The Broken Angel & Her Overprotective Brothers-Chapter 308: In His World (Part One)
Emily let out a huge sigh as she closed her bedroom door and headed straight toward her bed that was non-stop calling her name.
She got rid of her high heels on the way to the bed and dumped her phone too as she sprawled down onto the soft mattress.
The lunch was fun, too much fun that she was on the verge of passing out. Her brothers and friends didn’t hold back at all in chattering nonstop and bringing all the embarrassing memories of each other’s past. Besides, she had had a couple of drinks too.
"Oh gosh, my head is hurting so bad." She groaned as she rolled onto her side and tried to get rid of the pins that were holding her hair up in a bun.
It was definitely not an easy job and it took her quite some time to do it but she somehow managed to survive and set her hair loose from the confinement of the bun.
It didn’t even take her five minutes before she once again fell asleep, the alcohol working way better than any sleeping pills.

When she opened her eyes, Emily was no longer in her bedroom. Instead, she found herself sleeping on a comfy couch inside a room that appeared like a royal study.
The place was dimly lit and most covered in darkness. Her eyes could hardly see the walls of the room as she sat up on the couch and looked around to inspect the room.
Her gaze finally landed on the huge glass window on the farthest side of the room from where she was sitting, and then she also noticed the familiar figure who was standing next to the window while looking outside in silence.
She stood up and moved towards the window, her barefoot not making a single sound but she knew that the man had already noticed her.
He remained standing there while looking outside, pretending to be oblivious to her presence behind him.
"Why am I here?" She asked him but made sure to keep her voice low. She didn’t want him to hear the emotions that were ready to pour out through her voice.
"Don’t you have questions for me?" Shadow asked in response to her question.
Emily smiled slightly but there was no humor in it. She moved to stand next to him as she also looked outside the window, trying to see what he was watching but she only found pitch darkness and nothing else.
"What am I supposed to even ask? Because I’m sure you won’t answer my questions." She whispered as she rested her palm against the cold glass as she gazed at the darkness outside. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
She felt Shadow moving beside her but she didn’t turn to look at him. "Why did you use your powers, Princess? Don’t you know how dangerous it is for you?" His voice came out a little rough and impatient this time and she finally found something inside her rejoicing to see that he wasn’t all that calm and collected as he was trying to portray at first.
She finally turned to face him too, her eyes meeting with his amber ones as she replied, "I panicked and did the first thing that came to my mind. I didn’t think too much about the consequences. Also, I still haven’t thanked you for saving me and Crist, so thank you for your timely help. Maybe I won’t have survived if you didn’t end up showing..."
The words got stuck in her throat as she was taken by surprise as he suddenly stepped so close to her that she almost stepped back... almost.
She looked up at him with wide eyes while holding her breath and clutching her fingers into tight fists by her sides. "W-what are you doing...?" She somehow managed to ask as she finally tried to step away from him but got stopped by his arm that was suddenly around her waist and pulled her closer to him.
"Shadow..."
His name was a mere whisper on her lips as she stared at him in shock. Her heart beating too fast inside her chest that she could only hear the sound of it pumping out the blood into her body.
Her emotions were on a roller coaster ride and her anxiety was making her insides cramp. "Let me go..." It almost sounded like a plea but she didn’t care. She just needed to get away from him because the look in his eyes was scaring her.
The way he was holding her, it didn’t feel familiar with what she used to feel in the past. The way his eyes were looking back at her, the emotions in them were too deep that she wasn’t sure how to handle them, and the way her heart was somersaulting inside her chest, only scared her more.
"Why? Isn’t this why you wanted to meet me in the first place? To ask me about that day, that kiss, and my confession?" His words hit her directly at home, leaving her defenseless.
"Shadow..."
His name was the only thing she was able to voice out as her mind, body, heart, and soul no longer seemed to focus on anything other than the man in front of her.
"I did confess to you that day at the resort and I also kissed you," Shadow spoke, his voice returning to its usual calmness. "But the worst was what I did afterward."
The last sentence finally made her look back at him and she found his eyes filled with so much pain, regret, and insecurity that her emotions took a complete U-turn.
"I got scared, Princess. I didn’t plan all that, I just ended up losing my control and did the stupidest thing by confessing to you and then kissing you. Sealing your memories of me was a futile attempt to stop you from hating me for my actions. I was so panicked that I didn’t even take a few moments to think before taking action."
