The Broken Angel & Her Overprotective Brothers-Chapter 355: The Lonely & Tiring Weekend
Emily stretched her arms over her head, trying to bring some energy to her tired arms. She had spent the first half of the day training with the Fae King, and the other half in her office even though it was Sunday.
Her gaze landed on her phone and she picked it up to see if she had received any messages, yet there was nothing. A sigh escaped her lips as she put down the phone and relaxed in her chair.
Since it was Sunday, it was also the day of the meeting between the two families - Sullivans and Dragnoir. That’s where Kaiden had been busy since the day before. Except for a phone call they shared the night before, the two of them hadn’t got to contact each other at all.
She found herself wondering what would be going on in the meeting. She just hoped for things to go smoothly for Shane and Sera.
"Are you still not done with the work?" Shadow’s familiar voice pulled her attention toward the man who just entered the office and headed straight toward her desk.
"Almost done. Just about to wrap up." She replied before starting to wrap up her work. It was still early in the evening and the last sunlight of the day filtered inside the office through the floor-to-ceiling glass windows, filling the room with a deep yellow, almost orange, and warm glow.
Shadow helped her with the pack-up and within the next five minutes, the two of them were ready to leave the almost empty and lifeless building behind.
"Are we heading to Alessandro mansion?" Shadow asked as he opened the passenger side door of the car for her. Once Emily climbed in, he closed the door and moved to settle in the driver’s seat before heading out to the parking area.
"No, let’s head to our apartment. Since it’s Sunday today, I’m sure my brothers have their own plans." She answered while quickly typing back a response to the message she just received from Leo who was going to spend the night with Rylan.
Daniel had plans with Annika and Claire while Simon, Crist, and Mark were planning to hang out with their friends at some pool party. As for Domenic, the eldest Alessandro himself didn’t have any particular plan but the Fae King did. Hence, considering the whole situation, Emily decided to rather spend the night at her apartment with Shadow instead of in the huge empty mansion where she could easily become a third wheel if any of her brothers decided to bring their partner home.
Shadow nodded his head in understanding before he headed the car toward uphill where their apartment was located.

The next morning when Emily woke up, she found a couple of messages waiting for her. Kaiden had messaged her regarding the success of the meeting between the two families.
Shane also sent her a similar message but sounded way more enthusiastic even through written words. Emily could feel her friend’s happiness and it made her feel just as happy for him.
There was also a message from Simon wishing her ’good night’ which suggested that he was quite drunk last night to send her such a random message considering his personality.
Taking a shower, she got dressed in black trousers, a white blouse, and high heels, before putting on some makeup and accessories.
She had a business meeting at ten o’clock in the morning, that’s why she discussed it with Aleron and they decided to move her training time to the afternoon for this particular Monday.
When she came downstairs, she found Shadow already working in the kitchen just like she was expecting. The man was dressed in black trousers and a dark olive-colored sweatshirt that hugged his muscles just perfectly. His hair was pulled back in a man bun and he had all his attention on his work.
"Good morning, Princess." He spoke in his not-so-usual soft voice as he stopped everything for a moment just to look up at her with a warm smile.
"Good morning." Emily returned the greeting as she entered the kitchen and started preparing a cup of hot coffee for herself.
A couple of moments later, the two of them were settled around the small dining table, enjoying the simple breakfast while discussing the activities of the day.
"Aleron is really going out of his way to help you. His changing the training time just based on your schedule speaks a lot even though he keeps denying any sort of leniency toward you." Shadow confessed truthfully once they reached the discussion of her ongoing training with the Fae King.
Emily let out a small sigh before she nodded her head and spoke, "I’m aware of it, and that’s exactly why I have started putting my actual efforts into these training sessions. Even though the two of us started at a shaky first encounter, I can see that he’s a good man, and even a great trainer even though his training methods suck sometimes."
Her confession at the end made Shadow chuckle who just shook his head and continued to sip his coffee. "I just want you to know, Princess, that the shift in his behavior toward you is not only because of his soulmate bond with Domenic, he’s not that kind of guy. The actual reason is you and the capability he sees in you."
A warm smile bloomed on Emily’s lips as she nodded her head in understanding before speaking - "I know. Still, thank you for your kind words."
Shadow gave a quick nod of acceptance before the two of them resumed with the task of finishing their breakfast.
Around half an hour later, the two of them were already heading out of the apartment and toward the location of the AIL Labels building. Before the business meeting, Emily had another meeting with the board of directors.
The morning was packed with business work and she only got a few minutes of break during lunch before Shadow dropped her at the outlines of Fae Realm where Aleron was waiting to teach her combat.
