The billionaire's only desire-Chapter 64: facing all her nemesis
Chapter 64: facing all her nemesis
Maya’s heart jumped out of her chest as a car bumped into her pickup truck while she was parking it.
Maya stepped out of her truck to assess the damage as she heard a shuddering noise. Both headlights were broken
Maya felt like crying as she gazed at the damage done to the headlights of her beloved pickup truck. Then she remembered that she had enough money to fix it, and her gloom was replaced by anger directed towards the culprit who did this to her truck.
Maya heard girlish laughter coming from the Range Rover SV that had bumped into her pickup truck. Maya’s rage intensified.
"Oh, did I just bump into a truck belonging to one of the staff who works here ?" Charlotte said snarkily as she stepped out of the driver’s seat of the Range Rover SV.
"Oh, Maya, this is your truck. I’m so sorry."
Maya wishes looks could kill, like she would have killed Charlotte a million times with her deadly stare.
The door of the passenger seat opened, and Beatrice, Soraya, and Valentina tarry out of the car. Maya chuckled; everyone who loathed her was here.
"What is that ugly junk truck doing in the garage?" Beatrice asked, her nose wrinkling in disgust. "This the third time I’ve seen this truck here!"
"It’s Maya’s truck," Charlotte tells Beatrice.
Maya was a bit surprised to see Charlotte hanging out with Beatrice. She thought Charlotte hated her, but it turned out that Charlotte was just pretending to hate her in front of Dalton.
"Yuck! You can’t make my son buy you a proper car even though you’re warming his bed," Beatrice spat.
Soraya and Valentina laughed, mocking Maya.
Maya shot them a sharp glance. Valentina looked miserable, and her heavy makeup couldn’t conceal it. Maya felt a twinge of sympathy for her; losing her father and their brother was a big blow.
Maya shifted her attention to Beatrice. "No, thank you. I don’t need Dalton to buy me a car. I have enough money to buy one for myself, unlike you, who had to beg your sons for one, and they refuse." She fires back at Beatrice. Maya was so angry that she felt her fury would erupt like a volcano.
Beatrice seethed with anger. "How dare you speak to me that way? I’m your mother-in-law; show me some respect!"
Maya laughed, which only infuriated Beatrice further. Ignoring her, Maya pivoted to Charlotte. Before she could speak, Charlotte interjected, "I hope you won’t inform Dalton that I brought Soraya into his mansion."
Maya didn’t respond.
"I’m sure you won’t, right, cousin?" Soraya emphasized on the word "cousin."
"Cousin? Maya is your cousin?" Charlotte gasped. Her shock was so exaggerated and fake that it made Maya cringe. It was obvious that Charlotte knew she was Soraya’s cousin before they met.
"Yep," Soraya confirmed, joining Charlotte in her act.
Maya wanted to roll her eyes badly. Who do Charlotte and Soraya think they are fooling with their pretense.
"She’s the cousin you told me about, right? The daughter of your uncle’s late wife who cheated on him."
Soraya nods.
"She is the daughter of a whore and the fruit of adultery," Beatrice chimed in, seizing the opportunity to get a lick back at Maya.
"Beatrice, don’t call Maya that. Dalton will be furious with you if he finds out you insulted his girlfriend with such awful words," Charlotte reproved Beatrice. "I’m sorry she called you that, Maya," Charlotte said, patting Maya on the shoulder.
Maya pulled back, furious and bored with Charlotte’s fakeness.
"You’re back home to make lunch for Dalton, right? Please make me lunch too," Charlotte requested.
"Sorry, I’ve already cooked lunch for Dalton in the restaurant kitchen and had Aiden deliver it to him," Maya replied. She realized that, as the sous chef, she had the authority to prepare personal meals in the restaurant kitchen. Therefore, she would be cooking lunch and dinner for Dalton and his brothers at the restaurant, with Aiden handling the deliveries. Going back and forth between the restaurant and home was exhausting.
"I’m just home to grab something," Maya added. She is retrieving an Indian spice mix she bought. She is adding it to a new recipe she created for a dish on the restaurant menu.
"Oh," Charlotte’s face fell.
Maya glanced at her truck and said to Charlotte, "I want the headlights you broke fixed before the end of the day." Her words were harsh, laced with anger; she was done being polite to Charlotte.
Charlotte flinched, her lips parted, shocked by Maya’s stern tone.
Maya recognized the bag Soraya was holding and made a snide remark. "Soraya, you are so kind for holding Valentina’s bag for her." Maya laughed at the embarrassed expression that her words brought to Soraya’s face before she left the garage.
Maya retrieved the Indian spice mix and ordered an Uber to take her back to the restaurant. While waiting for the Uber, she stood beside the water fountain. That’s when Soraya and Valentina decided to confront her.
Maya struck first, saying, "You two could do something better with your lives instead of sucking up to Charlotte and Beatrice."
"Oh, you’re just jealous that Charlotte, the most important person in Dalton’s life, doesn’t like you," Soraya strikes back, and Valentina laughed, taunting
Valentina thrust a document into Maya’s hand. "Sign this so I can sell our parent’s house."
"Mother’s house," Maya corrected. "And I’m not signing this." She dropped the document to the floor.
Valentina blustered with anger. "You bastard! This is the least you could do for me after you got my father and our brother killed!"
Maya smirked in response. "I’m glad I got rid of those monsters. If you don’t stop trying to sell our mother’s mansion, I will let Dalton kill you too, so you can join your dad and Terrence in hell!"
Valentina quivered in fear and recoiled.
"And you," Maya swivels to Soraya. She thrust her phone in Soraya’s face, showing pictures of Charlotte all over Dalton at the charity gala.
Soraya’s face turned pale.
Maya pulled out her phone and said, "You know they are not related, right? Charlotte wants Dalton for herself. You are a fool for thinking Charlotte was on your side. Good luck to both of you in your quest to steal my man."
