The Broken Angel & Her Overprotective Brothers-Chapter 225: Night and Fae Court

"Ugly?"

Kaiden questioned in a fake surprised tone as he took hold of both of Emily’s hands that were cupping his face.

His eyes were fixed on his girl who seemed to be enjoying her drunken state to the fullest. He was finally getting why Shadow denied her from getting drunk. The man was not at fault, to be honest.

He watched as the girl nodded her head in response to his question before she pressed both of her hands tightly against his cheeks, refusing to give him any chance to pull away, not like he wanted to do it in the first place.

"Actually, it sounds perfect. I’m ugly and you are the most beautiful person in this world. The two of us will make the perfect couple together. Won’t that be nice?" He suggested while looking at her with mischief filling his icy blue eyes.

"But... but..."

Emily did not finish whatever she was about to say. Her head was still spinning and she was having a hard time focusing on the man standing in front of her.

Taking a step away, she finally pulled her hands away and turned towards the bed that had been calling her name for some time by now. As soon as her eyes landed on it, she felt exhaustion taking over her like it was ready to crush her.

Reaching the bed, she turned to face the man who was still standing in his original position. She felt his eyes following her every move as she let her body drop on the bed. She felt her back landing on the soft mattress, her shirt riding up in the process leaving her belly bare to be tickled by the light breeze that was blowing.

"Are you feeling sleepy?" Kaiden asked her as he moved towards the bed while struggling to keep his eyes wandering towards the exposed skin of her stomach.

He heard her humming in response as he took a seat beside her on the bed. His eyes stared into her emerald ones for a few seconds as they both stayed silent.

"Then we should sleep." He finally whispered to her in a soft tone before climbing into the bed beside her. He was having a hard time deciding if the fire of desire burning inside him was getting stronger when his body felt her presence beside him or if it calmed down a little for the same reason.

"The moon is looking so pretty tonight." He heard her sweet voice from beside him and as he turned his head to look at her, he found a beautiful smile playing on her lips as she gazed at the night sky filled with countless stars and the very beautiful moon.

"Come here." He told her as he opened his arms, inviting her into his embrace.

The girl did not say anything but she complied with his request, immediately snuggling closer to him as he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her tightly against his chest.

He placed a soft kiss on her forehead before both of them relaxed, letting their bodies rest after spending the entire day walking through bustling public places. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

He was aware of her hand that was resting right above his heart. The silk nightshirt that he was wearing suddenly started to feel like a barrier between them. He wanted to immediately get rid of the shirt and feel her hands against his bare skin, however, no matter how much his desire kept rising, he remained completely still until the girl in his arms finally fell asleep.

And as he too decided to sleep while holding the love of his life in his arms, he sensed the slight flicker in the night sky. The stars were rearranging their pattern. Something was bound to happen... someone was coming!

Shadow was still resting in his bed when he heard someone entering his quarters. The next moment, Corey appeared in front of him.

"Sire..."

The shocked expression on his face and the worry in his voice made Shadow curse inside his heart. He immediately signaled the man to stop with his worries before he could get a chance to speak any further.

"I’m perfectly fine. These minor injuries will disappear within a few hours. Let’s focus on the task that I handed you." He told Corey and watched him struggling to not inquire about whatever happened after he left to fulfill his mission.

Shadow accepted the letter that Corey offered him. The royal seal of the Fae Court disappeared as soon as his fingers grazed the wax.

"The Crown Prince is currently visiting the Sea Court to finalize the new agreement between the two territories. It was Her Majesty, the Queen, who has finalized the deal between the Night Court and the Fae Court. She has accepted your term and in return, she wants Miss Alessandro to crown Prince Alex as the new ruler of the Fae Court." Corey informed his Sire who was reading the letter that the Fae Queen had sent as a response to the deal that Shadow offered to the Fae Court.

Shadow finished reading the letter and with a flick of his fingers, got it disposed of before turning to face his man.

"As long as Crown Prince Alex can help her... the Night Court will fulfill any of their demands. Inform your Queen that I’m accepting her condition."

Corey hesitated for a second but then decided to ask the question that had been running through his mind ever since he got to know about the plans that his Sire had constructed with the Fae Court.

"My Lord, I know it’s not my place to ask but... are you sure that Crown Prince Alex is the right choice for Miss Alessandro?"

The next few moments were filled with silence which did nothing to help him feel less regretful about crossing his line and questioning his master’s actions.

At first, Shadow was not going to answer the question at all but then he changed his mind at the last minute. "It’s not that he’s not the right choice. Actually... he’s the only choice for her, at the moment."
