Chapter 284: The Magical Resort (Part Six)

Emily’s eyes fluttered open when she heard something crashing loudly. She found herself laying on the couch in the living room while the area around her was a complete mess.

Her gaze landed on Kaiden who was standing at the entrance of the living room with his knuckles bleeding as he glared at something... or someone. She followed the direction of his gaze and a horrifying shriek escaped her lips.

"Shadow...!"

She hurriedly stood up and ran towards Shadow who was lying on the floor near the ward standing between the open balcony and the living room but was immediately stopped by a pair of strong arms that pulled her away.

"You are not going anywhere, Angel. Stay away from him." Kaiden whispered next to her ear as he tightened his arms around her to stop her from running toward Shadow.

"What are you talking about, Kaiden? Just look at him!" Emily shouted as she kept her eyes trained on Shadow who was still lying on the floor, covered in cuts and bruises and a lot of blood. She had never ever seen him in such a state.

"Kaiden, let me go. Right now!" Emily shouted as she tried to get free from his tight hold but she was no match for his strength.

"Let me repeat it again, Angel. You are not going anywhere near that selfish man. He doesn’t deserve you." Kaiden stated in a harsh tone as he kept his eyes trained on Shadow.

"Kaiden, just stop it, please. He’s bleeding. We have to help him. He can’t lose too much blood." Emily felt tears running down her cheeks as she felt the heaviness and darkness present in the room enveloping her in a cold cacoon. There was something so wrong going on there with both the men.

"He has made his choice, Angel. And now it’s our turn to make our decision."

Emily could hardly hear anything. Her tear-filled eyes were trained on Shadow and she finally got to see his face when he turned his body to face her. Their gazes collided and Emily watched as tears spilled out from the corner of his eyes.

He was in pain... too much pain that it was crushing him from the inside, a pain that was far more intense and dangerous than the one caused by his wounds. But at the very same time, she could feel a similar pain crushing Kaiden too.

Even though his words were making her feel angry, his heart was calling to her for helping him out of the pain. All these feelings that suddenly surrounded her made her feel so helpless and confused. She couldn’t tell what was happening and it only made it hard for her to get control over the situation.

One of her hands moved to grab her chest as she felt a piercing pain shoot through her heart. And even though she was no longer in a state to focus on anything other than the horrifying pain that had started taking all over her body, mind, and soul, she still noticed that she was being pulled away by a strong force.

There was a feeling inside her heart and a voice inside her head that was trying to tell her that she was losing something she was never supposed to lose, that something very important was being taken away from her. But she was unable to do anything about it. She was too helpless to stop it.

A heaviness took over her as she felt darkness consuming her. It was even a struggle for her to keep her eyes open and just as her eyes were shutting close, she remembered seeing the last glimpse of someone very important to her.

And then... the darkness consumed her!

The soft morning sunlight filtered inside the room through the gaps in the curtains that were being swayed by the morning breeze.

The sweet chirpings of birds greeted Emily as she felt herself coming out of her slumber. She slowly opened her eyes and let them adjust to the surroundings. She recognized the room in which she was staying at the resort and a soft sigh escaped her lips.

She turned her head to the side and was immediately greeted by a sharp headache that made her groan out in pain.

"Are you alright, Angel?"

Emily felt someone moving closer to her on the bed before a pair of strong and warm hands covered either side of her temples and started massaging them lightly.

She opened her eyes again and found Kaiden gazing into her eyes with worry filling his beautiful cerulean eyes. She tried to shake her head but it only made the pain worsen and for her to grimace.

"Don’t move." Kaiden hurriedly advised as he stopped her from moving and continued to massage her temples.

"It feels like the worst hangover ever but I don’t remember drinking that much last night," Emily muttered softly as she watched the handsome face of her mate. He looked just as gorgeous as usual. His shoulder-length silver hair was a mess of tangles but it only made him look sexier.

She noticed him gazing into her eyes for a few long moments as if he was trying to study her which made her look back at him in confusion. "What is it?" She asked.

He slowly shook his head before moving his face closer to place a soft feathery kiss on her forehead. "Nothing. You are just looking too beautiful." He murmured while resting his forehead against hers for a few seconds before pulling away and continuing with his massage which was actually working like magic.

Emily found herself smiling at his words as she raised one of her hands and brushed them through his soft silky silver locks. "Let me ask you something, Mr. Sullivan." She waited to see his reaction and was surprised when he immediately paused and a worried look took over his face. "What?" His voice was barely audible.

She remained silent for a few moments before she finally asked, "What are you doing in my room?"
