Chapter 259: Pancakes

"Is it really that bad? Can you at least not make that face? Kaiden!"

Emily grumbled in annoyance as she glared at her mate who was busy teasing her because of the pancake that she had just destroyed according to his analysis.

Probably cooking was the only thing that was still out of her league, not like she ever got the chance to hone her skills considering she was too busy dealing with other issues of her life to have any spare time to learn cooking or any such skills.

The only reason she decided to try making a pancake was because Kaiden made the process seem too easy that she got fooled and ended up making a fool of herself.

When the man refused to quiet down, she just dropped the spatula in the pan and glared at him in unhappiness with her hands folded over her chest, creating a defending posture for herself.

"Fine! Fine! I won’t laugh or tease you anymore. Alright?" Kaiden raised both his hands in surrender but couldn’t help smiling as his eyes once again found themselves looking at the badly burnt pancake that was still sitting on the plate.

He knew that he shouldn’t be making fun of her considering it was her first time cooking in a long time and also because she really tried her best. Besides, if he hadn’t distracted her by trapping her against the refrigerator to tease her, the pancake wouldn’t have ended up getting burned.

The piercing gaze of his furious mate made him turn his attention back on her and he finally found his smile disappearing. Even his wolf was mad at him for making their mate unhappy.

Clearing his throat, he straightened before walking across the kitchen counter to approach his angry mate. He moved to stand right behind her as he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her to rest against him.

"I’m such a miserable man. I just wanted to tease my Angel but instead, I ended up making her mad. Not only that but even my wolf is angry at me for making our mate mad. Tell me, what should I do?"

Emily remained silent as she heard Kaiden trying to amend his mistake. But even when she was trying to stay mad at him for a few more minutes, she couldn’t stop the smile that was threatening to spill on her lips.

Kaiden noticed that his mate was determined to give him the silent treatment and it made him realize that he would need to work harder to drive her anger away.

"Angel, this is so bad. Don’t you think so? We aren’t married yet and I already don’t know how to make you happy when you are mad at me. At this rate, I’ll be in big trouble when we will finally get married. Tell me, will you drive me out of the house and refuse to give me any food just like in movies and dramas?"

Emily turned her head to look at the man over her shoulder with a questioning look on her face. "What rubbish are you talking about now?" She immediately turned to look forward as she didn’t like the gleam in the man’s eyes. It was like she had responded exactly how he wanted.

Kaiden only tightened his hold around her as he rested his chin against the side of her head before speaking, "How am I speaking rubbish? I’m just trying to gain information for my survival in the future. If both you and my wolf ended up getting mad at me, I will need this information to save myself at that time."

Emily scoffed as she slapped his hands away and moved out of his arms before turning to face him. "Stop daydreaming and please cook something because I’m dying of hunger. Or do you want me to leave and have a late dinner at my house?"

The threat worked way better than Emily predicted as Kaiden hurriedly straightened and grabbed the second set of apron after giving her a salute.

"No need to ruin my image in your brothers’ eyes. I will make delicious pancakes for you." He spoke after a few seconds as he put the pan back on the stove and grabbed the bowl of pancake’s batter that he previously prepared.

"Are you only going to feed me pancakes?" Emily asked as she stared at the man with unhappy eyes. "And why are we eating pancakes for dinner? I have only eaten them in the morning before this."

She wasn’t complaining but more like actually curious to hear what the man had to say. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

"Who said that you can’t eat pancakes for dinner? You are so young, there’s still a lot you have to learn. And most importantly, don’t sound like I’m starving you. Of course, there are side dishes." Kaiden was quick to defend himself as he picked up a fresh red grape from the fruit bowl and popped it inside her mouth.

Emily silently chewed the grape while savoring its sweetness. She took a seat on one of the stools on the other side of the kitchen counter as she watched Kaiden performing his culinary skills.

Soon enough, she saw him preparing maple syrup, sausages, scrambled eggs, and Bacon. She was having a hard time controlling her hands that were itching to at least taste the dishes if not to feast on them.

Worst of all, Kaiden was fully aware of her struggles and purposely slowed down when it was time to prepare a second set of scrambled eggs.

"I won’t pick up your calls or reply to messages for the next twenty-four hours if you keep torturing me like this." She threatened and watched as he immediately increased his speed.

"You are getting influenced by your brothers." He mumbled under his breath but was fully aware that she could hear him.

"You are wrong. I’m not learning anything from them. I’m just finding out ways to handle you." Emily quickly responded and watched as the man chuckled at her words.

"Whatever makes you happy, Angel."
