Charlotte wailed like a child throwing a tantrum as she held her bloody nose, while Maya stared down at her like a cold queen.

"What just happened?" Dalton blinks his eyes, puzzled. He stared at Maya in awe. It’s as if she is a completely different woman. He has never seen her physically hurt anyone. The punch is berserk. The spitfire flickering in her eyes was hypnotic. Her stone-cold face is intimidating.

And he is not going to lie: her sudden fiery behavior is turning him on.

"She has broken my nose!" Charlotte shrieks like a banshee, forcing Dalton to cover his ears.

"Dalton, look what she did! Your girlfriend is insane!" Charlotte ran to Dalton, arms wide open, expecting a consoling hug, but Dalton took a step back, and she stumbled and fell on her ass.

She burst out crying like a child.

"Christ, she is such a crybaby." Aiden cringed, he was standing in a corner with the twins. "You are a grown woman; get your ass off the floor!"

"This is so dramatic! it is like I am watching an Indian drama!" River squeals like a girl. He had his phone camera on; he had been recording the whole show going down.

"You were supposed to be in bed, experiencing menstrual cramps," Dalton said, frowning.

Maya scoffingly chuckled. "Is that what she told you?"

Dalton looked down at Charlotte. "That was a lie?" It was obviously a lie. He simply did not notice because his brain blacks out with fret,, whenever he hears Maya is in pain.

"She assaulted me, Dalton, and ruined my gown because she could not contain her jealousy!" Charlotte let out an ugly cry.

Dalton rubbed his brow. "What did you do to Maya?" Maya is a gentle soul, so kindhearted that she will not even harm a fly. Charlotte must have done something to elicit this violent response from Maya.

And his brother’s unfazed reaction says it all.

Charlotte is at fault. Even Oliver, who always defends her, is standing on the sidelines, unconcerned.

Charlotte gasped out loudly in disbelief. "She fucking hurt me, and you are asking me what I did!"

Dalton ignored her pathetic cries and diverted his attention to Maya. "Are your knuckles okay?"

Maya shakes her head, "Not really, Charlotte has a hard nose."

Dalton’s lips pursed with amusement. "You are acting fierce tonight, and I like it"

Maya blushed, laughing, which enraged Charlotte, who hurled herself back on her feet, realizing that her tears had failed to move Dalton.

"Dalton, you should be asking if I am okay instead! I am the one bleeding!"

Dalton ignored Charlotte’s outburst yet again. He took Maya’s hand and asked, "What did she do to you?"

Maya took a deep breath before speaking. "She did exactly what Soraya did."

Dalton’s eyes darkened as he sharply gazed at Charlotte, with fury burning through him. He has been so lenient with her out of respect for his father’s request to protect and care for her, but they are no more kids he doesn’t have to anymore. She has been trying to come between Maya and him, and he is simply watching her do that. He is not going to let her get away with hurting the most important person in his life.

"Call the cops!" he yelled furiously.

"I have them on speed dial right now," Aiden said, tapping his phone.

"What? She assaulted me! And you are having me arrested! Are you out of your mind!" Charlotte seethed. "You forgot I am a lawyer. I will file charges against her. "

"You are no longer a lawyer," Dalton declared. "I’m going to ensure that you lose your license. You will face disbarment."

"Have you gone insane? You are taking my profession away from me over something this minor?" Charlotte laughed hysterically. "This is unbelievable and so bizarre!"

"Maya, do you want to press charges?" Dalton asked her. "Please do not say no. You let Soraya get away with hurting you. Don’t let her get away too"

Charlotte snarls while rolling her eyes. "Press charges for what, falling on your ass because you are blind and did not look where you were going?"

Maya sneered back at her. " I wanted him to kick you out! But I have changed my mind. I want her in jail for attempting to harm me!" Maya’s voice was freezing cold.

"No! You can’t do this; I am your cousin! "You can’t get me arrested because of her!" Charlotte put aside her rage and resumed crying. "Oliver, do something; you cannot let him do this to me!"

Oliver turned away, indifferently. "You deserved it. Maya has previously suffered a traumatic brain injury. That fall could have resulted in a second one, which could be fatal."

The police arrived.

"If someone orchestrates a situation that causes another person to trip and fall, what are the potential charges?" Dalton asked the policemen,

"Assault and battery." A police officer replied, "Then arrest this woman for assault." Dalton pointed to Charlotte.

Because of the fear of Dalton, the policemen didn’t ask questions. They just handcuffed Charlotte and dragged her away.

"Please, I am sorry! "Do not take me away," Charlotte pleads, but the brothers and Maya just watch the police take her away.

Aiden slouched onto the couch. "Finally, we have gotten rid of that bitch. Why did it take you so long? Beatrice next!"

Dalton stroked Maya’s hair. "I am sorry I sat back and allowed Charlotte to hurt you. I promise I will not let her worm her way back into our lives,"

Maya simply nods, smiling gratefully.

"What about Soraya? It’s not too late to press charges against her for assault."

"No," Maya declined. "I will not have her arrested because of her mother, Aunt Lily. It will break her heart. Blacklisting her from the fashion industry was enough."

"If that is your wish. Is my mother causing trouble?" He did not need her to utter it, the answer was all over her face.

"Aiden, make sure Mom and her belongings are out of the house by the time we return from the gala party!"

"Aye, captain," Aiden is delighted to comply with Dalton’s instructions.

Dalton believes he has failed to protect Maya from those who want to harm her. He promises himself that he will make sure to eliminate anyone who intends to harm Maya from their lives.
