just leave the phone here."
"He’s called you many times, aren’t you going to answer?"
Yelena guessed what Jasper’s call meant, ready to question her; she had the nerve to act but hadn’t figured out how to handle the consequences.
"I’m busy, I’ll answer in a bit."
"Then let me hold it for you." Anne felt it was bad to leave someone hanging, especially since it was Jasper, so she answered, "Sis, quickly say something."
As she spoke, she held the phone to Yelena’s ear.
She heard breathing from the other side, seemingly filled with anger, Yelena quickly took the phone and hung up.
Her hands covered in grease, her heart beating wildly, Yelena put the phone in her pocket.
"Anne, you head out first, it’s too greasy in the kitchen."
Yelena deliberately avoided Jasper, knowing the moment she hung up he would suspect she was behind it.
Sly methods indeed, dealing such a vicious hand so quietly.
Nancy happily went to the Yale Family today, only to retreat in defeat thanks to Yelena Hughes.
A servant came down from upstairs, Jasper asked lightly, "How is she?"
"Miss Alden is resting, but she seems to have a bad mood, she didn’t want me to stay in the room."
The servant carefully added, "She... she won’t do anything rash, will she?"
Jasper surely couldn’t leave her like this.
He went upstairs, entering Nancy’s room to find it completely silent.
Jasper sat beside the bed, "I told the maid to prepare dinner, come up and eat some later."
"Mm."
Nancy’s voice was muffled under the covers, "Jasper, I miss Josephine."
Jasper placed a hand on the blanket, giving it a gentle pat, "In a few years, you’ll be able to see her."
She stayed silent, knowing it was impossible to rescue Josephine now.
...
This year, Yelena Hughes wasn’t peaceful.
On the morning of the first day of the New Year, before she could have a bite of dumplings, bad news arrived.
The news interview couldn’t be aired, practically delivering a crushing blow to Yelena.
Dean Holloway on the other end, with a machine-gun pace, "Don’t bother looking for the editor-in-chief, it’s useless; if they want to block you, a single word is all it takes."
"But I promised that gentleman, they’re still waiting to collect their paycheck and return home to reunite."
"I’m telling you secretly, it’s not that the news isn’t hot enough, someone instructed this not to go public."
"Who would be such a jerk?"
Dean coughed, "Young Master Yale."
"He..."
"Did you offend him somehow?"
Yelena suddenly clamped her mouth shut; Dean was particularly talented in digging up tidbits.
"Such news, if suppressed for long, is doomed; it’s New Year’s now, would resonate with the audience!"
Yelena certainly understood.
She hesitated for a moment and decided to call Jasper.
But the person on that end deliberately refused to answer, forcing Yelena to send messages, but the man didn’t reply. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
How she treated him yesterday is how he treated her today.
Yelena hurriedly left the house and called Hailey Jenkins on her phone.
Hailey answered promptly, "Hello, Miss Hughes."
"I’m looking for him."
"What business do you have with Young Master?"
Yelena explained her intentions; Hailey hesitated, "Young Master may not necessarily want to see you."
"Then please relay this: if he wants to vent anger, direct it at me, I hope he can drop the news issue."
Hailey seemed to have someone speaking nearby; he paused on the line for ten seconds before speaking to Yelena.
"Young Master is at the Hotspring Resort."
On the first day of the New Year, there were plenty of rideshares, but the fares were doubled.
Yelena couldn’t calculate this cost; the car passed winding roads to reach the Hotspring Resort.
She was blocked by a waiter, and after changing clothes and locking all her belongings in a locker, Yelena was shown to a hotspring.
It was a small courtyard, white fog billowed within the hotspring pool, heavy mist spread.
On a lounge chair, Jasper’s long legs were crossed, eyes lightly closed, and he didn’t open them upon hearing footsteps.
"Young Master."
Yelena called out.
Jasper wore headphones, as if he hadn’t heard; she stepped forward, "Young Master?"
The man donned a pure black bathrobe, delicate fabric exuding an aristocratic aura.
Yelena reached to push him; her hand barely touched Jasper’s shoulder when he opened his eyes.
Eyes deep like ink, devoid of warmth.
Jasper removed his headphones, aware of her intentions, "Yelena Hughes, you still have the nerve to come?"
She slowly straightened up, "Young Master had my news suppressed just to make me seek you out?"
"You could’ve stayed away just like yesterday. If you dare, never see me again."
The man had great pride; Yelena knew clashing with him wouldn’t bode well.
"My phone had issues yesterday, did Young Master look for me? What’s the matter?"
Jasper sneered coldly, tossing the headphones in front of Yelena, he stood up, a tall figure casting over her.
"Were the things sent to the Yale Family yours?"
