The Broken Angel & Her Overprotective Brothers-Chapter 277: The Duty of Siblings
Domenic was silent for a couple of seconds as he looked at his siblings. His gaze landed briefly on Kaiden and Shadow too as he analyzed everyone. The way they all were looking at him explained just how much his answer mattered.
"What is it, Nick?" Emily asked him when he didn’t speak for a while, making him look at his sister who was looking back at him with expectation-filled eyes. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
In her beautiful emerald eyes, he could still see the glimpse of the young girl whom he met for the very first time five years ago when she first returned to the Alessandro mansion. She had grown up so quickly just like the rest of his siblings.
He smiled softly at her as he patted her head before finally answering Simon’s question, "How can I not worry? You all are not only my family but the only people closer to my heart. I’m always worried about you all."
The living room was dead silent as everyone listened to Domenic finally showing a little bit of his vulnerable side to his family that he mostly kept hidden from everyone.
"But you know what? I’m so lucky. All of you have been good kids. Though you all gave me a fair share of troubles, none of you ever went out of line. Seeing you all grow up into such smart and successful adults, I’m more than happy. It’s like I and Daniel did a good job in your upbringing. I’m proud of all of you."
"Though I’m loving this moment as he praises us for the very first time in ages, he’s going completely off track," Crist interrupted the beautiful moment with his unnecessary comment as he gave Domenic a side smirk.
Domenic gave his brother an unimpressed look before he returned his attention to Emily. "Just like I said, you all are grown-ups now and so is she. She knows what she wants and what is good for her. She can make her own choices. What we can do, and should do, is to support her and always be there for her."
Daniel took the seat on the other side of Emily as he added, "I fully agree with Nick. You all are grown-ups now. And while we still care about all of you, it’s no longer right for us to interfere too much in your lives. Instead, we will always be supporting you all from behind and will always be there for you when you will need us."
Emily looked at both her brothers sitting on either side of her as her heart filled with a warmth that she always felt because of her brothers. It was the warmth of family and the love that they had for each other.
"Thank you." She thanked her brothers as she looked at both of them one by one to show them just how much their support meant to her.
"Though I agree with every single word you just spoke... I still can’t help but worry for her." Mark mumbled as he gave Emily an apologetic look. He couldn’t help being concerned about his only sister.
It wasn’t because he wanted to be a busybody in her life or control her, he was just afraid that she would get hurt. And while he knew that both Kaiden and Shadow were good men who would always keep Emily’s happiness as their topmost priority, he couldn’t ignore the feeling that kept telling him that those two held the power to hurt her the most.
"No one asking you to stop worrying about her. You just have to learn to trust her. Even if she made a decision that she would end up regretting afterward, we will be there for her. That’s what we should do as her siblings." Daniel told Mark while also looking at his other younger siblings.
The room was filled with a comfortable silence for the next few minutes as everyone seemed lost in their thoughts. But this silence was short-lived as Kaiden finally spoke. "Sorry to interrupt guys but we are getting late."
The scoffs that were heard from some of her brothers made Emily chuckle. She stood up from her seat and moved to hug Domenic and Daniel.
"Thank you for trusting me. I promise to look after myself and will be back on Sunday evening perfectly fine." She promised to her brothers and received approval from both of them.
Simon was next to hug her and then Mark and Crist both gave her a warm squeeze. Rylan and Leo followed next.
"Don’t you dare bother my brother too much! I’ll personally settle the record with you if you didn’t stop." Emily threatened Rylan in a whispered tone, making sure none of her brothers would hear her, though the same couldn’t be said about Kaiden and Shadow.
"Don’t worry. I know when to stop. You should just focus on enjoying your time on this trip and once you will return, let’s meet with Shane. He has something important to talk to you about." Rylan told her as he pulled away from the hug.
Emily nodded in approval before she gave her brothers a quick glance to bid goodbye before following Shadow and Kaiden out of the mansion and down the stairs to their waiting car.
"It’s a four-hour-long drive. If you want, you can take a nap in the car." Kaiden offered as they reached the car.
"Let me drive. You two can rest. I’ll wake you guys up when we will reach the destination." Shadow interrupted as he took the car keys from Kaiden’s hands and moved toward the driver’s side.
"Then I won’t be humble and accept your offer. Today was quite a hectic day for me at the company and I think I’ll need a little rest." Kaiden responded with a little smile as he opened the back seat door for Emily before following behind her to take his seat next to her.
"Let me hold you for a while." He whispered next to his Angel’s ear as he wrapped his arms around her and rested his head against her shoulder.
Just her mere presence was enough to make him relax and forget about all the tiredness. It didn’t take him long to fall asleep as he drifted off to the land of dreams.
