The Alpha's Blind Fate-Chapter 447: Their Happy Ending (I)
ZINA (A Year Later)
Six months ago after the day she was reunited with Daemon, Zina found out that she was pregnant. The announcement coming from the stern-faced, snappy Healer of the Pack.
The woman’s features were soft, lips slightly parted in awe and eyes lifted to Zina as if to convey the truth and sincerity in her words.
"You’re two weeks pregnant, Your Majesty." She had repeated when Zina remained motionless and silent.
She had been waiting for that day. Praying for it even though she tried to pretend that it didn’t matter to her much. That her impatience was not nearly high enough...yet.
But those undid her that day.
"Are you sure?" She asked the older woman, "could it not be a false alarm? Fever and queasiness can be associated with other illnesses no?"
The woman frowned. "You question my expertise, my queen. But I assure you that you’ve missed your period well over by three weeks. And the other symptoms are on point. You are pregnant."
Zina had smiled tightly at the news, refusing to acknowledge the fact that it was just two weeks pregnancy. They had thirty more weeks to go, and a lot could happen within that time.
But she had broken the news nonetheless to Daemon with a smile that she was sure would easily deceive him of her true fears, but it turned out that there was no deceiving the one man who knew her more intimately than anyone ever could.
Daemon had cradled her against his chest in a manner that made her small frame more profound against his huge mast, then he whispered in her ears; "Can’t you see our happy ending is here? Do away with your fears, my love, for this time I shall stand with you through thick and thin."
Those words were her anchor in the next six months that followed. Warning her in the darkest of nights like a magical blanket Daemon had carefully crafted for her.
He was overprotective—a tendency that only grew as her belly grew bigger, and they fought about it a few times. But they would immediately make up, their heated sessions ending up with them taking a more heated tangle in the sheets.
He tried to be careful for her pregnancy’s sake, so she had no choice but to step up and become the wolf in heat. A fact that he would always tease her about.
While Daemon dismantled ages of long working traditions in his efforts to unite the North, Zina would visit the temples where the noble shewolves gathered to listen to her.
She told them about a future where the North would stand stronger, and in history, they would surely go down as the people who heralded the birth of a great dynasty. She told them about how the generations to
come would surely appreciate their unification efforts.
So one year after that day, the entirety of the North fell on their knees in submission to Daemon save for one of the High Ranked Packs—which was none other than the IceSavage Pack.
Brestom IceSavage, who had rebelled against his Alpha father to take over his position now led the entire IceSavage Pack into resisting Daemon’s powers.
Brestom, who had been raising private soldiers as Daemon had in fact predicted, took advantage of the territorial disposition of the IceSavage Pack which was located towards the Northwest. He occupied the acres of land, spread conspiracy theories of how Daemon’s intentions were anything but pure.
His act became so infamous it was named the Resistance of the IceSavage Pack.
Brestom was a lowly beast who knew how to stoop as low as using slave children captured from the Weat in warfare in order to resist Daemon. He told the people that he was testing Daemon’s humanity, whereas in reality, he grew to become the real monster.
The Resistance grew bigger, assimilating rogues and dissenting werewolves who resisted the thought of a hierarchy where one man stood as Alpha to millions of people. Perhaps it was that crazy amount of power that scared them. But maybe what they didn’t realize was that that kind of power was better off solely in Daemon’s grasps, than divided in Brestom’s hands.
The Resistance lasted for three months only. Falling apart like a stack of cards when Zina’s South Heralder was sent to infiltrate their ranks while posing as a rogue whose entire family died as soldiers under Daemon’s command when he fought the Arising Rogues in the GreenLands.
With combined efforts with members of the Abandoned Ones who were pack members of the IceSavage Pack, Daemon captured Brestom.
But instead of killing him off, Daemon had his hair shaved, his spirit broken, his wolf severely poisoned by wolfsbane, and then he was left to roam the North like the mad man he was. And that was how the story of the Resistance ended.
After coming full circle in one year, Zina could confess that she and Daemon were no longer the same. Their relationship had moved from sole lovers, to fighters under the same flag.
He trusted her more, even if it meant that she usually moved with Shadow, and no less than five trained Lycan guards including her former guard, Ablanch.
She never thought it was possible, but she fell harder for him over and over again.
For the way he would hug her sleeping frame close to his body when he came back from work in the middle of the night.
For the way he would tenderly kiss her forehead, before brushing a strand of her hair away like she was the most fragile and yet powerfully beautiful thing in his view.
For the way he would make sure to massage her back in the morning before he would attend to any official matters.
For the way he dashed out of meetings to the kitchen in the afternoon, to make sure her favorite cravings was being met to with great care.
For the way his eyes would light up when their child kicked in her belly—then he would look up to the roof as if so shocked a man of his standing was actually getting teary eyed.
For the way he would allow her to sleep sprawled on his laps in his office. Then he would keep caressing her back even while he read one or two official reports.
The good things was, every single day, she found a new reason to fall in love with him over again. And it was an exercise she had delight partaking in. Together, they became each other’s anchor, basking in each other strength while they put the past behind them as they built a new and stronger future. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
So when he suddenly asked one day while she laid on his laps and he caressed her back; "What do you think we should name our son?"
Her eyes flew open to meet his dark ones, a smile perching on her lips. "Two months ago you strongly believed it was a daughter despite my objections. Now, you’re sure that it is a son?" She teased, loving when she wore the arguments between them.
He chuckled, the sound reverberating through their bodies. Then his hands travelled to her ever slightly protruding belly, placed over it. "I lost this round. I’m now sure it’s a boy."
She grinned. "What has convinced you so, my king?" She teased, kissing his jaw.
He caressed her waist. "Just something about the way you glow." He said with a teasing smile. "It blinds me so."
He kissed her on the lips. A small peck that had her all perked up. Then he kissed her deeper, gripping her waist.
"So what should we name him?" He pressed on impatiently, "Zana?"
"Zana?" She shrieked.
"A twist to Zina." He said with a shrewd smile. "Do you like it?"
She struggled to contain her laughter. "I think Daemon Junior is more fitting."
"Daemon Junior?" He said with a deep frown that creased his eyebrows together.
"What? Not as interesting as Zana?"
"I suppose we both are terrible with naming our children." He said in resignation, kissing her again.
"But at least we are good at making children." She said, smiling into the kiss as he carted her to another wodrld.
Because there was nothing better than being with the man she loved. Sprawled on his lap in his office in the middle of night, while they whispered their undying promises to each other.
