Chapter 119: 119: Broken Halo

After the Velari spoke, every Initiate got into position and formed a line.

There were a few scuffles here and there, but it was nothing serious.

Simon stood with his arms folded, and standing behind him was Thorgan.

They both stood and waited as the Initiates in front of him moved.

"Hey, third brother." Thorgan was bored out of his mind, and he could no longer help himself from speaking.

Simon’s lips twitched behind his mask, but he didn’t respond. He caught the Velari’s eyes glance in their direction for a split second.

There was no rule against them talking, but since he had drawn the interest of the Velari, he didn’t want to do anything for now.

However, despite his lack of response, Thorgan did not seem to care.

"Hey. What’s your title going to be? Have you thought about it?"

Some of the Initiates who were speaking paused and glanced in their direction, wanting to know what his response would be.

Simon had undeniably gained fame and attention in his class because of his scores in the trials, and little things like his title was going to keep on garnering attention from those in his class.

Simon calmly noticed this, and he could not help but sigh.

He was the center of attention once again cause of Thorgan.

’And I can hear the whispers of some wondering what my relationship is with Thorgan. They’re shocked he called me Third Brother.’

Simon looked at Thorgan, and although he could not see his face because of the mask, he could see the smile in his eyes.

"You’ll know when it’s my turn."

Thorgan shook his head. "No. Tell me now, brother. As your only brother, I need to know if your title is cool or not. I am very good at naming things. Much better than first brother."

Simon indifferently looked away and faced the front once again. "Like I said, you’ll know when it’s my turn."

Thorgan clicked his tongue behind the mask. "You’re no fun, brother."

"I’ve told you many times to stop calling me that. You’ll give off the impression about us."

The moment said these words, his eyes flashed as the third placed female Initiate was next to register her details with the Velari.

He observed and listened closely.

"Then, what do I call you? You’ve still never told me your name."

Simon did not respond. He nonchalantly waved his hand, signalling for Thorgan to keep quiet.

Then he heard the female Initiate’s title.

"Sunless."

Many other Initiates were also focused on her because of her shocking scores, and they all made sure to take note of her title, mask, and appearance.

Meanwhile, Simon frowned slightly after hearing her title.

’Sunless? Demons don’t have a sun or a star, only two moons. Does that mean she has gone to earth or she knows about earth? Who is she?’

Simon looked at Sunless as she stood with the other Initiates who had registered themselves.

It was then Jorra’s turn, and his title stunned and baffled many.

"Dawn."

Even the Velari was stunned for a moment, but he didn’t say anything.

However, when Merath walked up next and said her title, he could not help but give both Jorra and Merath strange looks.

"Dusk."

Dusk and Dawn.

Merath was Dusk, while Jorra was Dawn.

The Velari wanted to say a few things, but when he recalled that it was not his job and that there were other members of the clan that were more suitable to say what he wanted to say, he kept quiet.

He recorded their details, then he gestured for them to join the others.

A few minutes later, Simon was next, and Thorgan cheered him on from behind for whatever reason.

The hall which had been filled with whispers and silent murmurs was suddenly quiet as everybody’s focus was on Simon.

The Velari noticed this, and he was curious and confused.

By all means, Simon was just a Superior Lesser Demon, and compared to the others, he was weak in terms of his heart rank.

However, the Velari noticed that nearly every Initiate had their eyes on him and he was also the talk of some Initiates.

’Who is this boy? And why is everybody’s attention on him? Why are my senses telling me that he’s going to be an exciting one.’

The Velari decided to push his thoughts to the back of his mind, and focus on the present.

"What do you want your title to be?" The Velari asked.

Simon remained silent for a moment, then he gave his answer.

"Broken Halo."

The Velari subconsciously nodded his head, but in the next moment, he paused and looked at Simon with narrowed eyes.

"You want that to be your title?"

Simon calmly nodded.

The Velari stared at Simon for a few more seconds, then he spoke again.

"Why Halo? Why that title? Do you know what the word Halo signifies or means to the demons of old?"

’Of course I do. Why won’t I know what Halo means to you demons? It was my title as the Hero of Earth... The Halo of Earth... or The Halo in short.’

Simon knew that the reason why the Velari was asking him so many questions and not registering his title was because of the word ’Halo’.

The Velari’s main concern with the word ’Halo’ was not that it meant something for angels. It was not because a Halo was popularly know to be a ring that hovered above the head of an angel.

No

It was because ’Halo’ was his title as the Hero of Earth.

"I heard that a hero was once called The Halo. I was meant to be the Hero of my people, but I failed them."

Once again, this was a lie by Simon, and the people he was talking about was the Duskfang Tribe, not the people of Earth.

’Well, the chances of him trying to find out the actual truth is very low considering that he stays here and his hiding his true demonic energy.’

’He should be a hidden reclusive figure of the clan, and people like that don’t usually go out of their way to find out the truth for something as minor as this.’
