The Bodyguard King's CEO Wife-Chapter 1217: A Narrow Escape
East Sea Hospital.
"Xin’er, slowly stand up." Ghost looked at the box in front of him, then glanced at the window nearby. It was too complicated; Ghost couldn’t dismantle it. The only solution was to try to remove the connection device between the box and Gu Xin. It shouldn’t be too hard, though still somewhat risky, as the connection device wasn’t a simple rope.
Meanwhile, Ghost continually comforted Gu Xin, urging her to relax her hands. Truth be told, even disregarding its power, maintaining the balance of these four steel balls simultaneously and ensuring none touched the edges was already challenging. Moreover, Gu Xin was currently extremely tense.
They moved to the window. Ghost brought over a table and indicated for Gu Xin to place the box on it, relieving her of the balance issue. Then Ghost checked the connection device on Gu Xin. Suddenly, Ghost realized that this strap seemed to be fastened with screws. If so, wouldn’t removing the screws dismantle it?
Could it be that the opponent overlooked this point? Regardless, this seemed like good news.
Ghost, as though discovering a new continent, rushed to the desk. This was a superior ward, equipped with a desk, fridge, and TV. Luckily, there was a toolbox under the office bookcase. Ghost grabbed a screwdriver and dashed over, glancing at the electronic display screen as time "flew" away, leaving less than a minute.
Ghost swiftly unscrewed the screws one by one.
"Li, time... is speeding up." Gu Xin’s voice trembled; a countdown to life was a thrilling game.
"Don’t worry, I’ll make it." Ghost kept repeating, as another screw fell to the ground. Just three screws left now.
One, two, three.
"Xin’er, quickly take it off." Ghost shouted loudly, hurriedly removing the items from Gu Xin, as the numbers on the electronic display screen reached single digits.
Ghost picked up the box and quickly ran out into the corridor, throwing it out the window. Below room 601 was a small artificial lake; an explosion there could perhaps minimize the damage.
After tossing, Ghost immediately pulled Gu Xin down to the ground, using his body as a shield over hers.
Boom.
A loud noise emanated from outside, shattering the glass windows instantly and raining them down on Ghost. Water droplets faintly remained airborne, likely from the splash outside.
"Xin’er, are you okay?" Ghost shook off the broken glass shards from his body. Gu Xin, protected by his body, curled up underneath, seemed unharmed.
"I... I am fine."
"Phew, that’s great." Hearing this, Ghost felt all his strength instantly fade, lying on the floor, panting heavily. Surviving after walking through the gates of hell was indeed thrilling.
"That was really too dangerous." Ghost kept muttering.
Beep, beep, beep.
Suddenly, Ghost’s gaze turned to the ceiling.
"Xin’er, can you hear any sound?" Ghost’s heart suddenly raced; he stood up swiftly.
"I... no, the explosion was too loud. I’m now... a bit deaf." Gu Xin uncomfortably dug at her ears; the blast shockwave impacted her greatly. If Ghost hadn’t protected her desperately, it might be more than just ear pain.
"Hold on." Ghost stood up, stepping on the wall and easily climbing to the ceiling, slowly pressing his ear against it.
Beep, beep, beep.
Ghost’s eyes gradually widened, resembling large bells, his expression frozen in place.
"Run!" Ghost jumped down swiftly, shouting loudly, grabbing Gu Xin in his arms while sprinting toward the hallway’s end.
Bang.
Upon turning into the staircase, another loud explosion erupted from behind. A scorching heat was felt against his back. Glancing back, a fiery dragon-like blaze surged towards them...
....................................
Cough, cough.
Gu Xin coughed sharply several times, slowly opening her eyes. Everything seemed gray; her throat felt as if several mouthfuls of soot had entered it. Surveying her surroundings, she realized she was buried in rubble, surrounded by dust and "broken walls and debris."
Taking out her phone, Gu Xin used the flashlight to illuminate the area nearby. However, what she saw startled her.
"Li, are you alright?" Beside Gu Xin lay a "Gray Boy." Why called "Gray Boy"? Because Ghost was indeed covered in ash, head to toe, even his every strand of hair.
Without prior memory, just by appearance, Gu Xin might truly struggle to recognize Ghost’s face. Gu Xin wiped the dust off his face suddenly feeling moisture on her hand. Raising the flashlight, she found it was blood, and nearly shouted in shock upon seeing Ghost’s back, fully scorched by flames, with his clothes burnt to ashes.
Cough, cough.
Finally, under Gu Xin’s "emergency treatment," Ghost coughed continuously, finally regaining consciousness.
"Xin’er, are... are you alright?" Ghost opened his eyes, his first thought was to check Gu Xin’s injuries. Seeing she was unharmed, Ghost felt relieved; just now he safeguarded Gu Xin well, the bloodied back being the best proof.
"Don’t worry, I’m fine."
"That’s good, that’s good." Ghost stood up. Fortunately, he was a cultivator; otherwise, facing such flames and shockwaves, his internal organs might have shattered. Ghost was injured, but the crucial issue was they seemed trapped.
Though not large in size, its power was immense; at least this floor was ruined. They fled hurriedly, and after the explosion, both fainted, unsure of the outside’s situation.
"Don’t worry, someone will come rescue us." Ghost reassured, standing up, noticing the plank above seemed a bit unstable. Ghost harnessed Inner Strength, pushing hard, and unexpectedly succeeded in pushing open the ceiling above.
Gu Xin also stood up from the ground. They appeared to be on the "rooftop," surrounded by cracked cement, looking down to find many rescue workers below.
"Look, there’s someone above." At this moment, the rescuers below found Ghost and Gu Xin, quickly ascending on ladder fire trucks, cautiously escorting them down.
"There’s an injured person here, quickly treat the wounds."
