The Broken Angel & Her Overprotective Brothers-Chapter 289: Turning Twenty-Two
Emily felt something soft brushing through her hair, followed by the familiar voice of Domenic. "Happy Birthday, Emilia."
He was probably the only one who still called her by her full name but she couldn’t deny that she loved hearing it.
Her eyes fluttered open and she let her eyes adjust to the brightness. The early morning light was filtering inside her bedroom through the closed curtains that fluttered with the morning breeze.
"Thank you, Nick." She responded in a soft tone as turned her attention to her brother who was sitting beside her on the bed while his fingers brushed through the tangled mess of her hair.
"You should get ready and come downstairs, the others are waiting for you." He told her before planting a soft kiss on her forehead and leaving the bedroom.
Emily didn’t waste any time as she hurriedly jumped out of the bed and headed toward the bathroom. This was the second time she was about to celebrate her birthday with her family and she was just as excited as her brothers, or probably even more than all of their excitement combined.
Completing her daily morning routine, she slipped on a white crop top and a black pencil skirt with a long slit that perfectly revealed her left leg. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
She left her long brown hair open and after putting on simple makeup and jewelry, she grabbed a pair of black high heels from her collection, her purse, and her phone, and only then did she head downstairs.
The first brother whom she found right outside her bedroom was Leo.
"Emy!" Leo smiled happily as he noticed her coming out of her room. He hurriedly closed the distance between them and pulled her into a tight hug. "Happy Birthday, sis."
Emily felt warmth filling her heart as she returned the hug and giggled when Leo started rocking her from side to side. "Thank you, Leo. I’m so happy that I’m finally celebrating another birthday of mine with you all." She confessed as she pulled away from the hug.
"Same here, sis. Let’s go downstairs." Leo took hold of her hand and then both of them headed to the dining hall.
The sweet aroma of coffee and freshly baked cookies and pastries greeted them as they stepped inside the spacious dining hall.
"Our bday girl is here. Happy Birthday!"
Crist and Daniel announced cheerfully as they popped the sparkle cannons as soon as Emily stepped inside the hall, causing thousands of sparkles to fall over her.
Emily didn’t get the chance of saying anything at all before she was surrounded by two strong pairs of arms as Crist and Daniel hugged her and once again wished her.
Simon and Mark also came to hug her and wish her ’Happy Birthday’ before they all helped her to get rid of the sparkles that had tangled in with her hair. Though it proved to be a hard job, they still tried their best.
"We are leaving within half an hour after finishing our breakfast. So you all need to get ready on time." Daniel informed everyone while especially pointing his gaze in Domenic’s direction.
The eldest Alessandro Master just let out a sigh but at the end, nodded his head in understanding. After all, he couldn’t deny that he was indeed too caught up with his work all the time and tend to forget about other things.
"I can’t believe we are going to watch a movie outside when we literally have a movie theatre inside our house that hasn’t been used in ages," Mark commented as he took the first bite of the pastry that Daniel had baked.
"If you don’t like the idea, you can stay at home," Emily responded as she sipped her coffee before sparing a glance at her brother.
"Not a bad idea, to be honest," Crist added as he attacked the cookies that had been tempting him for a while by now. They only got to test Daniel’s baking skills when their brother wanted to make Emily happy.
"I’m just stating facts." Mark defended himself.
"But no one asked," Leo added as he moved to take his seat beside Emily. "Besides, all of us will be shopping together for the very first time before the movie. Then we will have lunch at the restaurant and after that, we will be going to the waterpark. Seeing the list of things we have planned to do, it’s a much better idea to watch the movie at the theatre. It will be fun."
Emily gave a thumbs up to her youngest brother before she returned her attention to her pastry. There used to be a time when the mere sight of anything sweet would make her stomach churn in repulsion but that changed when she got to taste the ones baked by Daniel.
She was pulled out of her thoughts when Simon placed a black box in front of her. "What is this?" She asked while finishing off her coffee and putting the cup aside.
"Your birthday present," Simon answered as he brushed his fingers softly through her hair. He seemed a little bit tense as if he worried that she won’t like the present.
Emily opened the box and found a candy-sized white pearl sitting inside. "A pearl?" She looked at Simon with questioning eyes.
"Not just any pearl. It’s one of the rarest divine pearls from the Water Realm, around seven hundred years old. It contains immense water elemental powers." Domenic answered her question instead of Simon.
"Such an ancient treasure from the Water Court? How did you guys get it?" She asked while looking at her brothers in surprise.
"From an auction," Mark answered as he spared her a glance before returning his attention to his coffee and pastry.
Emily let out a sigh as she realized that her brothers had just spent a fortune just to get that pearl for her which would really help her in practicing her water powers. But the question was - would she ever be able to use her powers or did she have to live in the fear and secrecy for the rest of her life?
