The Black Shadow Soul Hunter-Chapter 77: The Untamed Forest (part-2)

The trail in the forest led them deeper into the forest near a big tower with ruins. It looked like an old abundant radio station. There was big network tower on the top of the building with radar.

The big tower was standing in the middle of the woods. Something you don't see too often. The signal was confirmed the place is the extraction point.

Lee was very careful with his every step. Suddenly he seemed to pause and signaled Ruan Thiaun to halt her step. The unknown odor was coming from the mist.

Ruan were following Lee at the trail of the forest. With the sudden pause she stopped at the signal. Her eyes sharpen and gazing the surroundings. Lee could sense something was wrong. Not as usual. The odor he picked up in his nose was fishy. He crouched low, his eyes sharpen looking for any surprise he picked up the sword with a firm grip.

Ruan Thiaiun sensed that perhaps she must be extra careful, she looked at the bushes. She could feel the it was moving. It was not the breeze but something else was there hidden behind.

She crouched low setting her in the position like a hunter ready for the prey. She found a cluster of paw prints resembles a predator on the soft clay in the woods. They were massive, could be recognized as a larger predator just has passed over.

"Looks like I got you."- Ruan whispered, raising her stance nearest to the bushes.

Before Ruan could react she had fear in her eyes. The shadow had come to haunt with life. It was creature had fur like an wolf and sharp claws. It had a face of boar with sharp and big teeth. The creature growled and jumped from the dark as a lion to attack Lee as thick liquid was dripping from its face. The predator looked big and furious.

Ruan Thiaun, Instead of waiting for Lee she went in the bushes, while Lee was inspecting curiously towards the big tower.

The trees were not very big but the bushes was very thick with tall grass. The scent of the predator grew stronger. The smell was more primal than the wild beast, some thing stronger and more dangerous.

As she went deep into the bushes the visibility narrowed, she had a sense of something is closer to her. Her hair on the back of her neck stood as she could understand something was about to reveal.

Ruan Though was not a ordinary girl anymore she had her courage. The training had made her stronger, she knew she has the determination and skills of a hunter.

Ruan Thiaun, approached cautiously with the dagger in her hand, she was ready to swing the blade as hard she can.

She held her breath, her heart literally stopped beating. Her eyes darted to the wild bushes on the far side. Suddenly she saw a hollow shadow, not truly representing the full form.

The figure was looked visible in the dark. The beast was moving along the bushes with minimal sound, but a grown could be heard. It could be an animal. Perhaps a jaguar or a wolf.

She took the gun on her left hand and his shadow was making the move. The shadow was blending with the bushes, her to pick up the pace. It was moving fast.

"Come out in front, you piece of shit!"- Ruan shouted with a shaky voice.

Her adrenaline had rose up. She was ready to kill the beast.

But to make the things worse, nothing emerge. Lee came behind with a rush. Probably her voice had made him wonder.

"Ruan, Did you pick up something?"

Ruan looked surprised as she put the dagger back in the satchel.

"I saw a footprint. When I followed it, I thought I have found a beast. Probably a jaguar. But nothing is there."

There was hardly anything. Even there was no movements in the bushes. Perhaps the distance growl made her anxious.

"You should not have come her alone. I asked you to wait."- Lee was a bit more worried, perhaps on the fact that she did not listened to him instead she came out her by herself.

"Lee, I don't need a baby sitter. I thought I have picked up something..."

Lee had a smirk on his face. He was bit annoyed as he looked at her.

" Ok, but stick together that is a better option."

"But I strongly believe I saw some thing. I like to believe my senses."

Ruan Thiaun turn sharply, her eyes narrowing as she still continues to search the beast. She could not let her emotion take over she knows herself. Years of pain has made her very strong, there are no room for emotion. She has removed her emotions as a weakness.

She cursed her bad luck. " I am not about to lose everything over this." She growled to herself. The sting of the failure eating her away at the moment.

Ruan grabbed her weapon she was ready to give up, "Show your self. You coward beast!"

She had a rage and bit anger in her tone.

Lee was amused by her behavior. Is she really seen anything or her mind is just playing tricks.

Still there was not response in the nearest bushes.

Ruan prepared herself. Her pulse quickened as she grew closer to the bushes. This time defiantly she had heard a growl. As some beast was waiting on the back of the bushes.

The growls turned into guttural snarls, echoing through the bushes. Ruan heart raced, her mind was calculating the attack.

Now she was confirm to face the beast she was waiting for. Her eyes sharpen. She had the gun loaded with bullets in the chamber ready to fire.
